I grew up in a generational Buddhist family household. I try to practice dharma taught by Shakyamuni just about everyday livelihood. I give more probes and totally support these nuns practicing martial art especially in the country like Nepal where crimes are increasing daily in the society. Nuns have right to defend and protect themselves from harmsway.
At least martial art provides them discipline and create positivity in one's mind unlike some monks here in Nepal I have seen who are out of control engaging in act like smoking, drinking , going to clubs, massage parlor etc etc. At least these nuns are well behaved and respectful towards Dharma hence more power to these nuns and big thank you.

Spiritual practitioners requires healthy body besides healthy mind. That is why kungfu practices help them keep in good physical condition. Even if you look at prostration it is also form of exercise or yoga.

I feel the discipline that martial arts gives , and mind body awareness is very good.
However one needs to anchor everything one dies in sense restraint training, not being lead by impulses of the mind but guided by wisdom. Then one see the path to be free from self view, sakkaya ditti.

Their primary job is to study teachings of Buddha then to practice it n to teach. If they want to practice kungfu, monastery isn’t the place to do it. Wearing pants is prohibited for monks n nuns after taking vows. Plus why they wearing this strange hat ?

I think one should March with time & look at the way these nuns are inspiring not only girls but the whole society with their social work & a very modern attitude.A good blend of religion, spiritualism & a spirited version of a highly emancipated Buddhist practitioners.Hats off to their zeal & spirit n ofcourse respect for their spiritual master who have envisaged this for our otherwise marginalised section of society.
