Berlin's Governing Mayor Kai Wagner sees the arrest for a planned attack on the Israeli embassy in Berlin as a sign that the threat of Islamist terrorism remains high. “We must do everything we can to strengthen security in Berlin and Germany,” the CDU politician told the German Press Agency in Berlin.

Interior Senator Iris Spranger expressed similar sentiments: “This arrest shows how great the threat of Islamist terrorism is,” Spranger (SPD) told the German Press Agency. “We will continue to take decisive action against terrorism, hatred, incitement, violence and anti-Semitism using all available constitutional means.” She emphasized that the protection of Jewish and Israeli lives has top priority.
