As someone who was just faced with buying a new car and wanting a CUV, I had these options as well as the RAV4 and CR-V. The first car I drove was the CR-V. Though the CR-V had everything I wanted, including Honda's reliability, the CVT, overall dullness and that I saw 8 identical ones on my test drive dismissed the CR-V. HR-V just didn't have the spark I need when making a final decision. The RAV4 with the options I wanted priced itself out. The CX-3 just didn't make any sense. If buying an SUV, space is necessary, which the CX-3 lacked considerably. I drove the Jeep and it hit my heart just right. It's not fast by any means, but did everything I wanted and then some.I got a 2016 Latitude FWD with auto a/c, keyless entry w/remote start and the my sky power roofs and dont' regret it at all. It has personality, great cargo space and power.
Emme, you are and will always be my FAVORITE reviewer!!!! Nice job once again. This review, as comical (in a good way) as it is, it was super informative.
would really like to know what sort of running costs are built in too, and how much of that does the company cover under standard warranty also is there an extended version of the review? Lotta details have seem to cut edited
I'm glad I'm not the only one that can't see the logic in comparing these totally incompatible cars that share nothing other than the basics (4 wheels, engine and gearbox etc).
Fuck! Mazda cx3 needs +5 cm in the back row and +5 cm ground clearance to be perfect. That could be done very cheaply. They intentionally made it smaller to force you pay more money for cx5!
I'd question that laundry basket rating on the CX-3, unless you could close the rear lift gate without the cargo in the rear spilling over on those poor little tykes squished in the back seats.
Those Goodyear Wrangler SR-A tires are the only things that let the Renegade down when the road disappears. Slightly better tires would do wonders for that little thing.
Yeah specially the 1.5 turbo. I think when they do the mid cycle refresh they'll put the turbo in there. The only issue is that they have to make that turbo work the awd system.
Sticker price means nothing. While the Jeep is the most expensive on paper, dealers discount them. The Japanese act like they are doing you a favor by taking your money. The Jeep in the real world will be cheaper then the Japanese.
Go with a HR-V for practicality, CX-3 for engaging driving, or Renegade for offroading. I'd probably have a family if I was going for a vehicle in this class, so the HR-V takes the cake for me.
Like always in this sort of comparo the victory goes to the most mediocre. And I'm not saying that anyone of these is bad and I also agree with that result. But personally I would have chosen the Range Rover Evoque. Here in Europe the title (of the most mediocre) goes to the TDI VW Golf, like always. Don't take it to seriously :)
I think the Mitsubishi Outlander Sport and Subaru XV Crosstrek are both better cars and better values which is odd that they're older entries. Both are bigger and can be had with AWD and popular options between $25-30k, less if you're frugal.
B000gnish I think the Mitsubishi Outlander and Subaru Forester compete among CX5, Rogue, CRV and Rav4. The Outlander Sport and XV Crosstrek are a bigger than the subcompacts but smaller than the small suvs and are priced the same as the compacts. Unless you need a smaller compact crossover for parking limits I think the Outlander Sport and Crosstrek are more car at the same price.
I don't need the extra space and the smaller cars are more fun to drive. I need awd where I live. I think these cars have more in common with the impresa than the crosstrek.
B000gnish I agree for your wants and needs the CX-3 is more fun to drive. My criticism is most compact CUVs are small(Juke), slow(Trax), and get expensive(Renegade) quite easily. If you think the Impreza is close to these I'd wholeheartedly recommend test driving one. The Impreza is faster than the HRV and Renegade and you can get a manual too.
....HUM ...THEY ALL LOOK ALIKE EXCEPT ONE TO ME ..BUT ONE WENT UP THE HILL ..AND THE SAME ONE CAME DOWN THE HILL ..AND I BET THE RADIO STILL WORKS JUST FINE! ..MAYBE THE ENDING WAS WRONG! ..THE CHOICE IS CLEAR ..DON'T BUY A CLONE!
Good clip! Just a Note thats not a real "JEEP".... Its a fiat 500. SO do some research and you will see. Also the OFF road part. They did not carry speed in the Honda thats a big deal. My Audi with a LSD AWD would run that "Jeep" into the ground! Don't believe me? Just look up Audi's rally history! Audi AWD > Subaru AWD > other cars AWD > Fiat AWD... That "jeep"thing, is junk! Buy a Rav4 !
f*ck practicality! I'll take the Mazda!

yes , people keep complaining the lack of practicality of cx3 .. but for your information, cx3 sells like a hot cake
the Renegade is the best selling Subcomompact (even better than the CX-3)

I could not spend money on something as bland as hrv. Honda makes seriously uninspiring looking cars.
reupload?

+Subbiah Palani Ramalakshmanan not many car reviews even talk about those. that's something you can find documentation for on dealer websites.
Near segment, I like that emme is on roadshow aswell!
Great review ! Now I know how capable the Jeep is.
For months I was drooling over the Renegade and come December I'm more than likely still gonna chose that. But the Mazda CX-3 looks very awesome.
DeadMarine1980 I have a cx3 and I love it.
Did I miss something? Cx3 FWD VS AWD.... STRANGE TEST
I'm glad I'm not the only one that can't see the logic in comparing these totally incompatible cars that share nothing other than the basics (4 wheels, engine and gearbox etc).
I like this new Rivals feature.

They intentionally made it smaller to force you pay more money for cx5!
I think they took a Mazda 2 and lifted it for a little more ground clearance, not sure if it would be make the cx3 longer.

good verdict, but I would still rather have a the jeep because if I'm getting an suv I'm getting an suv you know.
@@M42135 FCA has been improving. To be fair the jeep doesn't seem to quite be following that trend, but I'm willing to take a risk.
Less cargo room than the Honda tho.
BS The Jeep wins for country use.....No City here
nowadays it wins for in 'my' city aswell..all these poorly maintained concrete roads, speedbumps etc...renegade wins every day !
I think once Honda drops the new motors from the civic in the HRV it will definitely be best in class no doubt
Yeah specially the 1.5 turbo. I think when they do the mid cycle refresh they'll put the turbo in there. The only issue is that they have to make that turbo work the awd system.
omg! will u guys stop with reuploads!
Love my jeep, hands down!

The Honda or Jeep are the Best choice.
Emme using her laundry basket rating system from TFL Car :p I guess she owned the copyright on that
*From RoadflyTV.
Ok I have a desert hawk renegade I would put the bike on top,I don't haul laundry around and u can't just cram car seats in there this isn't India
Go with a HR-V for practicality, CX-3 for engaging driving, or Renegade for offroading. I'd probably have a family if I was going for a vehicle in this class, so the HR-V takes the cake for me.
Can I take Tim?
cnet on cars please!
Navigation and stuff? Dude Wayne, who gave u the job? U can't be specific on any thing?
no way renegade eat all jeeps on lunch

and then you look at the optionlist....Jeep wins all day!
And much more fun in the honda? Hell no !
Nice
Emme!
Emme - come back to TFL. Roman misses you.
I don’t like the guy in the jacket
Wayne's gotta go
Before I even watch this.....Mazda! Looks do count!

+Kamaka Chang those are more like a CX-5, Rogue, CRV, Rav4. Mitsubishi and Subaru do not have an entry in this segment

Tim and Emme did a grat job in this comparisons video but Wayne better get off this video....Antuan and Brian is better than you,Wayne.
what the fuck are these car makers thinking with those screens on the dash sticking out like a sore thumb? ugly design as fuck!
It has become a trend for some reason.
....HUM ...THEY ALL LOOK ALIKE EXCEPT ONE TO ME ..BUT ONE WENT UP THE HILL ..AND THE SAME ONE CAME DOWN THE HILL ..AND I BET THE RADIO STILL WORKS JUST FINE! ..MAYBE THE ENDING WAS WRONG! ..THE CHOICE IS CLEAR ..DON'T BUY A CLONE!
That color is sexxxy. Jeeep ❤️ or Mazda but Honda sucks balls
And the Winner is.... The Subaru Crosstrek. # whereisCooley
If you don't think that the Mazda looks the best you have terrible taste.
symphonyh it looks sporty but that doesnt mean it looks the best. The jeep stands out the most. Doesnt mean irs the best. Yep.

the renegade is not good offroad, it's horrible
Mine has gone places these other two toys would never get to the Renegade trailhawk is pretty awesome
????
Um, have you even been off road with one of those things? Maybe you just aren’t a good driver or haven’t even driven it before. Stick to motorcycles
