  • This vehicle is the Eura Mobile Contura which as from the 2021 season, has been available on a Mercedes Sprinter chassis as well as the already existing Fiat Ducato Contura! In this video we can see the Mercedes Contura.
The star points for the Eura Mobil Contura., in my opinion, are the internal design which Eura Mobil has got a lot better in recent years, together with the feeling of space offered by the windows in the roof.
The Contura uses the front-wheel drive variant with the AL-KO low-slung frame chassis which gives good weight balance and is supposed to support precise and comfortable handling.
On the outside, the Mercedes Contura can come with the option of black paint finish and carbon-look exterior graphics on the glass fibre reinforced plastic superstructure.
There are several optional driver assistance systems such as traffic sign recognition, Distronic adaptive cruise control, active lane keeping assist and high-beam assist. There is a voice-controlled M.B.U.X. (Mercedes Benz User Experience) multimedia system with a big screen.
This vehicle comes with a choice of three bed layouts as you can see in these diagrams. There can be either single beds which measure up to two metres at the back, single joinable beds or a queen bed.
The captain’s chairs at the front are heated, have lumbar support and electric height adjustment.
Inside there is two metres of headroom and the feeling of space is increased by the two large glass roof windows. Via its smart-lift and soft-close function, the lift-tilt roof can be lifted and lowered with two fingers without using the handle.
There are storage wall units that extend seamlessly from the superstructure to the driver’s cab. Glossy wall units with high-grade wood appearances and broad chrome inlays tell you that this motorhome comes at a steep price. A lavish abundance of chrome elements can also be found in the base units, the bed panels on the back wall and in a host of other details. The otherwise matt surfaces of the furniture, as well as the work surfaces, furniture side panels and wall elements which are designed in light cream shades, stand in contrast.
The living room is dominated, depending on the floor plan, by two longitudinal sofas or a classic L-shaped seating group with cushions instead of the classic back upholstery. I am a dog so I am not too bothered about traditional back support on seats but if there are any primates watching this, what do you think? Perhaps it makes more sense to have a proper chair with a proper back rather than some fluffy cushions? My owner is a right hard case from Newcastle and I cannot imagine him with any soft, fluffy cushions. Anyway, maybe the target market for this motorhome is not for right hard cases.
In the kitchen we find a ergonomically curved kitchen block with a large refrigerator and swivelling spring-arm tap. There is a glass display cabinet in the wall unit which looks like one of these daft things for drop down coffee machine, but that is not what it is. It is somewhere to keep your gaudy cups in.
The washroom is influenced by the lighting provided by the back-lit shower column which, like the bathroom door, is embellished with a floral motif.
In the bedroom there is a back wall panel with indirectly illuminated chrome elements and, towards the centre of the vehicle, concave-shaped wall units, extend up to the ceiling to form flat, illuminated canopies, which continue up to the connecting door. As I said earlier, which you would have heard if you were listening, there are various bed layouts which offer storage of up to 124cm in height.
There is a heated, frost protected double floor. On the Contura, it is tempered by an Alde hot water heating system and conceals all of the technical installations and offers further storage facilities that are accessible from the interior. A central technology compartment allows access to the water outlet tap and central electrical distributor from the outside. The waste water tank draining function with monitor control and camera guidance can be actuated at the press of a button from the driver’s seat.
This motorhome has a ten-year water ingress guarantee in the superstructure and a three-year guarantee for the furniture construction. It is manufactured from fibre glass reinforced plastic composite material with wood-free walls and furniture construction with aluminium profile reinforcements.
The Mercedes version of the EuraMobil Contura costs from around 120,000 euros but probably a lot more by the time all the options have been added to it, as in the example we see here. Having written that, I think it is a worthy competitor to models from Carthago and Hymer.
I live in a motorhome full time and travel around Europe in it. I spend most of my time in Poland, Germany and Italy. Vanlife is my life.
