I'm finally starting to see or at least understand where Fantano's previous feelings about NF were coming from. I'm like a super fan of NF and all his previous works. Listened to his mixtape an unhealthy amount. Maybe I came into this new song with particular expectations in mind but this song didn't deliver at all for me. Nf has a lot of build up in this song so skipping through half of the song is going to make it sound like shit. It’s like if you were watching the battle of black water but didn’t watch any of the build up. None of the big moments would make sense and/or have their full impact. Especially with all the callbacks to older songs that you probably also skipped.

This is such a false narrative. One: a lot of rappers don't "sell their souls" and those that do usually don't last (f Travis Scott, btw). I usually agree with melon even on some of his NF takes, even though I love NF personally I can see why his music isn't for an everyday listen (at least not for most people) and I even agree on that front (again for most people), but him calling it melodramatic when this song is the least bit melodramatic in compared to his last album and mixtape especially since this song is literally about him being more positive in compared to his other songs where he talks about "putting on makeup and drowning in self hatred" is extremely untrue and shows a clear biased towards NF's sound if this is melodramatic then what are the lyrics from the entire search album??? But at the end of the day it's his opinion so that's fine I have kinda learned to take his opinions on certain artists with a grain of salt but this one was a little strange in my opinion (I also wish he watched the music video).

It comes off as a song from a musical, I'm only familiar with musicals and plays and stage production cause my gf acts, sings and directs shows. I was hesistant and unsure at first about the musicals she's obsessed with cause a lot of it came off as corny and melodramitc. (Bandstand, Legally Blonde, Rent and anything by StarKid if anyone knows or cares.) But I've loosened up, and I realized dramatic musicals often slap
