I work as a PO in one of the large PSUs. Including house rent and all allowances the starting salary is more than 1 lakh. I left state government job for joining IBPS PO as salary is double. Moreover work pressure is there but it is not so much. For middle class people like us this job with so many facilities is like a blessing from god.

I hope your opinion will remain the same in future. I don't know which bank you are in but I can definitely say that you have been to the scale 3 branch branch yet. Once you get posted in scale 4 or scale 5 branches or old branches which have a decent crowd. You will get to know what this buzz is all about. Nobody leaves the bank because of the salary structure. People get fed up with the work culture sooner or later.

I have 2 friends. Both of them are bankers. One of them enjoys being banker and working all day in a bank but the other one is always in search of an excuse to quit the job, she feels bored and pressurized. She is doing the job forcefully because of financial needs. So it depends from person to person. Some may love the job and some may not.

Bank job is Best for those who are ready to live alone and away from home., if he is doing first govt job in his family.Salary is Good and promotion are fastest from all fields. Work is more than other departments. Every Br has around 5 employee, in which one employee do 50% of his duty work, 2 10:43 nd does 65 % of his duty, 3rd does 75% of his duty and fourth does 100 % of his duty and 5th has to do 200 % of his duty work . This situation creates different scenarios for these 5 employees. Here somebody leaves office 5:1PM,, 5:45,6:30 ,7 PM and many times some employee has to come on Holidays also. Worst doing employee takes 40 days leave in year and some got only 20 days, so work is not more there but this difference persists. Those who feel this problem they are not happy in Bank job. Other are happy.

The banking sector has changed hell lot after digitisation of banking. Before this bank used to close almost before 6pm like govt bodies. Because of this reason bank employees able to do their job no matter whether they made for it or not, because it was so white collared one. Only transfers were hard for them then. But now i.e, after computerisation I think large part of the banking sector itself doesn't have any clue that what they are doing and what they are up to I guess. Moreover, the rigorous laborious schedule of the banking neither seem to be aiming towards customer welfare nor working as a pure business entity.
However, this training idea is bit contradicting in itself. Training and preparing aspirants to a sector where you don't want to be. It's rather be called as fulfilling the demand than mentoring and mind setting the bank job passionate ones.

Don't be this much ignorant or deceive people if you were also a banker. What is this damad attitude? Things were different comparatively in your 2014 times.. now a days this bank po job should not be called a job.. it's a bonded labour.. there is only 20-30% staff against the staff requirements. How will you survive? There is no compliments from management for your customers dealing/services. Management only want business cross selling of mutual fund nps credit cards etc. Bank po job is now purely a marketing salesman job. You alone will have to do entire work of 4-5 staff because there is acute staff shortage but they want you to complete each Target anyhow otherwise you will be embarrassed by them in front of so many officials in vc review meetings . Bank po can't have work life balance now

Aspirants must know these things beforehand to realise is it worth preparing for Bank or not.

There is no scope for personal improvement/ skill enhancement in banks. They live in dinosaur times and don’t allow any one within their ranks to imbibe skills in financial analysis , probability, statistics and analytics which are critical in today’s financial industry. The job in just human relations and management, in fact calling them bankers would be wrong as they don’t do any technical analysis which are seen in investment banking , mergers & acquisitions, equity investments etc.
