I have heard Pastors talk about Jesus as if He was like a friendly neighbour, someone who you could go to for a favour. Many people seem to have a view of God where the Father is a distant figure, whilst Jesus is kind of a lesser person, whereas the scriptures reveal Jesus to be ALMIGHTY GOD in the flesh. I used to think that I would really like to have been present with the disciples, or just to have a face to face encounter with Jesus like they did, but now I don’t know so much. I long to see Him, but at the same time, I’m aware that I have this fear of the Lord, just like John experienced when Jesus appeared to him in the first verses of Revelation. This was a great deep dive into these verses. “Put your Calculator away - Wait on the Lord” 😂 what a great comment! Thanks Pastor Mike. Writing a sermon for my youth group and this have a lot of good points! Appreciate the humility you have in your teaching.
What a fantastic teaching. I was aware (and convinced of) the "some will not see death until..." referring to the transfiguration, but hadn't made all the other theological connections between the first and second comings. The topological material was great and the ending ... perfect.
We are currently reading through Mark at my church. Your videos have been invaluable in helping me understand Mark and his telling of the gospel. You're super straight forward and thorough in your presentations. Thank you!
The apologetic tying Jesus’ statement, “... some standing here who will not taste death...” to the Transfiguration (which happens immediately after this in the text), should’ve been so obvious, but this is honestly the first I’ve realized this is likely what He was referring to. We seem to just look at it as a cap to the whole death/resurrection talk at the end of chapter 8; and it is, but it’s meant to lead into the events of 9 as well. I’ve always felt strange about the full Preterist view, so this is great. I think it’s clear that there are both partial and multiple fulfillments of some prophecies. Also, I agree that the 2 Peter 1:1-18 is certainly talking about this event, in retrospect. What’s cool is you can even add the last few verses, 19-21 to show that even though he was one of only a few that witnessed it, he doesn’t solely use this as his evidence of who Jesus is. He backs it up with Scripture and goes on to say that “we have the word of prophecy made MORE sure”. It’s important to understand that our personal subjective experiences, while invaluable to ourselves, mean very little to nothing to unbelievers. We need to be able to bring solid, objective evidence to our witnessing as well, and I think Peter values the evidence of prophecy as much, if not more so than even his own private revelation. Nice work, man 👍🏻
Pastor Mike, your teachings are always a blessing. But this one was on another level. The amount of wisdom in this one video is incredible. I need to watch it again, and again still. That last bit about Moses and Jesus together in the promised land actually gave me shivers 🤯 May God continue to bless you and your ministry
Mike I love your teachings. Thank you and may God continue to bless you. Jesus came to me in a dream many years ago when in my teens. Jesus in rapture form yanked me from my dream and stood before me. He looked as described in the bible on His transfiguration with Peter James and John. Jesus said 'come to me". He was beautiful in and I will never forget it. I stood there in shock and I couldn't move or respond. It was as surprising as seeing a dinosaur in your backyard! I struggled with my Christian walk and this always helped to keep going. It took me most of my life to be born again and to love God more than my family. Maybe this is why I was so lucky. Thanks for listening. I tell people this story and it hurts my feelings when they don't understand how wonderful it was to see Jesus. Again God bless you And your cat!
In my thought...the appearance of Moses and Elijah with Jesus and talking to each other.. Moses represents the Law... Jesus is the fulfillment of the Law.. Elijah represents the prophets...Jesus fulfilling the prophecies of the prophets concerning the Messiah..
Thank you so much, Brother Mike, for teaching us the gospel. Personally, I had confusion about Matthew 16:28, and now it all makes sense to me thanks to the Holy Spirit’s grace on me and your teachings. Thank you and God bless. ✝️♥️
Best part about the transfiguration... The ability of Peter to speak while speechless. Jesus was literally glowing. The other disciples were quiet but Peter was the man with a plan. This is why I love the gospels and the unfiltered truth they represent. I feel you Peter!! Matthew 17 4 And Peter said to Jesus, “Lord, it is good that we are here. If you wish, I will make three tents here, one for you and one for Moses and one for Elijah.” 5 He was still speaking when, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them, and a voice from the cloud said, “This is my beloved Son,[a] with whom I am well pleased; listen to him.” 6 When the disciples heard this, they fell on their faces and were terrified.
Mike i don't usually compliment people because I don't like boosting people's ego's but man you're awesome I've learned so much every sermon I've heard from you has been so edifying to me like no other pastor ever has, obviously besides the good shepherd Jesus. Another thing I appreciate so much about you is that when you're not sure about a doctrine you don't just say "this is how it is, I'm right and you're not"
I recently did a study on Elijah and Moses (Their works are referenced in Rev with the two witnesses). And the Word of God and the testimony of Jesus Christ. Rev tells us the the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy. Moses represents the Word of God/the Law. Elijah represents the testimony of Jesus Christ/prophecy. The two witnesses. Also meeting God on a mountain, fasting for 40 days....the symbolism is brilliant!! God is so awesome!!
Brother Mike I’ve learned a lot from you thanks ...here is the light I have on Mark 9:1. And he said to them, "Truly, I say to you, there are some standing here who will not taste death until they see the kingdom of God after it has come with power." (Mark 9:1, ESV) At Pentecost (all the disciples were there except Judas he had died) on that day ..the Kingdom of God with POWER / Holy Spirit came. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth." (Acts 1:8, ESV) And behold, I am sending the promise of my Father upon you. But stay in the city until you are clothed with POWER from on high." (Luke 24:49, ESV) But if it is by the Spirit of God that I cast out demons, then the kingdom of God has come upon you. (Matthew 12:28, ESV)

I have long thought that Stephen was also in the crowd that Jesus told 'Verily I say unto you, There be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom.' Acts 7: 55 But he, being full of the Holy Ghost, looked up stedfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God, 56 And said, Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God. I would say Stephen got a good look at Jesus in His true glory before he died.
Dan, are you referring to Acts 6:15 ... And all that sat in the council, looking steadfastly on him, saw his face as it had been the face of an angel. ?
42:42 he’s not only in the promised land, he is with Jesus: THE PROMISED ONE. I always thought oh my it’s sad that he was not allowed to see the promise land but even in those little things, God won’t fail, he received something way better, he saw the reason of it all, of every word he wrote, of every tear he cried, of everything he went through, the reason of every sacrifice, the reason of the promise land itself, at the end of the day, he got something so much better. Which confirms to us that we need to obey God, and trust Him, even when we think it’s a bummer what’s happening o what’s happening to this other person, GOD KNOWS what he’s doing.

In Matthews account the location to where this was taking place was at the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, which is at the base of Mount Hermon. This is the same location described in the account from Enoch where the Watchers made their covenant with each other (Enoch 13:7). What is also interesting is the history of paganism at this location. The goat god Pan is said to be worshiped here by performing human sacrifices inside a cavern. There are videos showing this archaeological site and it's open to tourism. Their traditions claimed that this was the entrance to the underworld (Hades, Sheol, etc.) and it had the title of the Gates of Hell. Now You See TV has a great video on this subject and I think it's worth a listen to. During this encounter in Matthew it is revealed to Peter who Jesus was, He is the son of the living God and Christ. Jesus then switches his name from Simon Peter (rock) to Simon Barjona (son of Jonah) which seems to reference that it is Peter's belief in the sign of Jonah; a reference from earlier in the chapter, Matthew 16:4 and also in Matthew 12:39-40. It is the inward belief of Jesus' work that leads to him witnessing the manifestation of the glory of Christ, not a earthly sign like the Sadducee's and Pharisees were looking for. This soteriological concept is what the Gates of Hell cannot overcome. There's more, but I thought some here would appreciate what other's have found. God bless you all during this turbulent time that we all live in.
Yes Yeshua was not so much making a statement to His disciples as much as He was laying it down for satan and his mates. I'm going to build my Church right here at the gates of hades and you cannot stop me.
Very well said (William) > you put that across brilliantly but lets not forget Dr Michael Heiser's Excellent Seminars and books > The Unseen Realm and Reversing Hermon .
At that stage satan held the keys to death. But after Yeshua's death and resurrection He said in Rev 1: “Fear not, I am the first and the last, and the living one. I died, and behold I am alive forevermore, and I have the keys of Death and Hades. The top of mount Hermon was the abyss, the gateway to Hades and satan had the Keys. In other words satan had the authority to keep souls of the departed saints in lock down. Yeshua grab those keys (authority) to decide who stays in Hades and who does not, from satan after the cross and His resurrection. He is simply awesome
We in the church must woo Him back. He returns not for a unprepared teenager but a mature women as a bride. A critical mass, a humble yet faithful remnant maturing saints around the world will woo Him back for a bride. And He is the hope of glory in us - "Christ in you the hope of glory" (Col. 1:27). So some of us must live Christ that what we have lived would be expressed outwardly at His return, rapture and transfiguration. "We shall be like Him for we will see Him as He is" (1 John 3:2)
And some of the believers co-partake of this glory with Jesus - "When He comes to be glorified in His saints and to be marveled in all those who have believed ..." (See Second Thess. 1:10). "... GLORIFIED IN HIS SAINTS... MARVELED IN ALL THOSE WHO HAVE BELIEVED ... " I am only at 14:39 point in the video. Maybe you'll make a similar point latter on ? Good teaching Mike.
''A voice came out of the cloud'' people then thought 'heaven' was up there, beyond the clouds, we still use expressions from that ancient belief, the heavens, came down from the heavens/heavens above etc, there was just earth and heaven ,(and the lights in the sky, ) just for our benifit
At the Transfiguration, Jesus shown as brightly as the sun, and time dissolved. At the Transfiguration, the Gospels show us that Jesus is God over time and space. Here in this one episode, we have people from the past, the present, and the future all in one place. Moses, living in his own time finds himself with Jesus and the three disciples. Moses was from the past, the disciples are in the present and Jesus (shown as glorified which didn’t happen until he was raised from the dead) is from the future. Moses never left Mount Sinai when the three disciples were in Galilee and they were all in the same place as Jesus. Elijah was from Heaven so the Transfiguration brought earth and heaven together in one place. Jesus is not bound by space and time he is truly God
Thank God for giving us the time in our journey to learn what is being said In scripture. The seekers ,as yourself, enjoy this part of our journey. The Bible is interesting, takes time to understand, is humbling as we learn about our LORD and God the Father. Understanding Their ways and thoughts.
I think it is important to state that the 3 we're seeing a "Vision" Mat 17:9 of Christ's future glorification & Moses & Elijah were a part of that vision.

In reference to 2 Peter 1 :16-21, where Peter affirms the revelation of Christ's radiant glory that James, John, and he himself received on the mountain, he exhorts the believers that they would do well to pay close attention to the ancient prophecies, until "the day dawns and the ' *phōsphoros ' arise in (their) hearts", that is, that they would truly receive the spiritual revelation of Christ Himself "bearing the radiance" (of God's glory).
After being baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending as a dove and lighting on Him, and behold, a voice out of the heavens said, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well-pleased.” Matthew 3:16,17. ” For he did not know what to answer; for they became terrified. Then a cloud formed, overshadowing them, and a voice came out of the cloud, “This is My beloved Son, listen to Him!” Mark 9:6,7 While he was still speaking, a bright cloud overshadowed them, and behold, a voice out of the cloud said, “This is My beloved Son, with whom I am well-pleased; listen to Him!” Matthew 17:5 While he was saying this, a cloud formed and began to overshadow them; and they were afraid as they entered the cloud. Then a voice came out of the cloud, saying, “This is My Son, My Chosen One; listen to Him!”Luke 9:34,35
On a side note, Peter wasn’t just saying something off the top of his head, it was the Feast of Tabernacles so this would have been on his mind as well. Good point about not wanting them to leave. I love Jewish feast days and how they all cause us to see Something pertaining to Jesus
When re-thinking about the disciples thinking He was coming back "very soon"/"quickly" - as with other things, I think they just mistakenly jumped to the conclusion that He meant "every soon". But..... Jesus said in Revelation: “And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to every one according to his work. No, reading it again, seems He is actually saying when He does come back, it will be "quickly" - the event will happen very, very fast and not slowly. When the disciples asked Him about the end of the age He confirmed that before that happened there would be wars, etc., etc. and the Antichrist would have appeared. Didn't give the impression it would be very soon at all. I've noticed there're other issues like that as well about certain statements that we've misinterpreted bc of preconceived mindset or something.

Nice work, man 👍🏻
Pastor Mike, I’m truly thankful that I found your ministry. This is my second time through your Mark series, and I’m continuing to learn. God Bless
I'm so used to Mike for his Christian RUclips content, which I love. I didn't realize what an extraordinary pastor he is
love this series & all of the great info within each episode. We are truly blessed to live in a time to receive these teachings online.
Pastor Mike, your teachings are always a blessing. But this one was on another level. The amount of wisdom in this one video is incredible. I need to watch it again, and again still. That last bit about Moses and Jesus together in the promised land actually gave me shivers 🤯
May God continue to bless you and your ministry
Good job Mike! You make everything so clearly and easily understandable. Thanks! God bless
Thank you Lord
Thank you Jesus
Thank you Holy Spirit
❤️
Can't wait to see you and join you in the Kingdom
Love

That's pretty much verbatim what Mike said.
That made more sense to me thank you!!
Thank you so much, Brother Mike, for teaching us the gospel. Personally, I had confusion about Matthew 16:28, and now it all makes sense to me thanks to the Holy Spirit’s grace on me and your teachings. Thank you and God bless. ✝️♥️
Thank you brother/pastor Mike. May God continue to bless you and your family and your ministry!
Best part about the transfiguration...
The ability of Peter to speak while speechless.
Jesus was literally glowing. The other disciples were quiet but Peter was the man with a plan.
This is why I love the gospels and the unfiltered truth they represent. I feel you Peter!!
Matthew 17
4 And Peter said to Jesus, “Lord, it is good that we are here. If you wish, I will make three tents here, one for you and one for Moses and one for Elijah.”
5 He was still speaking when, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them, and a voice from the cloud said, “This is my beloved Son,[a] with whom I am well pleased; listen to him.”
6 When the disciples heard this, they fell on their faces and were terrified.
Fascinating. I always took the whole "see the Kingdom coming in power" as refering to Acts 2.
Mike i don't usually compliment people because I don't like boosting people's ego's but man you're awesome I've learned so much every sermon I've heard from you has been so edifying to me like no other pastor ever has, obviously besides the good shepherd Jesus. Another thing I appreciate so much about you is that when you're not sure about a doctrine you don't just say "this is how it is, I'm right and you're not"
Been anticipating this for some months now. Great job mike r the best
Thank you Pastor Mike. The Lord Jesus Bless Your Teachings to us!!!
With everything happening with the coronavirus... How I long for Christ return. I am homesick from heaven?
Thank you for all of your hard work with your videos! They are truly a blessing! Thank you so much
Again I am so grateful for this annointed teaching from Pastor Winger.
Mike, excellent handling of God’s word. Very good insights. I appreciate the work you do!
Good lesson, thanks for continuing to make these available, God bless.
Great message, the worx of God always great. May GOd continue to bless and keep you
Thank you Mike for another awesome teaching....continual blessings
Brother Mike I’ve learned a lot from you thanks ...here is the light I have on Mark 9:1.
And he said to them, "Truly, I say to you, there are some standing here who will not taste death until they see the kingdom of God after it has come with power." (Mark 9:1, ESV)
At Pentecost (all the disciples were there except Judas he had died) on that day
..the Kingdom of God with POWER / Holy Spirit came.
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth." (Acts 1:8, ESV)
And behold, I am sending the promise of my Father upon you. But stay in the city until you are clothed with POWER from on high." (Luke 24:49, ESV)
But if it is by the Spirit of God that I cast out demons, then the kingdom of God has come upon you. (Matthew 12:28, ESV)
Great teaching!!!! This one of my all-time favorites.
Wow so good man!!! I’ve been NEEDING this word. So glad I found it ALL GLORY TO GOD 💯🔥🔥🔥🔥
Thank you, and especially for the exegetical look at Mark 9:1.
Henry Odera, exegetical- explained, clarified the intent or thought. Had to look up the word 😀
@@darrylsturgis7389 😂😂 I learnt it recently too despite having heard it several times before. I knew it had something to do with studying the Scriptures, but I only got the full definition recently.
Always better than an eisegesis...in my opinion
Doesn't exegetical mean: preaching verse after verse of the Bible in sequential order, rather than preaching in a topical style (teaching about certain subjects)??
@@caroleimani9754 I think you are referring to “expository” preaching.
Well done....you nailed it as usual, brother!
Mike: I thank God for another wonderful sermon from you.
Do more of this type of serie, of every gospel, it’s so helpful
You really did save the BEST part of the sermon for last! 💜
BEST thumbnails on the planet... Never fails.
Thumbnail savant👍🏼
I haven't even seen the video. I just had to come and say the thumbnail picture is awesome. LOL
While I don't agree with everything you say, I deeply appreciate what you are saying.
Hi pastor Mike thank you for so much The Word of God it realy minister , i understand God is ever present, now Christ is coming from where, isn't He here in us, Christ *in* us the Hope of glory
awesome content Mike!!! God bless. deep bible study always reminds me of the late Chuck Missler, his teaching and your teaching of the Word have been a great blessing in my life.
I have long thought that Stephen was also in the crowd that Jesus told 'Verily I say unto you, There be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom.'
Acts 7: 55 But he, being full of the Holy Ghost, looked up stedfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God,
56 And said, Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God.
I would say Stephen got a good look at Jesus in His true glory before he died.
Nice work, Dan. That could very well be.
@@BarbaraEyre Stephens face was like the face of an angel it says, similar to Moses' face shining.
Dan, are you referring to Acts 6:15 ... And all that sat in the council, looking steadfastly on him, saw his face as it had been the face of an angel. ?
@@BarbaraEyre yes
I can see it in that verse. Thank you for pointing it out. =)
I am laughing because i get terribly annoyed by the endless use of LIKE. I was a speech teacher. I had to work with overuse of UM. So distracting. Your content is so great and inspiring that i try to ignore how much you overuse LIKE. Your work is wonderful. I’m doing my best
Eye opening explanation of the 1st and 2nd coming.
Dr Michael Heiser has a great take on this scene I believe is worth looking into. Just do a search with his name and the transfiguration. Its more Supernatural than we think.
21:55 - 23:30
WHOA!!! I didn't know that but I love that!!!
Thank God someone is teaching this.
So much in these passages. Well done !
Awesome! Thanks for this brother! 👍
Very insightful stuff brother. Thank you.
I really like the concept of the markian sandwich it makes a lot of sense to me and I have enjoyed this aspects of your teachings.
JESUS IMMANUEL ❤ GOD WITH US 😊
Beautiful, awesome, most excellent job. God bless :)
10 minutes in and my reservations about Mark 9:1 are gone. Thank you Mike!
Good job Mark...good job.
So, thank you my Father
And thank you His Son
For sin has no place
In the man that I've become
For my flesh may be weak
But the Spirit has overcome
I'm diving in deep
I'm filling up my lungs
Put to death the old me
Rising up with a new heartbeat
Satan wants to creep
But Jesus keeps him under my feet
Crush him to pieces
Live like light
and the darkness retreats
The adversary has no chance
The sword I carry is the Lords peace
Go on, take your shot
Try to make me act a fool
God is on in this heart
A fire that pushes back the devils tools
I raise a battle cry
I worship until I die
I raise a battle cry
I will worship all alone, I am not shy
I will worship with the crowd
We are yours, we are loud
I will worship by myself
I'm am yours, in me you are so loud
I'm dropping my old self
I recognize my faults
You hung up on that cross
So I may retain the salt
Praise Jesus Christ our Lord
Praise him in the day
Praise him in the storm
Praise Jesus Christ our King
Praise him in our dreams
Praise him in our new form
Even when I'm lacking
I know that you are not
Even when I'm lacking
I know who is my rock
Keep me safe
Keep me strong
I will praise you all day long
I will praise
I will praise
I will praise you all day long
In Matthews account the location to where this was taking place was at the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, which is at the base of Mount Hermon.
William Dean yes
What a great message!
Loving the mark series!
So good! Thank you, thank you, thank you! ❤
This has been really helpful
We in the church must woo Him back. He returns not for a unprepared teenager but a mature women as a bride. A critical mass, a humble yet faithful remnant maturing saints around the world will woo Him back for a bride. And He is the hope of glory in us - "Christ in you the hope of glory" (Col. 1:27). So some of us must live Christ that what we have lived would be expressed outwardly at His return, rapture and transfiguration. "We shall be like Him for we will see Him as He is" (1 John 3:2)
I am going to be teaching Saturday at our mens Bible study on the millennium. That little preterist point will come in handy.
''A voice came out of the cloud'' people then thought 'heaven' was up there, beyond the clouds,
we still use expressions from that ancient belief, the heavens, came down from the heavens/heavens above etc,
there was just earth and heaven ,(and the lights in the sky, ) just for our benifit
I had the same thought😊
Those who are alive and remain Elijah
those who are resurrected bodily from the grave like Moses.
At His appearing
Well done and well said.
Excellent study!
Never thought about it, or seen it this way. More confused now, but you make a strong case.
Thank God for giving us the time in our journey to learn what is being said In scripture. The seekers ,as yourself, enjoy this part of our journey.
The Bible is interesting, takes time to understand, is humbling as we learn about our LORD and God the Father. Understanding Their ways and thoughts.
36:40 I liked your bottom line conclusion.
Thank You!
There is also an amazing ebook entitled "The Transfiguration of Christ Jesus" by Arnaldo Mucanze which is available at Amazon kindle store
What does Jesus' name mean?
"God saves."
Amen
I think it is important to state that the 3 we're seeing a "Vision" Mat 17:9 of Christ's future glorification & Moses & Elijah were a part of that vision.
absolutely wrong
Yes.. Christ second coming..!!
Thank you.
Hi Mike > Your talk on the transfigation was good > however i would have very much appreciated alittle more back ground on why Jesus picked that mountain particually (mt hermon)? > and what was his reason for doing so ? Thankyou Mike and may our Lord bless you .
Actually I don’t know what mountain Jesus was transfigured on so I didn’t try to guess at its meaning.
@@MikeWinger Thankyou Mike for your responce > and i do very much beleive that i can point you in the right direction for your answer to that question > Please check out Dr Michael Heiser's Seminar called > Reversing Hermon > I think you'll enjoy it very much . Thankyou Mike .p/s > sorry mike just remembered > you may want to see the (Unseen Realm) seminar as well ?.
He is the Shekinah Glory of God
Thank you
In reference to
2 Peter 1 :16-21,
where Peter affirms the revelation of Christ's radiant glory that James, John, and he himself received on the mountain, he exhorts the believers that they would do well to pay close attention to the ancient prophecies, until
"the day dawns and the
' *phōsphoros ' arise in (their) hearts",
that is, that they would truly receive the spiritual revelation of Christ Himself "bearing the radiance" (of God's glory).
But.....
Jesus said in Revelation:
“And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to every one according to his work.
NoCoincidences M
But Jesus also said that it would be in that generation and in Rev He said the time was at hand.
