A little about me and this channel:
My name is James Aubrey IV and I just recently graduated college from Iowa State University. After college I decided to take a leap of faith. So I moved to San Diego California to pursue my passion for videography/ RUclips. Overall I'm a pretty chill person, outside of RUclips I like to longboard, dance, play video games, lift weights and hangout with my friends. I know that success on RUclips won't happen overnight but I'm willing to stay patient and put in the work to try to prefect my craft daily. This RUclips channel will be centered around my life after college. You will be able to see all of the ups and downs on my journey to success. What is the Rome Life ? And What does it mean to be apart of it?
Rome Life is something I started during my Sophomore year of high school (one of the worst times in my life) it started off as me documenting my journey to recovery from my shoulder surgery but eventually it turned into a platform that I could use to encourage myself as well as others to chase our dreams.
Rome Life isn't just a saying it's a way of life and for the people who want to be apart of it have to realize that. Rome wasn't built in a day it took a lot of handwork time and most importantly patience. So you can't expect your dreams to be any different

This list can't be legit. It seems like something made up by a group of 14 year-olds. There are precious few songs of any taste or substance on there. In fact, I'm pretty sure I could count them on one hand. The number of super-popular and heavily viewed songs that were missing is highly suspicious.
I am in my late 50’s and consider my music taste to be mostly 70s tho my taste is broad and covers many decades. I have heard of 75% of these, the weakness for me was I hadn’t heard some of the Latin and EDM. But these songs were big songs. I prefer to listen Fleetwood Mac, Bob Seger, Neil Young etc but these songs came out in the world of streaming and YT which means that is when audiences are watching. My generation listened to vinyl.
I've heard 72 of these.
I'm not surprised that there isn't older songs on here. Worldwide RUclips usage is soaring and it's all the zoomer generation. The songs that blow up HAVE to be popular with teens to make it on this list.
It's not even right. There are a lot of missing songs here. The tell for me is it doesn't include Gangnam Style, which, while it's definitely fallen from it's throne, has 4.3 billion views still at this point.
I know I'm old. So many of these songs sounded exactly the same. Why I don't bother listening to the radio anymore.

There are 6 billion people On the planet getting A hundred million views Is Not easy.
Your telling me that 600 million views is like 10% of the population watching them once or 1% of the population watching them 10 times each, as these are fairly western music groups I don't think there are more than say 30 -50 million people that would listen to this type of song.
So your looking at the same people watching these videos thousands of times each.

This is NOT an accurate list, and wasn't when it was compiled (because they ignored Gagnam Style). Also surprising to not see Radioactive by Imagine Dragons (that video would be a great reaction!!!) or Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen.
Thats one helluva a strange top 100. If I'm not mistaken some of the view counts made me double take since I though saw lower numbers. It may be a selection of top views.

Pop means POPular... They sound a certain way for a reason which is to get the attention of the most amount of people, hence the high views.

I get the impression that some adolescent teenagers hooked up a speaker system to a laptop PC, or a smart phone, then go to RUclips, and play their favorite dance music off the Internet all day and all night for free. Unless there is a large smart TV, no one watches these music videos at all, for the most part.
2 things are for what I see : First: Nearly no instruments, mostly computer generated music, Second: I hear more or less the same music with the same beats, sorry...... ( and yes, I was a DJ in the late 60's and 70's, and i'am 69. :-) )

My friend is in a rock band called Life Unknown and at a gig, they were asked to do three covers. They the rock versions of Chandelier by Sia, Diamonds by Rihanna and Blinding Lights by The Weeknd. They killed it.
Everything is bland and generic. Some good beats but mostly nothing we will remember in years. Good work anyway James.
But them being bland and generic is why so many people listen to those songs. It's what defines a pop hit , they (probably) all have the same chord progression aka I-V-IV-VI. These songs tend to be easy to remember.

Let me first say, I don't specifically dislike it.
Have listened to many songs and artists.
By only thing I have against it, is that every song sounds exactly the same.
Can listen to one or two songs at a time, but when it is being played for hours I get bored extremely fast, after 3 or 4 songs.
It is "dance music" and as such its rhythm is constant so people can dance to it. So much so that the rhythm is constant over nearly every song with no tempo changes.
And my second knock is that nearly ever singer sounds the same (to me) and they really do not have any outstanding vocalists.
There are no Bachata singers that I can say this one is someone that stands out.
For me great Latin Singers are all in other genres like Ranchero, Salsa, Meringue, Bollero, Tejano, Banda, Mambo,

Alejandro Fernandez, Antinio Aguillar, Anna Gabrielle, Mark Antony, Rey Ruiz, Danny Rivera, Huey Dunbar, Selena, Gloria Estefan, Barrio Boyzz, Julio Iglesias, etc.
(note most of my Latin Music Collection is eaqrly 1990s- late 2000s.)
I don't think these are the most view of all time. More like most viewed 21st century songs maybe?

I agree that this must be either limited to a certain time period or age group. However, you also must remember that some of the older stuff has multiple videos and covers. I’ve been doing research for a story and found 6 postings of Bing Crosby doing Teddy Bears’ Picnic, 4 of the original version, and 3 of the Jerry Garcia cover which I highly recommend.

My guess is that Psy Gangdam Style will be #1, that song had over 1 billion Views over 8 year ago, there have been at least two dozen more kpop songs that were close 6 yrs ago.
theres no way this list is for real...maybe pop songs..but all songs of all time..how is Eminem not on this list considering he's 1 of the top artist of all time
Most viewed songs is a different thing to selling lots of Eminems stuff after his break never had videos or 30+mill views so it's not on the List

I only recognized a few songs. A lot of the music sounded alike. I do hope you react to the #1 on the list. A positive note to me is I think I liked Bruno Mars. I'm gonna check his music out. I saw a movie where the college student thought he was cute. Well to me, not so much. I think I like more rugged men.

I was born about the same time as the electric guitar, so I've seen and heard it all. That these are the 100 most viwed videos is a sad commentary. These are mostly just bubblegummusic. No soul. No musicianship. There are thousands of songs much more worthy of viewing/listening. It's sad that the current generation hasn't found the real music. It's just sad.
I cant help but notice that at least 60 percent of these videos are sampled beats and melodies from 60-70-80's rock and remakes of old songs. Keep up your journey into older music.

These were the top 100 most viewed songs of all time ON RUclips. Many older videos are simply not there or never existed. In addition, RUclips has become the go-to spot for the current generation of listeners, not those of us from the 60s, 70s, and 80s. Even the most played song of the 20th century, The Righteous Brothers' "You've Lost That Loving Feeling," has only about 13 million views on RUclips, compared to the excellent, more contemporary song, "Despacito," which is at 7.4 billion views on RUclips.
React to Janis Ian, Society's Child please, she was 13 when she wrote it and 15 when she first profomed it on stage, make sure it's the full version, some versions cut out parts they thought were to over the top for white Americans.

Generally when songs were considered "not appropriate for white audiences" back in the mid 20th century, it was usually because of crude , vulgar, or sexually explicit language.
Also a lot of time songs about racism, where written in a way to smear all whites for the problems caused a a tiny minority of whites. Or in some cases like Billie Holiday's song Strange Fruit, was considered politically charged, and most people wanted politic separated from entertainment. Also for some music is to uplift not be depressing.
For example there was someone who commented about a singer that he liked and so I checked out the song, the guy had an excellent voice was a decent guitar player, but the lyrics were depressing, I said he was good but I wouldn't listen to that type of music, because it was not entertaining.
So you say the song is about racism in the 1960s all good and well, but that is not a song that I would be its target audience.
Eminem has 2 or more maybe in most viewed songs ... Not afraid and love the way you lie
mmm? where's Gangnam style by Psy? strange not to have one of the biggest hits and one of the most viewed of all time in the list? up to 4.1 billion now, in 2019 think it had about 3 billion.
Defs leaves many more viewed videos out. But also there's a far larger population now than historically. Views would be centred around more modern music even if people actually would like some of the older songs more if they got a chance to listen to them.
This is really sad. Nothing but artless bubblegum music. I hope that some day those viewers will find real music. You know, ones with actual instruments not generated using computers and synthesizers.

Of all time? OF ALL TIME??? Where exactly were they most viewed??? I am 45 and I recognized 10 songs and actually saw the video clips of 5 songs, and I watched MTV constantly in the 80s, 90s and early 00s. Not a single song from before 2020 or threre abouts. Seriously???

It’s all about who does the list. Hysterical Stairway to Heaven did not even make the list. Back in the day it was number one all time. Times have changed and so has music.
Bieber, Swift and Perry showed up a lot in that list.

This is 100 videos with the most views. Not Top 100 songs of all time y'all. There is a ton of Bieber and Ariana bc teenagers listen to them, and they make up YT's biggest market.
I've not heard a lot of these songs, but I'm gonna check some out that sounded like bangers! You guys want reactors to be open to the classics, maybe try to be open to the new stuff... you might find something you like. Everyone thinks their generation's music is the best. @@JerisEve I don't mind the sonic value of modern pop but the lyrics are definitely lacking in substance and I think pop artist and rappers need to get back to that
@@jaceproductions5034 Some of the people on that list haven't lost sight of what music is supposed to be: John Legend, Bruno Mars, Taylor Swift, Avicii to name a few. I mostly listen to Harry Styles and Asian music. Listen to the Beatles for an hour and you'll have a hard time listening to the stuff on this list.
@@JerisEve the Beatles have substance but not sound to me. I need a balance. If your music is sonically pleasing and has substance then I enjoy it. It's why I enjoy late 80's and 90s rap other than Eminem, Kendrick Lamar, jid, cordae, meek mill and 50 cent I don't like modern rap and with pop I only listen to older pop for the most pop. Mostly 80s and 90s pop like Michael Jackson, bobby brown, Mariah Carey, neyo, Joe and Tyrese Gibson

The list is BS. Gangnam Style has over 4 billion views and is the reason RUclips had to increase the max view count to a 64 bit field.
