I can't believe you failed to include (in the news segment) Patrick Roy bailing on the Avs on 11 August 2016, leaving the team in a head-coaching quandary. Bednar's disastrous first season was mostly due to having to come in cold after Roy deserted the team. That was every bit as significant as the trades you mentioned.
I completely missed out on these playoffs as I went through a depression after losing both my grandparents early that year. Didn't even know that there were playoffs until I randomly tuned in to the last few minutes of the last game in time to see the game winner and the celebration. I made my grandmother a big Wings fan and we talked on the phone during every game for years including the night they last won the Cup.
The 2017 trade deadline and the off-season that followed had Bergevin making extremely baffling and questionable decisions from which Montreal is still recovering.
Did this season happen? I think there was a lockout. I know the Avs didn't show up for anything that year... All joking aside, little did we know what was coming next.
This was the end of an era of Chicago being a top team. Everything from here onwards turned them into a pumpkin (and the Aldrich situation that came to light afterwards made it seem like they deserved the decline). The reason why Tampa barely missed the playoffs (and also why Toronto made it in) was because Tampa's team was decimated with injuries
This year was weird for the Avs, it was sooo not indicative of the type team we actually had. Wouldn't have it any other way though, it landed us Cale Makar
I got to go to the last event at the Joe which was a WWE house show. Even had a rare house show appearance by Brock Lesnar vs Samoa Joe. Main Event was Cena and Rusev. JLA was where John Cena had his PPV debut.
2016-17 was a Good Year for sure pens Back to back Cups lets Go McDavids Awesome Year VGK comes next Season and seeing my favorite Teams in the playoffs again
"Coming off the bench it's Crosby. Crosby on Kunitz a shot...SCOOOOOOOOORE!!! PENGUINS WIN IT!!! AND THEY GO TO THE FINAL!!!" What a game & what call by Doc Emerick
I was very upset about the Subban - Weber trade. As a Habs fan I now know it meant it eventually led to us having another shot at the Cup. At the time I just didn't think it didn't make sense.
I guess it's a sign of old age and incipient feebleness that I remember the NHL seasons from the 70s better than I remember the seasons less than 10 years ago. For instance I don't remember the Habs having had that good a regular season so recently. Too bad the Ducks couldn't make it past Nashville because Penguins vs. Ducks would have been a neat ornithological finals.
Ottawa looked like the team of destiny. I was so mad when they eliminated my Rangers, I was sure we were better. I thought they could go for one last push but they'd probably get bodied by the Pens anyway. They were a machine for those 2 years. It would be the last time the Rangers make the playoffs under the Henrik era, save for that one-off Qualifier Round during COVID. Shame he never won a cup.
Just getting into Hockey this summer very suprised to see Colorado do so poorly, but guess they needed to be bad at some point to get the squad they have now (assuming its relatively new)
As a predsfan, i will never forget the feeling of disbeleif of how the nhl didnt want the preds atleast force a game 7. Subbans "offside" goal is the worst thing iv seen since the matt duchene offside goal....which was allowed. From all the fottage that was shown to us atleast, u coudnt overturn that goal, its just ...brainexplosion! And then the fast whistle on sisson goal..... Yeah lets not allow preds to win.....anyway, the fact that the preds were able to reach the final with johansen, who was great for once atleast in the playoffs, and fiala out, if not more.....wasent this were ellis got injury prone after this playoffs? I mean we had like 38 year old mike fisher as top center. Freddy gaudraeu as nr 2. (And in 2017). I was partly so happy and proud, but in the same time angry and frustrated as hell. But yeah that subban and sissons goal....
Ah, this is the season in which the Jackets finally click under Tortorella in addition to the Unsustainabowl. For the NYE party I went to, everyone was watching a college bowl game and I was the only one who watch that game. Fun times. Also, this postseason is the main reason I'm against the current format and should have been 1v8. Reason? "Congrats! You finished the 3rd best team in the conference and 4th overall! You're reward? You start the post-season on the road because '**** you!'" To be honest, the team was freefalling after clinching the playoffs and have no clue if Murray didn't injured himself during warmups...
CBJ have their best season in franchise history and get matched up in the first round with one of only three teams that finished above them in the overall standings. Worst playoff format in all of the major sport leagues
How on earth could you not put SENATORS Cinderella run in the title??? More bias. If only Erik Karlsson had passed to Stone instead of shooting the Sens would have been in the SCF.
Pekka Rinne is still too good right now
Urinatingtree would be proud...
Well what do you know, the f***ing Penguins?
I'm going to jinx this aren't I?
I still hear that in my head whenever I see my gold jersey and I want to cry😭
This was also the year that CBJ went on a 16 game win streak in addition to the 10 goal home win against Montreal

2016-2018 playoffs were so good, hasn't even been close since
2019 was the best
All of them won by the team that won the Capitals-Penguins series in the 2nd round.
@@jacobeberhardt1649 yup thoes 3 years some of the best playoff hockey I've seen, then that pens sens game 7 wad crazy
@@GeorgeLahey420 That game 7 both made and ruined Erik karrlson
My 1st season watching hockey, so nostalgic 😌
Same same 🙂

this is where my era watching hockey began. crazy how different even 9 years ago was
The 2017 trade deadline and the off-season that followed had Bergevin making extremely baffling and questionable decisions from which Montreal is still recovering.
June 29, 2016 was one of the most bonkers moments in recent NHL history.
Best NHL Season I’ve witnessed in my life!!!!!! Forever a staple in my teen years
"Coming off the bench, it's Crosby..."
I'll never forget the finish to that 2OT game against the Sens.
The year I started watching this channel.
That Oilers run was absolutely electric I was in grade 7 and finally being able to watch the Oil the postseason was a lot of fun
Montreal had a 13 game winning streak over Toronto at this point. That would end next season.
Did this season happen? I think there was a lockout. I know the Avs didn't show up for anything that year...

2017 could have had a rematch of the 2007 SCF, that would have been interesting.
I got to go to the last event at the Joe which was a WWE house show. Even had a rare house show appearance by Brock Lesnar vs Samoa Joe. Main Event was Cena and Rusev. JLA was where John Cena had his PPV debut.

Sissons scored!
Preds got so close, sigh
The last time the ducks looked like contenders. I still feel had Gibson not gotten hurt in the WCF they could have won it all this year.

2 seasons until we’re at the season i started watching hockey
I remember being so excited about the Leafs future after this season, how naive I was 😂
It happened for the Caps the season we gave up on the team.
RALEIGH!!!! PLEASE COME TO OUR GAMES!!!
i cant help but notice you havent done a career video of the don cherry.
make it so number one.
gohabsgo

you have also said that zibanejad is only second line center and rangers need 1st line center so they can win😄
As much as Sidney Crosby turned it on in these playoffs you have to admit Erik Karlsson turned it on just as much or more and he was injured.
Not as upsetting as 2016 but I'm still mad Penguins won twice in a row while other teams like Sens, Sharks and Preds didn't win once

Lučić signed with the Oilers ...
Meh, one error per board since 2017.

The Preds run went to the Final. The Sens were second in their division, and were the less surprising of the two.
