IF the grave has a stone, fine a stone cutter and see what thay say.
I asked what the deal is with another person's reply about a baby. If you don't like it KAREN, then cry in a corner. You could always just answer the question that I honestly asked but that's probably too traumatic for you for whatever reason. Either way, I don't care. 😭😭😭
You could hydro seed the section of the yard that isn't growing grass. It's common in Australia. Would be cool to see that process if it's available to you :)
With all those rusty metal bits, could that soil be *too* rich in iron?
You could try to reduce the PH on a test patch.
14:40 There is a site that says Greenwood Cemetery in Chickasaw county is the correct cemetery.
Cole, I used to be in the monument business and I can tell you that it is not uncommon to cut a stone and find out there was one already for the person. This happens when families lose touch with one another. I would ask the family to make sure he has a stone and what they would like for you to do with the stone you have. If he has a stone there is nothing wrong with disposing of the extra stone. That stone would cost a lot more to get refinished so it can be used again and it's just not worth it. I used to use stones that had flaws or mistakes for pet grave markers. I would just cut a stone like that in half and flip it over and square up the edges with a hammer and chisle and cut the letters for the name of the pet. I always offered these used stones to people that simply didn't have any money. Most of the time I gave them away and took care of the cost myself to try and help people out.
Im a current monument guy doing mobile inscriptions. The number of times youll go out to do an inscription and it’s already done boggles the mind. Also the company i work for uses the messed up markers for charity markers for people who cant afford one
@@pamacons My great grandpa used to do this, i have his huge 4 wheel hand dolly that has big heavy braces on the top ends of the handles so you can lay the heavy stones down flat to work on them while they are still on it. Its like a 2 wheel hand dolly but on steroids with dually wheels on each side.
Ok
Hey Cole the 480 C case has a liner leak watch when your dad drains the oil the first 10th of a second is pure antifreeze coming out.
I thought I saw something green @14:22 !
...And was worried about seeing something brown @14:27 !
I noticed something looked strange when the plug came out myself
Slowed the video to max slow and froze the video and sure enough! That's definitely a goodly amount of antifreeze settled on the bottom of the oil pan! Good Catch! Now hopefully One of them will see your comment and do something to address this!
Yep, also noticed the antifreeze in the oil. Was about to comment when I saw this comment.
I saw that too good eye
As a farm manager, I can tell you that many non-operating landowners appreciate a mowed roadside more than many things if they drive by. It's everyone's reputation at stake at the coffee shop, good machinery pickup for something that doesn't typically provide a return.
I know here in Missouri, if there was a mistake made on a stone, or a upgrade has been made, you can take the old stone to the Momument company and they can grind it down. The stone can then be use it for a family that might not be financially able to afford a stone for their loved one. Just an idea.
that is a very nice idea.
Roy E L Martin from “Find A Grave” is listed to be in Greenwood Cemetery, Nashua, Chickasaw County , Iowa, USA his parents and two brothers are buried there too.
Great progress all around, Cole!!!! You'll get the yard in shape and before you know it, you'll be wondering why you planted so much bluegrass!!!!! Blessings!
I loved this video. So much like your earlier videos. Reminds us how kind, responsible, and entertaining you are.
That old grain dryer is going to be quite a bottle neck in the corn harvest if they start at 25% moister;) once the wet bin is full that 12 row machine will only combine 4 hours a day and be waiting.
I love your sense of humor!! You’re so quick on the uptake!! Miss your sister’s channel. I hope she’s doing well.
Cole you never cease to amaze me. That is so kind of you trying to find Roy's plot to put that stone. And then you turn the page and you are at dozer school!! Is there anything you haven't tried? Great video my friend.
So kind that they let the stone sit on their property for 30 years...
Glad to see you continuing cleaning up the farm and equipment. It gives you a lot of pride in your labor and ownership when you do a drive by. I t makes it all worth while and the neighbors all admire what you are doing! Congratulations! You have earned it!
Actually that is what made me start watching you and subscribing. A young man going after it and continuing what Grandpa sweat over all this years, in an organized way. Keep it together son.
This is where the experience and skill of good operators come in. Cats (bulldozers) are operated largely on feel, as you cannot see how deep you're cutting with the blade. Decel pedal takes getting used to as well.
I would take the stone to the cemetery where his parents are buried and let them have it. Again, another busy week at Cornstar Farms. Thank you for sharing it with us.
That giant lawn mower you got looks like fun. It's nice to do something that you can see the results right away.
Maybe you could make a little corner flower bed somewhere on your property and put the marker there in honor of the sweet little angel that passed. Who knows, he could be your guardian angel and that stone was there for a reason. Just a thought.
Your concrete crew knows how to form a sidewalk. My hubby has been doing concrete professionally for over 30 years. Cutting the stakes level with the top of the form allows for easier screeding.
Its easier for sure but if you want to reuse the stakes then you work around them. Dam things cost a fortune like everything right now.
Oh, the memories Cole, I remember my first time, 1970, 8 yrs old Caterpillar D4. Such fun times, I was on a silage pile in dad's old bunker silo. Mind you, that D4 wasn't anything near as fancy as Ron's, but the D4 is still my favorite to this day.
I worked for dad in logging in the early 70s and just remembered running the D4 for skidding logs--thanks for that.
My first was my grandpas d65 swamp dozer. I watched him push a match box across a field without scalping a blade of grass. I wish I could say I’m that good, but the old timers did it through feel it’s all gps these days. Although every now and then I turn it off and spend a few days feeling the d11. I still prefer the Komatsu over the caterpillars only because I spent those years learning with grandpa.
I'm not a agronomist.but it's my understanding grass seed has to stay wet until it roots good. Some people this time of year run sprinklers for two weeks straight lol.straw mulch may help idk.
Love your show! Praying for everyones health and the wonderful crop yields!! Thanks Cole.
Cole, the old backhoe got some engine troubles, when the oil plug came off it was pure antifreeze, Case had a bad problem with liners pitting and the Orings on the liners could both cause it, later models came with a water filter that helped alot
We had case for a week in 1980s . Over heating head gasket . Never ever bote one again. And johndeere ever after.
@@harveymanwarren1876 we've ran Case equipment since back in the 1970s we have always had really good luck with CASE equipment, over the years one or 2 transmissions and one engine we overhauled and they've been over thousands of acres over the years
I thought I saw green too
@@brandonhoad9033 oh yea
@@lukedesselle2491 LIQUI MOLY Molygen motor oils are bright green. And used oil thst has been renewed again .
Daddy Corn Star..did my eyes deceive me or did the backhoe oil contain some coolant as well? Just for a split second so it's not much but it's still there
Cole good job on the bulldozer, I hope you new grass grows this time with the fresh earth.
The grain bin sight is coming together real nicely. I can’t believe that only 7 weeks until harvest. Stay safe and god bless
I do love the fact that you folks put so much emphasis on vehicle maintenance, care, and repair. Hopefully folks get the grasp that every piece of equipment and vehicle is an investment and lack of care can cause more damage and more costly repairs.
So much emphasis that the oil drain plug was braised in place for the last 3 years and never had an oil change...
The farm looks great. You have all made your farm beautiful. I hope to see more 100yo farmhouses renovations.❤️
Is your sister Summer okay?
I’ve noticed she hasn’t posted in a couple of months and I haven’t see her on Nave’s channel either.
I hope everyone is okay. Your family has been through a lot lately.
Also RIP🐾🐾
Summer posted on her video that she was taking a break from social media. It stresses her out too much. Sad really, she gives up her nursing career to edit full time for Cole and less than 6 months later she's doing neither. What a waste.
@@JCrook1028 She can always go back to nursing. There's a shortage so she should be able to get a job easily if she wants to.
Only half your audience got your "Da Plane" joke, DC! I was there with ya!
So are you calling those of us who got the de plane de plane joke old ?
How do you know DC wasn't just asking for M&Ms ? The ones without nuts.
You dont look out the front window but the side windows and your blade corners. The front window is for using your exhaust pipe to line up to a point of reference ahead of you
I’ll tell ya there is nothing more satisfying as taking an over grown area into a nice looking maintained field
Dang that's the cleanest the Case has ever been. Nice work on the dozer! 🌽🌽🌽🌽🌟🌟⭐️⭐️🌟🌟⭐️⭐️🌟🌟
Great Video Today!, You did pretty well for a first time operator, Must be all of those hours in the Skid Loaders 😉..... Nice seeing Ron today and he is Awesome, reminds me of DC when he put Jim's boy in the Skid Steer last year when getting ready to pour the Bin Pads. DC and Ron are right .... It's Just dirt and there's no better way to learn than by jumping in the seat. Do You think that dead spot in the back is where all of that lime was when Ron was burying stuff last year?..... Just a Thought..... As always thank You for Bringing us along on these journeys.... BTW..... DC needs and deserves a Newer Backhoe with how much you guys use it for the farm and cemeteries 😉
Good job on everything Cole, and I love the good spirited mode you share with ever video. May the Lord Jesus Christ bless you and yours always and may it rain good for your farm's needed water ... sooner than later
Love seeing you run the dozer. ALL BY FEEL. I've run dozer at my work and no you can't see the cutting edges or see how much material is on the blade. Just got to feel it. Takes a lot of practice and time to get good for sure. First time looks like you did all right and you didn't get stuck. Like i did, in the first 15 minutes of running a D10 lol
Pretty quick study on the bulldozer, Cole!!
Cole, I already see cracks in the fresh concrete. Every time you lay concrete use Fiberglass Rebar - also known as FRP, GFRP or Composite Rebar as it won't rust and expand and crack the concrete. Most of all ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS, use Concrete Reinforcing Fibers either stainless steel or fiberglass, called Fibermesh. KEY BENEFITS
Reduced incidence of early age plastic shrinkage cracking Improved load capacity and ductility
Protection against freeze-thaw cycles
Better cohesion in the fresh concrete
Increased abrasion resistance
Higher flexural and shear strengths
Reinforcement replacement
Joint Extension
Actually reacted with a smile when you paused and said 'ears' to DaddyCornstar. That little act of kindness is what life and love is all about💪👍
You mentioned putting a picnic area in one of those groups of trees and you need someplace to put those big stones you have been piling up, make a windbreak wall and put the marker there. Call it a memorial wall or Roys wall. Home for big rocks that no longer roam and are tired of rolling, cause they have a cornstar home. Not a bad place to put rainbow pets, just carve their names on a nice big rock, company for the too soon gone.
Thank you Cole!
If Roy already has a marker in place, take that one to a monument company and have them reface it with August's info and gift it to Cooper.
That’s an amazing idea. Offer to the family if they really don’t want it, that’s a great idea
Or we can get a quick thing together. Broke my heart, as it did many others and especially Cooper. I have to say I am really impressed with Coopers mechanical abilities :)
Good idea!
I think that would be great to remember Augie!
You can bring that lawn mower to my yard, actually it's getting more like a jungle. DC,you got muscles. I enjoyed watching the video and big thumbs up crew. It would be nice to be able to return the headstone to the family.
Cole you can have the headstone ground down and recut as a surprise to your brother to use it for your brother's puppy August .... just a idea if the other person already has a headstone
Give it some love Daddy Cornstar. Maybe Summer can help you refurbish the seat.
Donate the stone to a place that sales headstones. Could be used as a display piece
Great video! Content kept me very intrigued! Good luck on your bulldozing adventures 🙃
Hello again Cornstar people!! Love watching all you do!!
I enjoy watching Ron too. He handles his equipment amazingly!!
Happy Birthday Cole! Sorry if I'm a day or so late!🧁🍧🎉
It coudl be your grass seed washed away, I always see lawn care professional cover grass seed with straw or something to hold some moisture in.What can happen without cover is it rains the seed sprouts then the ground dries ot and he sprout dies.
Soils test before you cover the dead spot cause the new cover could die too.
You have to test the soil! Years of leaking crap makes it not safe to plant.
At the cemetery I do burials in we have a state school client that somehow got two stones. One was shipped to me. When I went to place it one was already there so I just put it by one of the storage sheds. 12-15 yrs later it still lays there. Shame to really cuz the extra is the pink granite while the one on grave is gray. I guess if you can find the cemetery take it there and leave it. Maybe town or county clerks can help you find him.
Try to find the actual burial site with stone. If you find it at a gravesite, you could donate the stone you found to a stonesmith.
1:30 Haha Daddy Cornstar remembers some classic TV Fantasy Island !
Thanks for the stone update
At my old house we had a few grave stones that were used as stepping stones out to the garden.
Please wait awhile in the spring before you mow the roadsides. There are nesting birds called killdeers that nest on the ground. Just mow at the corners so drivers can see then later you can mow the rest.
The recommendation from Roadsides for Wildlife is It's fine to mow roadsides after August 1.
Cole if you can't get grass to grow in the empty area. You might want to consider seeding it with clover. It doesn't need mowing, needs less water, and feeds honey bees and butterflies.
I enjoy seeing dad in the videos. I would like to see more of him.
If you would like to knowwhat kinds of things the new brush mower can cut through check out Diesel Creek or IDIGIT4 both do a lot of things with similar attachments .
We need more FARMHOUSE RESTORATION videos Cole!!!
think the hold up is the price of lumber currently.
@@Torthak I can understand that.
Yes
Weather dependant and farm stuff first...always.
@@Torthak I really thought, at least some of the stuff I have priced, that lumber came down a LOT, kinda like gas :)
Don't say you'll take all of the rain you can get because there are areas that are getting huge amounts. New Zealand was getting about 7 inches a day.
DC is a beast, lol! Love your videos! Never miss one!❤️
Cole you put the "Bull" in bulldozer. That's very cool your trying to place the stone.
Add a space there on the farm for this stone to rest and wait on the final spot to be found. If no luck in locating the site then you should honor the stone and remember the infant who didn’t survive. I know you’ll figure it out.
I do see some potential in your operating skills. You know good help is hard to find, just be careful, once it gets in your blood, it's hard to quit. I know, I've spent a life on tracks. Keep up the good work.
I enjoy seeing Dad in the videos. Would like to see me more of him.
Put the headstone off to the side somewhere and come back to it later. Eventually, you'll figure out it's forever home.
It’s a straight blade Cole,,,, you’re not supposed to see it. It’s a combination between feel and watching the windrows off of the corners. Also, faster is better when you’re spreading material. Makes the speed bumps farther apart.
With that cutter you can make good side money if you have time in summer like deer food plots fields stuff like that
Hey Cole, just saw Nave's channel, the next thing you should buy is a ring.
Didn't he mention bachelor/Bachelorette parties this week? Of course he did not say whose.
Don't mow ditches! Pheasants forever!
Even though Roy only spent one day on this Earth we're still talking about him many many years later.
God's ❤️
Your place is going to be beautiful when you get all done with it.
You have a ton of sweat equity
And dollars. Corn Star Farms is going to be top notch !!!
Each year concrete more and more around the bins like Larson's do . Helps with clean up
Good job with the dozer, Cole 😁👌👏👏👏❤️❤️
Get that grass growing! 😎
Looking forward to SImpliSafe coming up to Canada, seems like a good system
Hey DC might want to check the case backhoe engine oil. It looked like coolant came out before the oil could be a liner or gasket issue. Good luck at harvest guys
*Thanks for watching send a direct*
*message right away I will love to hear your*
*thoughts on it and for more enlightenment👆❤️*.
Good job on the bulldozer, Cole!
I wamt to see you bring the old dump truck in and service it and give it good wash.
The key issue as far as Roy’s relative contacting you and telling you that the last they knew Roy had a stone, is when was the last time they actually saw the headstone in place? If a relative isn’t willing to go put eyes on where the stone should be, then ask the folks that manage that cemetery to check to see if the stone is still in place. Simple fix, no??
Took them 50 years to buy one
Right. Roy's stone might very well be in Cole's yard somehow - as in yeah he has a stone, but it's not actually in it's proper place. Time to lay eyes on Roy's grave and ensure his stone is there.
If it is, awesome! New conversation piece, if not, now you know where it goes.
Hey DC looks like there was a little coolant in the oil on the backhoe when you drained it. Or maybe I was seeing things.
This video was one of your better ones with good content.
I don’t think anyone think your family as “junkers”. Your Grandfather was from a different era where you saved what you had because if something happened down the road you could adapt it for a new purpose. You, your brother & Dad have a different out look on life & items. That is they serve a purpose then they are kept. If not then they are better off serving a purpose elsewhere. You all take pride in your farms, land & crops. You also take pride in preparing gravesites for families. I can see where mowing outside the field definitely cleans it all up & makes it look nice. Great job everyone. It takes an entire team to make it all successful. ♥️🌽. Prayers your harvesting & systems you had put in all work accordingly. 🙏🏼. I would return the stone to the family. Maybe there was an error & 2 had been made. But put that decision on the family of what to do with the stone. I would think the health department would have records of an infant passing & at
Least where the body was transported to. Back then could have been a funeral home or maybe even a home service. Ultimately I would return to the family. After all it is their property. Let them decide what to do with it. ♥️
Hi cole and all the family. How about getting Cooper to fit a set of Pneumatic cylinders to the backhoe trailer to fold the ramps. You can use an old propane cylinder as the supply and fill it from the air compressor. You should get about 20 cycles per 90 lb cylinder. Cheers from Australia. 🇦🇺🐮🚜🧪📡🇦🇺
I've been thinking they need a solution for that since the beginning. Every time they heft those things up and then let go I just cringe! That has to be hard on it! 😬
I went to the graves yards where my grandparents are bury. They were an area where all that was there was rocks stuck up. I asked my mom about it and she said that is were the babies were bury. I would look for rocks.
Started the same way Cole, but practice, practice an more mistakes you will get better
Sorry to hear about Roy's stone. My advice is if his family thinks there is a stone on his grave then asking them to go out and confirm that would be a relief to you. Also, if his family is buried an hour and a half away its also likely the funeral home that handle the burial is outside that zone. I remember burying my great grandma the procession was 3 miles from funeral home to burial site. Honestly, she was actual buried the next town over from where she lived.
What to do with the headstone?
1. You have contact info for a family member. The ball needs to be in their court, not yours. I can't believe they didn't take that responsibility.
2. If the family declines it, contact a local funeral home or monument company. See if you could donate it and they could repurpose it for someone less fortunate.
3. If no takers on #1 or #2 above, then crush it and get rid of it. It has no meaning or value to you. It will only continue to cause questions, and who needs that?
4. Then you wash your hands of the conundrum. You've done all that you should to be a good person! 👍
I've no doubt, Cole, that you will do the right thing! 👌🥰
Umm, anyone else notice the antifreeze that came out of the oil pan of the backhoe? No bueno 😟
Offer the stone to the family. They may have a memorial garden for him.
Enjoying the show
Well at least now I know the cemetery you do your work for :). Love your videos, and try to get anyone to watch to see what real farm work is like. Wish I was young enough to try. BTW first time driving a dozer John Deere 850, from lot at factory onto a rail car, boy was that a rush. We used to go out to lot at lunch, jump in one, and run the AC :)
They work at like 15 cemeteries in the area.
@@JCrook1028 yep and until this one I just knew it was in Iowa. Add the wind towers in (I believe Iowa has several thousand) 15 cemetaries is a pretty good area as well. Just excited to find which part of the state. Ironically I found birth family in 2015) and much of my ancestors are in Fredericka area cemetaries.
my Son took his family on vacation. Tonight after work, I get a FaceTime call from my Granddaughter asking if I watched the newest Corn Star video.
Lol, Cole you are a hero! My 6 year old Granddaughter loves your channel enough to call her “Old School” to ask if I’m keeping up.
Keep up the great work!!!!
I think you should probably chalk the stone up to perhaps a mistake and crush it up. It's always going to be a distraction. If the family said the baby has a headstone and doesn't need one it's best to put it to rest too.
Maybe there was a misspelling on the Grave Stone. Gerry (Jerry, Geri) can be spelled many different ways. At this point maybe take it to a stone engraver to have the lettering cut off. Could be reused, for a person or pet. I think you've tried your best to get it to it's proper place.
Is it possible for you to give us an update on the problem with your contractor who built the grain bins and the legs? As I recall there were several problems with how they were constructed and we don't know if those problems were ever fixed or if your contractor made good on it?
My guess is that the lawyers are still dealing with it, which means he's not allowed to discuss it
@@jarrettfullerton2580 You are probably right, I wonder if it will impact their ability for storage at harvest. They try so hard to do the right thing, but no matter what things always seem to go bad.
@@SctyGrpPowers I wonder about that too. It would be terrible if they had to pay for storage after all the money they spent on this setup
Lawyers...seen many disputes between home owners Lawyers and insurance Co. Lawyers over water damage...both sides just rack up hrs. When it can be settled easily...but it's a cash cow for both sides and they milk it for all its worth..it's a money game and they play it well..

Maybe I missed something or don't understand but when you came up with the plans for the bin site and the contractor took the job it seems like they did all the phases that paid the most money and left you all with dealing whatever else needed to be done or fixed.

great video Cole. Thank you
The easiest thing to do would be with a headstone would be just to set it as a flush marker somewhere remote on your property and leave it. Somebody may someday decide they want it that's part of the family. In that case you would be able to give it to him.
