He has given us some great moments. He works hard. He is a decent squad player with some quality that is by all accounts very professional and driven.
I wouldn’t mind Arsenal selling him for a good fee. That’s probably a smart decision to make if it’s possible and everything works right.
But am I disgusted and absolutely distraught at the thought of him staying to be third choice striker? Do I hate Eddie for staying? Not at all.

Personal terms in the context of a football player refer to the individual contractual conditions that a player negotiates with a club. These terms often go beyond the standard salary and contract length. It can vary from things like bonuses, images rights to termination clauses, relocation clauses, injury clauses or even training clauses. It's rarely just salaries so can't knock Eddie on that assumption

Trossard coming off the bench is not only fresh legs and our best goal scorer, he also comes on with a big point to prove, that he can score and change the game. He doesn't always have that effect when he starts, which is why he is the perfect super sub.

On merit, Trossard deserves to start against Brighton. I get the idea that you start martinelli and bring on Trossard after little Gabby has tired the full back. But is it actually true. Has anyone actually looked properly at the stats for Trossard scoring in games he starts and games he comes in as sub. I argue that there's not much difference (Tom Canton did take a quick look i believe and said it was negligible). Also little Gabby is obviously suffering from a confidence issue at the moment and is making the wrong choices when deciding to shoot/cross/pass and when to make a decision. So wouldn't it be beneficial to have him come on as a sub when the full back is tired to help him build up his confidence on the ball. Also his off the ball work is still on point

people keep saying starting Martinelli in certain games because of his pace, but I've never seen the desired effect. When you have a player of Trossard's technique and decision making, added that he is not slow at all, I really think Trossard is just the better player. I know Martinelli is low in confidence but even when he was smashing it, he never really kept his head up often enough. He is still young though, so hopefully he improves in that aspect.

Hi Charles. On the topic of great Arsenal saves, as you're a more mature fan, like me, you may remember a save that rarely gets mentioned. In the 1990/91 season, we beat Villa 5-0 at home, and Seaman made a great save, flicking the ball away with his left hand as he was diving to his right after the shot took a big deflection. It was also a match notable for Super Kev scoring his second goal (Arsenal's fifth) against Villa's stand-in keeper after Spink went off injured. This was a time of fewer subs and teams often not having a sub keeper, so the stand-in keeper was future Arsenal star David Platt!!

On Leo's lack of celebration and the reason for it, I think managers and the sport in general need to move away from the "starter" metric - particularly for attacking players as they are the ones burdened with the task of turning or keeping the game outcome in the team's favour.
There are players who "start" and exert zero influence on a game and there are players who don't start and turn a game around 4 out of 5 times when sub'd on - Leo falls into that category.
Starter or not, impact and contribution is and should be the most important desire for attacking players - not "starting". Amount of time given for impact (minutes played) should therefore be what these players clamour for.
And leave the introduction point (starting or sub) to the managers to decide - that's what they're paid to do.
After all, we've seen players start a game, stink up the whole place performance wise and get dragged off by half time or even earlier. What's the point of the starting then...?

Hey Charles. Has Arsenal given up on signing a home grown 3rd goalie this window? It's not the most urgent thing we need to solve but there are opportunities out there. Szczęsny is available as a free agent and Bentley is still at Wolves. Very recently, Sam Johnstone handed in a transfer request and he also looks like a good option for 3rd goalie.

There has been plenty of games where Trossard has started where he has been anonymous (everyone has one) but when he comes on late he almost always impacts the game. He needs to do it more consistently from KO if he wants to be starting ahead of others. Gabby, whatever his form, brings pace and huge work rate, helping out his FB at critical times. That said, Gabby’s pace coming on as a sub when teams are having to come out to get back into games would be a huge threat for us (and something we lack without him). So ok, give Trossard the opportunity to make the left side his and if he lacks the impact we see from him as a sub, he will have to accept he is a squad player and not a guaranteed starter. Which leaves Gabby to come on as sub around the hour + mark on either the left or right for Saka.

@@rayanderson1941 I think is confidence is already shot. He is second guessing his natural game in trying to be more aware of what is going on around him. That was evident when he had an opportunity to run at a last defender at Villa but slowed himself and then played a poor ball behind Odegaard and Saka. A few games off the bench, coming on when defenders are tired might do him some good but the problem is, he is our only real pace. That is a quality we will really need with the away games we have coming up.

From my perspective, he could have had his pick of clubs and moved on a free, we gave him a bumper pay increase and promised him a path to the first team, even at the expense of Balogun. He's well within his rights to not want to take a wage cut to move to a lesser club. A footballers career is short and he earned his contract with some great performances. Nketiah ambition has to be questioned if he ends up staying. 25 years old and should be like ESR pushing to go and play but he seems content to just sit on the bench and become a nothing player. Clubs to blame for giving him such a ridiculous pay rise for doing nothing of any real significance. You don't give big deals to players because of a 'moment'.

I don’t think the point is Jesus is ‘only going to e out for one game (yeah, right)’. It’s the fact that he can never just be consistently fit for any length of time to have any impact on our season. Like Tomi, he is either injured or ‘coming back from injury’ (which is why we never see the best of them anymore). They never just ‘stay fit’ like Saka or Rice. Time to move on….

Even though the injury is not serious, it's one that will keep him from training and derails the momentum he had built up going into the season. I think the injury is a huge concern and has to be addressed with a signing if possible. Arsenal are depending on jesus and partey to play well and both are gambles.
