nothing brings me more happiness than unlocking a memory of a song I used to be obsessed w that I haven’t heard in years, this being one. Hearing this just makes me remember the days of listening to this on my iPod touch on the way to school pretending I was in the opening scenes of some funky indie movie and not my boring morning commute 😩

If it weren't for Apple's ad on iPods, I would have never known of this band. It is amazing.
In case anyone wants to know. I worked at the TGI Fridays, and they played this song about eight times a week when I was working. I didn't know who they were, but I looked them up, and now I am enamored. That was about five years ago. I'm still here.

@@AndorRadnai heh, well, my original comment was from 10 years ago and since then it HAS become a requirement. That’s why there are more disintegrations at concerts and bands with sax players aren’t allowed in “battle of the bands” shows. 😜

Dear CountxZero: This band, really a couple Mette & Lars, have done quite well
as corporate jingle makers. Their way with worming into our psyches (I am after
all a fan of their discs and online vids since they don't get much airplay in U.S.) is
what has made them so valuable for selling or creating a stylish association, as with Silicon Valley trans national Apple.
If they did become as big in U.S. as they are around the world (huge in EU and Scandinavia, just look via U. of Tube at the stadium gigs over 2 hours onstage for what looks like tens of thousands of ecstatic fans on vast lawns and outdoor amphitheaters) then I couldn't have had the delightful experience back before I heard of them actually having to inhale and squeeze past them as they were on a touring visit to a tiny neighborhood record shop that was just big enough to host an in-store gig to spread word for a club date they had in PoTown, Ore this musta been about 7 years ago.
The store emptied out after their afternoon in-store freebie show and they had a
tour bus outside so I'm guessing they have an established and knowledgeable fan base even far from their home country of Denmark. They also don't seem to record at all that I can find in their native Danish, all songs in a very well-written and clever English that could be easily adapted to cabaret, stage and narrative films or shows.
That to me tells me they were practical enough as kids and precocious enough with a certain kind of ambition to aim for an international audience, as English is the de facto business and culture default language (although looking at marketing numbers for Latin America and Spain's vast diaspora, Espanol may well pass U.S., UK, Canada, Aussie, New Zealand as the 5 Eyes and Ears of global spying biz refers to our nation states....Not to mention that to linguists, Anglo languages are
a subset of the Germanic languages where English among the other Celtic tongues that originated in the Germanic languages. Don't argue with me, take it up with a linguist!)
One last quick note is that what I recall being most attracted to were not Lars's electro keyboard ear-worm rhythms as I dislike electronic music and keyboards. Even on that store gig and low-profile club tour of West Coast U.S. this band had a couple of horn players and their sound together with the rhythms, bass and Mette's personality behind her exquisite lyrics is what drew me to their early records after
accidentally being turned on by them via an in-store gig and a kick shopping alongside them, they and their band and touring companions from the bus were
clearly enthusiastic musical seekers.
And yet, while their disc albums do list the musicians, the actual band-members
seem limited to Mette, Lars and a 2-person rhythm team. Here, see Wiki:

In dollars and sense that means the horn player so well used for his reaction facial shots in this video and other horn players so crucial to their live sound and that you note in your comment and the horns that are a key element counteracting the stiff electronic keyboards Lars favors and that I don't much care for, that wondrous blend to my taste and ears comes from players who don't get paid as band members but are perhaps contracted for their live gigs and recording sessions.
I hope Lars and Mette enter into a jazz combo or cabaret set-up that seems more equitable. I note from a few clips on U. of Tube that Mette's follow-up project with more of a cabaret act with just such a sound seemed to alienate the larger rock crowd that would come to her gigs seeking the hits from the Asteroid Galaxy Tours. Mette may have started out precocious, but if her ambitions have shifted to more creative arts and less from electro-pop global formula she might want to seek some wisdom from ol' wily blues songwriter with a career of some 50 years
gigging around the world, MOSE ALLISON who wrote this song that Van Morrison
(no stranger to losing many of his audiences as he pursued his creative muses) so
intuitively inhabits, not to mention with key horn solos from Van's horn leader Pee Wee Ellis: "If You Only Knew" from an album named SENSE OF WONDER that is way dreamier than this Mose Allison world-weary chestnut gem done up with horns as infectious R&B!!!!
It's almost a Van Morrison apology for his love of also dreamier and more electronic sounds as those that were dominating the SENSE OF WONDER years.......

@@jorgegalindo1764 Depends where you look. Check out the video clips of some of their big concert tours across EU and Scandinavia. Even here in U.S. where they play mostly clubs and small theaters they are known via the electronics and Cyberian monopolies that have used their recordings to sell sleek and stylish products. See the Apple tunes that are not the best example of their music but will help pay the rent or buy a house in a reasonable country (not the U.S.).
