OceanGate Titan sub ‘malfunctioned’ days before doomed Titanic mission #breakingnews #oceangate #titanic #submarine The scientific director of the company that owned the Titan sub revealed it malfunctioned days before its doomed voyage to the Titanic last year. On day four of the US Coast Guard‘s hearing over the implosion of OceanGate’s Titan sub, Dr Steven Ross spoke about a frightening mission that left him and other passengers at the surface unable to get out of the 6.7 metre vessel. He told the panel a malfunction caused the sub to crash into bulkheading, leaving one passenger “hanging upside down” and others hanging on inside. OceanGate’s founder and pilot Stockton Rush, who was one of five killed in the dive last June, was also behind the controller of the mission days before. “After we reached the surface, the platform had a valve malfunction and the bow of the platform submerged, tilting the platform and the sub to about a 45 degree angle,” Mr Ross said. “The pilot crashed into the rear bulkhead, the rest of the passengers tumbled about. “I ended up standing on the rear bulkhead. One passenger was hanging upside down and the other two managed to wedge themselves into the bow end cap.” He described it as “uncomfortable and unpleasant”. Given the knowledgeable advice and realistic concerns of others, Titan was bound for disaster in the real world of deep see exploration. Rush was clearly responsible for what happened to Titan, but the gullibility of the "passengers" exacerbated the situation. How to correct the problem(s) and ensure that it does not happen again remains the issue moving forward.

Stockton Rush will indeed be remembered for the rules he broke... what a great legacy he left behind.
He murdered those people he knew a week before what a terrible man
Bullying egomaniacs ignoring requirements.... Stockton could have worked for Boeing. Keep these sort of people away from other peoples safety.

Nah because he would have messed up your flight and you would have been dead with hundreds of others instead of him and the 4 unfortunates with him...
Humongous Ego, in my amateur opinion lead to a sense of delusional thinking. That thing of his had no business carrying people to their deaths.

His obsession with carbon fiber was clinical
That statement should be on his tombstone. You are remembered by the rules you break.
And for the delusional, arrogant, dangerous PoS you were. F, SR!
"There's a rule you don't do that. Well, I did." Yeah and it bit you hard in the @ss and took down your paying customers with you.

I've heard a number of words to describe him, 'innovator' isn't one.
Agreed. Murderer. Sociopath. Narcissist. To name just a few.
Well he got his wish. As how not to pilot a submarine to the Titanic.
He is the poster child for the reason why rules were invented in the first place. The rules are there for a good reason.
Well stock you broke one rule that everyone said you don’t break and it’s exactly what you did. Now where are you? Fish food.
It looks like everything and everyone got smashed into the aft section. The coastguard said human remains were recovered. Wonder if any were in that section.
Yeah. I have not believed this story since the beginning. But I can't understand why anyone would create such an elaborate lie
The remains are simply charcoal. The collapsing pressure hull functioned like a car cylinder. The bodies got compressed and the organic matter ignited
