Io devo molto a Joe Cocker. Mi ha ispirato all’inizio. Mi ha colpito il fatto che un bianco avesse queste influenze soul, che cantasse come un nero. Pensai: allora non solo i neri possono cantare soul, blues, rhythm’n’blues. Allora posso provarci anch’io.
I owe a lot to Joe Cocker. He was an inspiration at the beginning. I was struck by the fact that a white man had these soul influences, and that he sang like a black man. I thought to myself, soul, blues and rhythm 'n' blues aren't reserved exclusively for black people, so I can try it too.
