This gives me confidence to overwinter my sweet potato vines. I typically grow them in ground and they are amazing every year.

I for sure will put some in the ground this year and report back on how they do. Thank you for the inspiration!

I put sweet potatoes on lightly damp Miracle-Gro dirt and i got nice vines this fall I'll try over wintering my vines thanks for showing that this can be done.

Several years I have planted my sweet potato vine in the ground. It does fabulously, making a very nice ground cover. Last year, I planted one with my lemon tree over wintering it in the house. It did great even with the cats eating the leaves. Earlier, I put it outside where it is putting on new leaves. We are having an early spring.

Sounds great! It sounds like it wasn't bothered by the spider mites like mine were. I had a very bad year with them last summer and I am hoping all this super cold and tons of snow is putting a dent in their population right now.

I read that sweet potato vines are toxic for cats!!! Idk. Your plants sound very lovely though.

It can be tricky but it can be done and with the prices of plants rising dramatically, as everything else, knowing how to overwinter plants you know you want to use again can be such a $$$ saver.

Thank you. I am so glad you enjoyed it. Doing these videos is keeping me sane with all this white stuff surrounding me!

I followed you and did the same with exact same results. I didn't know what was going on but now I think I know. Never experienced spider mites before. I have one that is hanging on barely. I just took a cutting yesterday 🤞🏻. I kept hoping for a view of the path you cut to your greenhouse. My goodness looks like the entire side is closed off to the light. Stay safe I see you have rain now on the way. That's going to be so much water. 😬

I was just thinking I should do a greenhouse video with it being buried in snow. I was just waiting for it to be light enough to get good footage. I should whip up some of my soap spray and use it on these sweet potato vines here so they can grow more vigorously instead of trying to fight off the spider mites.

@@FlowerPatchFarmhouse After watching this I mixed up dr Bronner's basil scented soap spray with a bit of neem. Be gone little buggars! 😁

I’m currently battling spider mites and fungus gnats on the vines I’m trying to overwinter. I’m not sure that I’m winning the battle. 😩

The struggle is real! Try Mosquito Bits water for the fungus gnats along with the yellow sticky traps. For the spider mites I have been using this: sierranaturalscience.com/systemica/
So far so good this year.
