I was there for this concert. The problem was that, after Pirana played, the sound man must have become all excited because he simply added volume so that all that followed was out of balance and distorted. But what a great, underrated band Pirana is (I say "is" because I believe they are still around - but I may have to be corrected here).
Luckily for me i saw pirana twice, second time i mistook Richard Mcewan for a roady simply tuning a guitar before the gig but then they started to play and he blew me away. That Gibson SG guitar sang like a bird.In fact both guitarists were great.Love that music.
I always loved JIm Yonge's drumming in that era of the long indulgent solo. I saw them billing on the Deep Purple, Free, Manfred Mann 3 tour in Sydney and many thought they stole the show
@wolfmusic this Tony Hamilton you speak of...he still going?...coz after watching a few Piranha clips an seeing him on my Sunbury DVD i have concluded..he's a fking monster player eh
Best cover of Santana's track I have ever heard...
