  • Welcome to my quick video on installing the Kenwood kscsw11 under seat subwoofer in the Mercedes s205. This is trying out the subwoofer before I put it in the wife’s smart car or if I like it, I will just buy two. This video is not your conventional wiring install as the amp is so low powered, I added a new circuit of the rear fuse box.

    This is the BEST install video I have ever watched...thank you very much! For the layman, these car systems can be overwhelming in terms of trying to choose products and understanding how they work. I have been trying to decide on a compact subwoofer to add to my system in my Golf GTI cabrio. Space is very tight. I also want it in the boot, rather than under the seat as it's already tight for passengers. I didn't want to swap out the factory VW RCD510 head unit but wanted a decent upgrade. So far I have replaced the factory speakers front and back with Focal Inside, but the head gave zero base. (I say I, but actually my car audio guy.) He then installed a 4 channel Kicker amp to run the speakers which has made a huge difference but still missing that low end base from the rear coaxial speakers. I now want to add a compact sub just to round off the system and add some bottom end without blowing the windows out....lol. It's between the Kenwood KSC-SW11 per your video or the Pioneer TS-WX130DA based on size and performance, but my gut is telling me the Kenwood is the way to go. Sorry for the long post, but my question is.....since the Factory head unit does not have RCA connections, and if I understood you, you spliced in to the rear door speaker cables? Can I then just connect the sub to the rear speaker inputs on the ampliefier for the sound and then obviously run the rest of the power cables etc per normal? I have supported my audio guy with the rest of the hardware, cabling and labour, but he doesnt supply these compact subs and offering me high end Kicker/JVC etc options but way over my budget and also way too big. I have the perfect space on the back of the rear seat. He said I'm quite welcome to purchase my own sub and he will install it. Any advide would be greatly appreciated!

      Thank you. So this sub does have a high and low Input ability. I wouldn't run it off the speaker outputs of the amplifier as that would be to high but you can run it off the speaker outputs of the headunit. You may find your amp as a link amp output, so you can daisy chain amps together, that would work well too. Hope this helps?

    One of the best install and set up vids for a compact sub that I've seen, Well done, and thanks. MOst of the vids try to blow the bollocks off a sub designed to just extend the base, and all you get is clipping and distortion. Cheers,

    I've connected the Power to Cig.Lighter Fuse , the blue one to Glove box light , Black to ground , Passenger side Green/GreenBrown front speaker cables to audio in but the result is failure :) Somehow I got very low sound volume and If I move the gain up or the HZ close to 125 hz Very loud Feedback sound ... There is a RCA and Speaker switch If I move the switch to Speaker It goes complete silent , I've also tried RESET switch still no joy ...

    Hi,
    Very nice video,
    Just one question did you remove the original fuse or kept it and added another one when you you use piggy back?
    Ta

    • @mvautomotive7092
      @mvautomotive7092  2 года назад +1

      Thank you. If you are adding a piggy back fuse to a circuit with a fuse then yes you remove that. Userly it goes into the bottom slot of the holder and then you add a rated fuse in the top slot for the circuit you wish to add.
      If your using the piggy back holder in a spare unused slot like I did in the video then you only need to add one fuse in the top slot for the circuit you wish to add and NOT one in the bottom.
      If you look at my dash cam video your see me adding to an existing circuit and using the two fuses as I explained above.
      Hope this helps

    How does this sound in the Smart For Four? Thanks

    • @mvautomotive7092
      @mvautomotive7092  2 года назад

      We ended up using it in my mates defender. With the cabin being the same size as the smart. It adds the lower end bass sound to complete the overall quality. As mentioned before it won't rattle your car but gives a great overall sound and adds what's missing to the bass. You won't be disappointed. I should be installing another to the smart by the end of the month. 👍

    • @mvautomotive7092
      @mvautomotive7092  Год назад

      @Martin Horton If you have 2 didicated powered subwoofers. I would disconnect the remote lead. let this run at the factory settings. This would then bridge the gap between mid bass / low bass and let the 2 other subwoofers that sound like they can handle deeper bass. If your using a factory head unit set the bass to 0 and then adjust the bypass filter on the vibe amp.

      @@mvautomotive7092 the underseat subs and the front and rear door speakers came alive once I installed the amp. Sounds great, just this kenwood doesn’t, just distortion at any volume. I’ve played about with the EQ etc but still the same. I wired the Kenwood to the door speakers. I’ve set the bass to zero on the head unit but still the same. I’ll disconnect the remote and see what happens, much appreciated

      @Martin Horton in my smart I installed vibe 6.5 comps in front and vibe 6.5 spl mid woofers in rear with this subwoofer. It's a small car but the sound quality was day and night improvement.
