അരിഷ്ടങ്ങൾ || Arishtam better avoid in Such Conditions

Arishtam and Asavam are types of Ayurvedic medicinal preparations that involve fermentation. They are mainly used for improving digestion, enhancing the therapeutic properties of herbs, and delivering the medicinal components in an easily absorbable form.
Arishtams are prepared by fermenting herbal decoctions with sugars for a specific period. They usually contain self-generated alcohol, which acts as a medium to extract and preserve the active ingredients of herbs. Asavams are similar but use fresh juice instead of decoction.
They are typically indicated for conditions where digestion and metabolism need support, such as in certain types of indigestion, poor appetite, and certain respiratory or nervous system disorders. They are also used for rejuvenation and detoxification purposes.
However, they should be avoided in cases of alcohol intolerance, liver disorders, pregnancy, and in children unless specifically prescribed by a qualified Ayurvedic practitioner. They should also be used with caution in diabetic patients due to their sugar content and in patients with a history of alcohol abuse.
