I like the bit that Topher says about how early successes can make failure even harder as you get older.

I wonder how to keep living when you’ve had no successes in Life. I wonder how to keep living when you’re handed Failure after Failure. I guess keep Failing. Maybe the success is not taking the easy way out…

So the "multi million views (LinkedIn)" comes from 2 videos which are obviously bought views (and put on the front page). As are the subs bought. Most of the videos has about 200 views and no comments. 142K REAL subs does not work that way. Nice going Mr. Entertainment Mogul :) Though I don't understand why there aren't more views as the videos are mostly great.

Hanner, not sure what you're referencing from LinkedIN--or your motivation here-- but I'm glad you took the time to leave a comment because it gives me a chance to weigh in (again) on this topic of "What we should be measuring..." First thing is, if you're measuring me or the worth of my videos by the number of subs, views or any of the other vanity metrics, you're doing it wrong. Value is not based on what "others" think, it's about what YOU think. Consider the work of most of the early master artists...most lived in obscurity without fame and fortune until after their death. Only when their work was recognized as a masterpiece by future generations did it become mainstream and worth more. I'm not a master yet but I'm also not making average videos for average people. These vids are for a certain group of people and they might not be your cup of tea. That said, metrics are good for some things but not for others. The value of a particular video, or in this case, RUclips channel is not one of them. I'm measuring "value" by several other things including impact. In other words, does it serve my audience and what they need. The short answer based on the feedback is yes. I've been making videos on this channel since 2008. In that time, I've had 1 video go "viral" and perform over a 1M+ views (Candice Neistat interview) and a second one (Best Advice from Seth Godin) in the last 12 months on track to do the same. It's been a slow burn for many years...Read a few of the thousand+ comments on this more popular vids and you'll know I don't need to buy views or subs. People are very engaged and passionate. These videos are making an impact with the right people--not ALL people. It's true that the other videos range between a few hundred (so far) like the recently posted Topher Grace vid...to hundreds of thousands (Simon Sinek, Mel Robbins, Kevin O'leary etc.). The other thing I've observed is that RUclips throttles views because of their new "Bell notification" system whereby only a small % of my 142k subs get "notified" when I release videos. This may explain why certain videos "take off" in views months after posting because they get put in the "Recommended Video" algorithm flow...but then again, sometimes they remain mostly undiscovered because of the sheer volume of content being uploaded to RUclips daily. In any case, I don't care what the individual view count is, I care about the aggregate. Is my channel making the impact I wish to make? Yes. So I'm happy. Hope that helps. Thanks again for watching!
