Here's the whole story. You got a few facts wrong. Wagner isn't "attacking Africa". So, Tuareg militants ambushed a military convoy full of Malian troops and Wagner contractors. Ukraine military intelligence spokesperson came out on Ukrainian TV boasting of a successful military operation against Mali and Wagner by providing intelligence and that there will be more such attacks on them in Africa. Mali called Ukraine out Ukraine that this was "subversive" and "...terrorism and advocacy for terrorism". Instead of distancing themselves from the Ukrainian military intelligence spokesperson's claims, the Ukraine Foreign Ministry instead, doubled down. This led to Mali breaking of ties with Ukraine.
Mali has been fighting Terrorist islamist groups such as ISIS-GS and JNIM for years with the help of the French. The new Mali government cut ties with the French and reached out to Russia, and hence, the Wagner Group is helping them fight the rebels.
