As someone who has an anxiety disorder and has had panic attacks in the past, this scene is great at showing how debilitating they are. Great work by the Writers and great acting by Joe Minoso.
For those who didn't know, the context was that on a previous emergency covered in the last episode of s9, Squad 3 was confined on a capsized boat. Joe was sinking and rescuing him means going double or nothing, Kelly took it and saved both himself and Joe. When Joe found out, he started having trauma in water-related emergencies and being awkward with Kelly. That's why Cruz couldn't save the girl here and Kelly had to do it. Weirdly, the solution for Joe's trauma was resolved by going through a regular fire drill in Kelly's side gig and the power of love by Squad 3.
Uh it's normal for people to have anxiety. Especially if they're part of the work force. They go through stuff every day. They see severely hurt people, or even dead people every day. Of course they are gonna have anxiety or depression issues in the future.
@@sharonabalo4238 No. Really? After 20 years of working in law enforcement, I never would have guessed it. Why don't we try finding our common sense before we shoot off our mouth. Of course, it's normal to manifest anxiety and PTSD following the kind of trauma Cruz experienced. It is simply unacceptable for someone responsible for public safety to display the symptoms on the job, where it can cause injury or death to a victim. He needed to resolve the issue instead of living in denial. Why did I have to explain this? *sigh*
@@princessb9998 He did need that push, as well as believing that Gallo was slated to replace him. I think the biggest push, though, was realizing that his anxiety could have cost that girl her life. That hit him hard. You could see it on his face. Kudos to Joe Minoso on a fine acting job.
@@sharonabalo4238 it is normal and completely okay to have panic attacks but when your job is something like this you need to make sure those around you are aware because if you freeze in the middle of a fire or at the wrong moment, you could die or you could get someone else killed.
Kelly Severide is no joke!! Such a bad azz rescue; his character is known for taking crazy but calculated risks to save a victim. With his incredibly gorgeous self...👑✊😆💞💕💗💋
Panic attacks are no joke. I have them and anything can trigger it. I had one out of the bloom a few months ago on the way home from work and had to pull over. A police officer happened to see me and my lights blinking so he pulled over to check on me. He stayed with me till I was better enough an hour or so later to drive the final 10 minutes home.
This actually happened to me (falling into a well) in 2021. It was covered over with plywood which had rotted, ironic because that’s what he suggests to use to cover it up!lol
Im still on season 6 , but severide always goes in first from diving in water , hanging down buildings to crawling into tight spaces, so did he let cruz go inside that tiny hole in first place, ptsd or not he should not do rope rescues
My very favorite show Chicago fire and my very favorite actor Kelly Semerrideand his real name is Taylor Kinney my gorgeous boyfriend taylor kinney your my dream come true babe Lu hot stuff Taylor Kinney 😅😮🎉
No, he was or still scared from his experience of almost drown, then to hear from Cap and Tony that they almost losses two firemen that day. That Kelly would not going leave him it either he get him out or both stay. Thats noble
Mr Tim, I know that and that's how Kelly is he leaves no man behind and he is always and will always find a way to help. But you see the men at 51 they are full of pride they know that they have each other's backs but they will in most cases try to fix their problems by themselves when all they have to is ask. In the end Kelly brought back his confidence and get rid of his panic attack more so that he was so enjoying doing it
There are so many terrible ideas here. First: going in head first is awkward, pointless, and downright hazardous Second: if the girl is breathing that heavily and still conscious the air if fine, so you can ditch the SCBA Third: grabbing her and lifting her out of the hole by nothing more than the strength of your hands is a terrible move. Use a rope. Quick loop around the torso, slides up under the armpits, lifts them easy. It's a standard rescue tactic for a reason.

Also being upside down would have help he probably felt very nauseous and confined it would have been terrible even for a short time
I have them myself so I agree. I'm glad it's shown in even shows like this. 😊
I love you so much Taylor Kinney your my hero and a very fabulous actor Lu hot stuff Taylor Kinney my gorgeous boyfriend 😅

Glad Cruz came clean about his PTSD. A firefighter can't be having panic attacks.

He didn’t really come clean about it until after severide watched him and pressed him about it

Agree
No Chicago fire fan would hate Severide, he's the best. He's a g
Great save by Severide, but I feel sorry for Cruz, I know he's gonna be beating himself up about it.

good thing we have Severide always ❤️
Oh yeah this is when Cruz had PTSD from that boat rescue. Good thing Severide went down in his usual awesomeness.
This is my favorite Severide moment

Well they suggested to put new plywood over it and I'm sure that was meant to be just a temporary solution until a permanent fix could be made.
Esse severid e um bombeiro. Pode deixar de ser ator cara trabalha muito bem
Me encanta esta serie , que vengan mas temporadas .
Es la mejor serie que e visto saludos desde Mexico 🇲🇽

Im a firefighter in new York city
Poor Cruz. How did she end up down the well?
I think she may have been playing football and maybe the cover on the well broke and she fell through?
OMG COOL
Good Job Kelly from Janice Sims Steele

How does someone get stuck in a well?
Hi squad 3
Sorry Cruz, you got to work on that my friend, it’s not going to look good for you record with Severide and Squad
I think Cruz is leaving soon so he can be a father
No, he was or still scared from his experience of almost drown, then to hear from Cap and Tony that they almost losses two firemen that day. That Kelly would not going leave him it either he get him out or both stay. Thats noble
Nah, he doesn't need to leave for that...
He overcame his panic attacks at the end of the episode
No

You can see the shame on his face at the end. A young girl was about to die just because he couldn't do his job properly.
Why are they sending Cruz's fat body into a well in the first place? That doesn't seem like a task he's well suited for.
