    Deja vu back to my first lesson in March. 17 hours and including 5 solo so far and hoping to get my cross country flights done next lesson.
    I did notice in this video that it appears neither of you have shoulder harnesses on, would be good to get your thoughts on the reasons.

    • @GolfFoxtrot22
      @GolfFoxtrot22  2 года назад

      Hello Martin, I hadn't forgotten about your comment and needed to research the bigger picture on your question about shoulder straps. In short if the passenger is in the rear seat they are to wear the full harness. There was a significant accident back in 2001, following the AAIB investigation the CAA pushed out a mandatory fitment of shoulder straps to the aircraft and now is an aircraft permit check that they are fitted. Regarding instruction from the rear seat, if the shoulder straps are used, the PIC or instructor is physically unable to have full control of the aircraft, which makes it unsafe. Each aircraft PoH will have specifics on whether it is a "should" or "must" be used for flight. I hope that helps answer your question and again, sorry for the delay in getting back to you.

    What handles turbulence better flexwing or 3 axis fixed wing?

    • @GolfFoxtrot22
      @GolfFoxtrot22  2 года назад

      I'd say they handle turbulence just as well. I've flown all kinds over the last 30 years and I'd say it's down to the pilots bump tolerance that wins in most instances. In the Flexwing the wing moves around a lot but the trike doesn't. In the 3 axis, if the wing moves, you are definitely moving with it.

    • @dkdanis1340
      @dkdanis1340 2 года назад +1

      @@GolfFoxtrot22 yeah i noticed that opinions on turbulence are very different from pilot to pilot in ultralight aviation. Some say " it's very harsh" and some say "it's perfectly fine" but they all agree that gyrocopter handles turbulence the best. How does peabee handle turbulence?

    • @GolfFoxtrot22
      @GolfFoxtrot22  2 года назад

      @DK Danis I've never flown a Gyrocopter. In the 90s they had the highest fatality rate in Germany, so as a kid that kind of put me off. I'm not sure why they are so expensive. The ones I see in the UK are around £100k new... 🤷‍♂️. Are you a Gyro pilot?

    • @dkdanis1340
      @dkdanis1340 2 года назад +1

      @@GolfFoxtrot22 No I'm not any kind of pilot i'm just curious about aviation. Gyrocopters are safe now. Things that made them dangerous are fixed now. Problem was older ones had high thrust line that could cause bunt over when pilot makes negative g. Newer ones have center thrust line plus stabilizer and they can't buntover.
