    Hi,
Does this mean that Daf Jenkin, Christ T and T Reffell will need to sign for a Welsh region after their contacts end? Because I don't think that is is the case for them. Confusing.

Not if it's a continuation of their current contracts.

Yep , when their contracts end, if they haven’t hit 25 caps , they will need to move to Wales if they want to still play.

Let players go and remove the cap. The regions problems aren't player based IMO. The coaching has been really consistently behind the pack for a long time. Watch the way the South African and French teams play. Very little time with the ball on the floor. Contrast that with the regions who seem to want to have as many rucks as possible! I would get Shaun Edwards signed up as a coach of coaches and start improving the ideas coming out of Wales.

The whole point of the cap rule was to keep players in Wales but it clearly isnt working so they should get rid of it

Lets be brutally honest, its a lovely idea to try and keep the whole team in Wales, however, unless we can pay the players competitively the cap rule becomes a hinderance. The players know that each year could be their last playing rugby as an injury can happen at anytime, and with a typical playing span of only 10 years (if injury free) you have to make the money while you can. So you can't blame them going to where they will get a reasonable pay out.
We have now lost several world class players because of this stupid rule, Fey Waboso and Hawkins are two inexcusable players to have lost proper world class playmakers.
The mismanagement has to stop, 1st step - scrap the 25 cap rule , 2nd step - reduce the regions to two, cardiff/dragons and scarlett/ospreys That way the individual regions should have enough supporters to be viable this allows the money from WRU to go further and bigger ticket sales - so we can afford to pay people properly again. 3rd step make sure any new contract outside of wales include a clause to allow them to be released for all wales duties.
Job done, we don't need million pound CEOs etc its bloody obvious.

Hi, I think that 5 caps is all you need to play for Wales, but I would prefer if it was scrapped, we are losing good young players, the WRU needs to sort them selves out this cap rule is killing the game in Wales. The WRU needs to fix this

We need the Welsh teams to play in the English Premiership. Stop wasting money of flying to games. Then let any Welsh player playing in England or Wales play for Wales.

      100%
And change the regions to actual places. Swansea, Cardiff etcetera

Completely disagree I’m afraid. The rule was designed to keep big names in the welsh regions and encourage fans to go to games but also give the welsh coaches more time with the players. The list of players unavailable because they are short of the 25 caps is very small, in single figures. 60 caps was definitely too high, 25 is more suitable.

Just get rid of the stupid rule ffs. It's harming the national side not helping it. With such a short playing career and very little money in Welsh Rugby, players are going to go wherever they can to maximise earnings. Would be wonderful if they could stay in Wales, but until they are paid competitively it's not going to happen.

I don't believe that turning rugby players into professional mercenaries with zero loyalty to Wales or the WRU, and having loyalty only to themselves (after the WRU has invested heavily in them) is going to be great for Rugby here.
Every team on earth are trying to their players back home, not scatter them to the four winds.
You think Ireland would be where they are, if all their best players were playing in England and controlled by English spivvy owners?

They haven't invested in them they have taken 2.5 million away from each reason and they also have to pay 2 million a year to the WRU for the COVID loans that the WRU took out on their behalf!

The Ospreys did offer him a contract but it was a low ball considering he was a Wales international. What I mean is he was on an academy contract they then offered a "low for a professional" contract which was still more than his academy so technically not a low ball and a low ball. That's why Jarrod Evans is apparently still eligible as he never received a contract.
