whenever kai does a review on a leica lens or camera, the sillyness stops. it's just a day out shooting what he loves. and i am jealous of that. to have day where your job is to shoot the leica is a treat.
i enjoy the fact that you guys are able to do serious reviews like this this one not messing around in your videos, and also playful ones that entertain.... keep it up, love your videos!!
I get sublimely happy to see how "romantic" Kai gets around Leica equipment (rightfully so.) Watching these Leica vids make me fade into the background of a bokehlicious world of passion photography. Like creamy peanut butter! Thanks DRTV!
@niydable We do have facebook pages for DigitalRev, DigitalRevTV, Kai W and Lok C. We can't share URL here, but it's easy to search for them in facebook!
I have lived in Shanghai since I was 9 but native to Hong Kong. Hong Kong is more vibrant than any other cities in the world in my opinion, and the people are warmer than anywhere else in the world. I spent the last 8 years in a cold city like Shanghai, only to hang on a thread that is my friends. Let me go back to Hong Kong and give me a Leica, and I will have my life back.
This review is perfect. Relevant information and a little bit of joking. Quite frankly I think digital rev put too much emphasis on the latter part in their recent videos. It feels a bit forced. Maybe they'll gain viewers faster with that new style, but those viewers will eventually get tired of it, because they're not mainly watching the videos for the cameras.
@SuperHolybasil Yes, my question was a bit strange =P What I meant to say was that the field of view in Kai's camera is like a 50mm in APS-C (equivalent to 75mm)
Damn you Kai, for each new Leica related review I see, I want to have a Leica camera more and more. But i can't afford one, maybe one of their cheapest lens. Oh well som day....
Yes, it is easy to see which brand is his favorite. But nearly anyone can own a Leica. Elton John wanted to play piano so bad when he was young that he got a paper route to pay for his instrument. It all comes down to determination when you want to acquire something badly.
Enjoyable video! I'm a BIG Leica fan so love this video. I also once owned this lens. I think this is by far at the moment the best optical offering across all focal lengths from Leica M. ....just a bit comment....Kai when you introduced its nice metal inbuilt hood, you haven't introduced that the hood when extended can be turned a bit and locked there so that it will not slide back! Hah gotcha!
Any one noticed the guy is pushing a box of "Sekonic Light Meter" at 1:06? Hard to imagine even a camera store would order Sekonic meters by the boxes!!!
Kai/Lok, can you make a review about Pentax K5 and K-r. :) My friend want to buy it because of the colors, but I dont know anything about its picture quality. If its worth the money. Thanks.
I've always find the 90mm a vestigial focal length of a time when rangefinders and their lens lineups had to satisfy the need for a telephoto. Whilst I'm sure a lot of people can use it (probably very well) (the 90mm) on a rangefinder is such so not practical.
Hi there, do you know "MagicSFXphoto" (just google it)? On their website you will find a smart free video demonstrating how to shoot incredible photos. This made it possible for Joe to take photos which leave you with that wow-effect when you look at them. It might help you as well.
Only collectors are buying Leicas .They dont even shoot pictures whit it.I have never seen a pro photographer shooting pictures whit a Leica.,They always use Canon orr Nikon gear. That it self explanes a lot.

I love how get's more passionate and philosophical about photography. Really helped me a lot in my learning days.

The best test DigitalRev TV ever made .....
DigitalRev needs a FACEBOOK PAGE!
@niydable We do have facebook pages for DigitalRev, DigitalRevTV, Kai W and Lok C. We can't share URL here, but it's easy to search for them in facebook!
one of the mellow videos of Kai
Wow really diggin that photo of the guy at the dock!
Those sample pics were awful, simply awful!
Daniel Gabriel Secară they start to get better as the video goes on. The ones at 4:28 and 5:39 aren't bad at all and are sharp in focus
No, you're awful and fat and a pseudointellectual.
what happened to the old video?

@alfonsocuiti That question contradicts itself, but that focal length would be around 115mm on an APS-C sensor.
On the M8 it would be a 100mm.
What's the difference between the summicron and summilux and elmar?

this is filmed with…? thxs
This camera+lens would be like using a 50mm in an APS-C camera, right?

More Leica lens reviews please ;) lovely pieces of glass and metal.

You know they painted a M9 pink right?
Does it block the viewfinder's 75mm frame?
that's quality made in Germany ;) all metal, no plastic touchy feeling...and the picture quality speaks for itself!
kai and lok are exceptional!!
Grazie Ragazzi! (thanks guys!)
Any one noticed the guy is pushing a box of "Sekonic Light Meter" at 1:06? Hard to imagine even a camera store would order Sekonic meters by the boxes!!!
well spotted!!!
Modern Leica lenses are expressly designed for optimum performance at wide open aperture - Peter Karbe (paraphrased / not a direct quote)
Was that Lok @ the backgroup on 0:22 ?
@MacHelpMex Are you a collector too?
what bag are you using at 3:51
this could be the best commercial for the Leica...
kai that doesn't look like your billingham bag... is it?
would it be an idea that you redoooo this test with one of the newer M bodies? 2010 is a while ago for sensor. :-)
No it’s not. The M9 was the last pure body anyways without modern fad degeneracy.
Kai is your watch a Swatch Irony Dark Phoenix Edition? If so we have the same Watches :-)
@hcoll
what do you mean?
Kai/Lok, can you make a review about Pentax K5 and K-r. :) My friend want to buy it because of the colors, but I dont know anything about its picture quality. If its worth the money. Thanks.
i just love stuff that made in Germany !
What was the song that started playing around 5:05? It was beautiful, and I want to own it. Thanks!
i uhm don't see all this superness in these pictures.....
Kai! We have the same hair, except mine is way thicker. :))
LONG LIVE THE HAIR!
@ErnieCosmo I support that idea. the noctilux 0.95 review

@ChrisAstro30 Yes. Because the D7000 says "Canon" on the front of it.
It's like a beautiful digital OM10!!
What's with your hair?
Kai, if you get a Haircut and Coloured Pinkenta I'll buy a D7000 from DigitalRev.
@Olberbabycakes I think its that she has a DSLR but pulls out a smaller possibly crappier point and shoot >_>"
Ahh!!! I dropped it!!! Woops... What am I gonna do about it?? Guess I'll have to ask the company to get me a new one... =]
I dont see it.
Could you do some more Leica lens reviews, please?
For example 21mm SEM, 35mm FLE, 90mm Cron and 135 APO.
That would be super cool!!!
Valentino Photography lel

No it's a little collar leash so it doesn't run off.
I think you guys can stop spamming eyun01's inbox now. I am pretty sure he got the message lol.... like 50 times at least.
75 is perfect for the street
