You should ALWAYS connect water to a pressure washer before starting it. You can/will damage the pump if you do not.

I pulled my carb 2x cleaned needle valve jet all other ports... Still just started with a gas soaked air filter then died. Decided to watch a video before buying a new carb. Glad I did. I didn't think to look at the banjo bolt on the float bowl. Cleaned and poked a wire through the holes and it started right up. Thank you for posting this video.

Great video, just helped me repair my B&S power washer. I knew she was getting fuel starved and I took off the carb and cleaned it all and it was still not starting or idling rough. I checked out your video and realized there is a jet/channel in the bolt that holds the carb bowl! Went back out, pulled the bolt off and sure enough, was plugged solid. Cleaned it all up and she started first pull like new! Thanks a bunch!!

Well went I go to clean my carburetor out I always clean all the holes then putting it back together I'm adding a gas filter to mine i noticed the gasline on mine was last changed in 2004

@@Mike-su8si Yeah technically you should add a shut-off valve and filter on all your small engines like snowblower, lawnmower etc.

@@DanRichardFishing I didn't add no gas shut off but did put a gas filter on it. is needing a new carburetor rubber pin tip the guy I bought my pressure washer from claimed he use to work on mowers and those things and that pressure washers carburetor bowl was really dirty so I don't think he does he was just talking
But I do work on alot of different engines and other parts i don't just say it.
I cleaned out that dirty carburetor and it now runs on run instead of on choke it was clogged up in the bowl screw on the side jet hole

MBK, thanks so much for the video. I was repairing a Troy Bilt with the same engine for a friend. Before watching your video, I took the carburetor off and thought I cleaned it pretty good. After watching your video, I went back in and cleaned out the jet really good. Also, originally I couldn't get the needle out and chalked it up to "I don't know what I'm doing". After going back for the second time, I used a small flathead screwdriver and popped it out. It was also gummed up with black tar substance. Once I cleaned these two things good and put it back together, it started on the first pull.
During the pandemic, I found a few neighborhood junk pile lawnmower and fixed them up - I'm now on my 20th piece of equipment.
I really appreciate all of your videos. I've yet to come across a small engine that you haven't done a video on. Keep doing what you're doing!

It ran a little rough at first because the tiny central hole in the brass bowl nut/main jet was not cleaned out, just the larger side holes. It cleaned itself after running a while.

Had a similar problem. Clamped the fuel line, removed the bowl, used compressed air to blow out the "bolt" that holds the bowl in place. Make sure to blow out from the top single hole, not the side holes. This should clear out the jet that meters fuel to the engine. Clean out the bowl as well if there are any particles or crud in it. Did this and it starts right up now. Did use starting fluid to confirm ignition was not problem.

I've used this sprayer several times now on brick pavers, a wood deck, patio, and a driveway. ruclips.net/user/postUgkx43QMbQqu67IZadu9ou8Sg1BdrunMRNqX It has performed as expected on all surfaces. For larger areas like the decks and patios, I think I will be looking into a surface cleaner attachment to speed up the job, or at least make it a little easier. Hose and sprayer connections are tool-less, tight, and quick. I used the yellow nozzle on the concrete/brick surfaces, and the pressure was adequate for cleaning those surfaces.I am disappointed that these units are still being shipped with a nozzle storage holder that allows them to vibrate out of the holder way too easily and become lost, but I don't want to knock off a star for that reason. The functional part of the washer works very well, so I would recommend this product.

The oil in an axial cam pressure washer pump lubricates the swash plate, which drives the reciprocation of the three pump pistons. This oil is confined to that Area of the pump and only lubricates the swash plate bearings and the contact surface between swashplate and contacting surface at bottom of Pistons. Now, the pump manifold is where the water goes through, and it is sealed off from the swash housing and it's oil. There are many plastic seals and check valves within this manifold which rely mostly on water to keep cool. Although the oil lubricates the pistons and cylinders, there's a lot of friction there happening with no water to cool things, like a car engine running with empty radiator. Doesn't take a lot of heat to compromise these seals. If your neighbor ends up with milky pump oil, water is getting from the valve manifold into the swash housing, by way of the burnt up seals from running without water turned on.

  • @7Logik

My pressure washer was designed by kids or someone who didn’t fully think it through, the hook for the hose that goes from the pressure washer to wand is on the side of the handle, same side as the exhaust, needless to say every time I let someone use it they put it back on the hook for the hose and burns the hose in half, currently on my 3rd hose and this one has burns on it just not all of the way through. I like how yours is on the back and away from the hot exhaust. I will definitely watch for that on my next one, current one is only 2 years old and been used maybe 6 times so I can’t just throw it away and feel guilty selling to someone knowing the flaw

If after cleaning the carb thoroughly it still does not work or even before cleaning also check the spark plug is working and producing a spark. All an engine needs is air, fuel and spark. As long as your air filter is not completely clogged it’s either the spark plug or the carb is gummed up, usually it’s the bottom bolt that has the hole through it. These carb jets are made of brass which is a soft metal so just be carful pushing metal objects through the hole to avoid damaging the brass. Also make sure there is resistance when pulling the cord slowly, if it has resistance and does not just easily come out with no force it will start and run like new. It is easier than it sounds and you got it, you have any questions post and myself or someone on here can help out!! Good luck my friend and like I said you got this it sounds harder than it is.

I thought the bottom jet on the float bowl screw was plugged so I drilled it out. Could it be this hole was not meant to go all the way and intersect the other jet? Washer starts but runs very rought for a short time. If I force the auto choke open it will run longer but still rough.

jet I ruined it so I thought it was best to go this way.

av8dr I think the problem is that the valves will get damage, they are made to work with water and not air, air is compressible and water not. This may also affect the pump piston I suppose

Just FYI the jet orifice that really needs to be cleaned isn't the large one that goes through the side of the bowl nut but the little tiny orifice on top of the nut that leads down into the large one. That's the one that gets plugged up and causes the engine to stall and run badly.

I have this EXACT same model and exact same symptoms. That "dried gas" isn't gas. This was on sale at Lowes for a while. B&S threw in these fuel conditioner packs with the purchase. They were these little pods, like K-cups, that you screwed into the bottom of the fuel cap and they slowly leaked additive into your tank. That's what all that fluorescent horse piss stuff is. I used them on this and a couple other tools and they all stopped running. They all had gummy radioactive piss looking fuel. Had to clean out every carb and it was a bear on a couple that had small idle ports with yellow gel in them. It's difficult to clear out soft gummy bear with a guitar string.

This guy seems to have been so hung up by the fact that he got it running (simple common cleaning of the carburetor we’ve seen a million times) that he didn’t care how long he ran it without water. Long as it was running, he wanted you to keep listening and watching it run. Careless ego in my humble opinion. I got a knot in my stomach worrying about the well-being of the pump. And once wasn’t enough…”let’s see if it will restart”. 😀 Really? Why don’t you just hook up the water and then we can spend the afternoon watching it run? Nope, didn’t matter, let’s just sit back, eat popcorn and watch it run without a water supply. Dunce award on this one.

It's not recommended to run the pressure washer without water going to it, I'm working my daughters pressure wash, all you have to do is unplug the wire going to the pump under the frame, it's #6 allen head bolts , one I'm working on has 3 bolts holding on the pump motor, once getting pressure washer engine running again just put the pump back on and ready to go. same principle as running a swimming pool pump without water, if run to long it can lock the pump down.
