Fans pay big money to attend a NASCAR race and travel great distance too. I don't care for Toyota's, but Joe Gibbs does, and I have always respected him as an honest man. He should have been fined instead. The cars are inspected when they get to the track. They are inspected before the qualify and inspected again before the race. If there was a problem, it should have been noticed during the inspection. The fan at the track and watching on TV should be left with how the race ended. Win, lose or draw and not find out that NASCAR decided to find infraction of the car after the race that they didn't find before the race. GM has always had their fingers involved in racing where they shouldn't have. Champion drag racer Bob Glidden was beating GM back in the day and no matter what GM did Glidden kept winning national titles. After a couple years of winning NHRA required Giddens car to weigh 200 Lbs. more than GM and Glidden still beat them. Hendricks has an inside with NASCAR.
It likely changed the way the air moved over the front facia, and created more downforce. Back when they were allowed to put tape over the air inlets of the front grill, they would sometimes use pieces of tape that were only about 3" wide and 3" tall. That would drastically change the handling of the car. All cars are laser measured in pre race inspection. I'm told that tolerance of the laser is 0.015" to allow for expansion or contraction of the parts by heat and cold. They used a piece of tape that was 0.012" thick so it would not be caught by the laser measuring device. It was intentional, and it was worth it if they risked getting DQ'd or possibly worse.
At this point NASCAR needs to just build all the cars themselves on an assembly line pretty much. Haul them all to the track the day before. The teams fly in and then a draw is held to see what team gets what car. Then slap that teams number on the car and driver name over the door. The driver gets 50 practice laps to set the car up to his liking. Then the cars are locked up till the next day and they go racing. Oh wait this was already tried and it failed. I don't like Hamlin, Busch or JGR but to be dq'd over some tape...? C'mon man! How much of an advantage did that give them? On the bright side, let's go Chase, 4 wins!!!
Even if it was a 0.010 second per lap advantage, it would be worth it.
JGR isn't going to risk DQ, possible fines, and maybe even getting DQ'd from the playoffs for something that doesn't make a difference.
These guys are engineers. They know exactly how to manipulate aero for max advantage. If they risked it, you are guaranteed that it was worth something on the track.
@@robertb203 yep, and rules are rules. If it wasn't an advantage then why they do it
Sounds dumb to me.
If I was going to cheat along these lines, I would have the wrap made in different thicknesses at different locations on the body.
You asked for it, you got it TOYOTA.
Felicitaciones Hamlin!!!, mi corredor favorito. A seguir asi.
no gano
Maybe they should change the name Toyota to a American name. It’s a American car not Japanese
Funny how this happens when Elliott just HAPPENS to be in third.
JGR- BS! You know what you did on purpose! suspend Crew chief and car chief for 4 races and fine JGR.
Ah hah Denny and Kyle both. Couldn’t happen to a bigger set of …….. I’m tired of them both.
If Nascar found tape on Chastain's car, he would have had all his wins reversed.
if there was tape it was scraped off when he "touched" Allgeier
@@user-kj7nw4zg1y good to know you have all the answers
It was obvious
The two turds of NASCAR got flushed.
Ok now I heard it all over a piece of clear tape ... There are rules and all cars. Must follow them ... Simple that .... Did that piece of tape make the car faster than the others ... That's the question ❓
Yes yall don't seem to realize that the smallest thing can affect the aero of the car
With any past car not really but with this new car it's really picky so yes it does affect it
Yes they did, first and second place is faster than the others.
Problem is these guys are competitive and winners without and cheats. The introduction of the new gen cars was decided on solely on giving lesser drivers an opportunity. More woke intrusion into sports.
NASCAR driving another nail in it’s own coffin…❤️❤️❤️
How so? By catching someone who was clearly trying to cheat?
@@justinmelton9178 I’ve been going to NASCAR races since 1961.I quit going over 5 years ago over the nonsense.NASCAR will never be able to get back what they threw away.Hope you have a Blessed day Brother…
typical nascar payed employees

BS This was no mistake,Cheated and caught (NO RESPECT)
