- After 3 bad years of farming, it was too much for a Georgia farmer to take. He believed by taking his own life the insurance money would save the farm that had been in his family for over 100 years. Taking his life was a hard enough blow to the family, but when the insurance didn't pay, they were at a loss. With the property in foreclosure, Donald Trump stepped in and saved the farm.

Mr. Trump could have easily bought the farm for cash if he wanted to but he offered to negotiate with the bank, stop an auction from occurring and even got others to help work out this good deed too. The man is SINCERELY good. It would be rare to find a billionaire to roll up his sleeves and do some heavy lifting himself to help a poor family in need these days, all while running the affairs of his business empire.

We were in the middle of the worst farm crisis this country had seen since the Great Depression. In many ways it was worse than the Depression.
I live in the neighboring county, and when word of Mr. Hill's suicide got out, everyone was in shock.
Farmers in Burke County and all the neighboring counties were all trying to come to grips with the fact that many of us were in the same boat as Mr. Hill and we honestly didn't know what our future held.
