- One of my favorite childhood beast wars action figures from the 90's! When I was a kid I saw Beast Fuzors commercial on TV with VHS. Brings me back memories.

@@marcusblackwell6268 the movies made it more popular and a billion dollar franchise. After G1 in the 80s, it fell off, they tried to revive it with g2 in the early 90s, that failed, then Beast Wars came out and the show and toys were a huge success, then came the unicron trilogy and things were just "ok". The movies then came and made TF huge worldwide. It was a 2nd renaissance. Beast Wars was the 1st.
I completely forgot what commercials were like back then. They were crazy in all the right ways.

I love how they make Waspinator so badass, but in the show he was just a running gag of failure 🤣
My guess is the commercials were done before the show finalized the characters' personalities.
@@jeremyriley1238 I guess so. In a lot of these ads too, they showed Predacons based on winged insects, and they couldn't put those in the show because Waspinator was a winged insect in the show already.
@@jeremyriley1238 it's pretty much that, if you check the original box synopsis for Beast Wars, the Maximals and Predacons werent not the descendants of the Autobots and Decepticons, they were basically them, Bat Optimus Primal and Crocodile Megatron were originally G1 Optimus Prime and Megatron before they made them into the individual characters we know and love
Yeah I mean we never had that with G1. At least G1 took itself seriously to a point instead of having some little toddler crap like waspinatiar

I think the show made Dinobot a Predacon that changed sides to explain why he was the only Maximal to change into a dinosaur. While all the other dinosaurs and reptiles were Predacons.

@@tannerparriette4245 I was saying to another user, that may have been the commercial you were referring to, that the Transmetal 2 version of Dinobot was a Predacon this time around, after being a Maximal for so long.

Hearing that first commercial describe Waspinator as "evil" cracks me up, considering how he was portrayed in the TV show. Evil in his own mind, and I'm not even sure that's entirely true.
I mean, he is evil… smart or competent, thats other thing XD
The toys came out before the show. It’s possible he was intended to be a more serious villain than the Waspinator that we know and love.

Hell yeah, Beast Wars was my childhood. I would jump up and down with excitement every time I saw a Beast Wars toy commercial.
The Beast Wars toyline was really ahead of its time.
Beast Wars is what really got me into Transformers. I watched reruns of G1 and had a few if the toys but it never clicked with me the way Beast Wars did.
True, dispite being born in the 2000's? while not having the toys, G1 also never clicked with me the way Beast Wars along with my other favorites such as the Unicron Trilogy,RID 2001,Animated, and Prime lol.
Fun fact: Transmetal 2 cyber shark eventually became the coolest shark in town Sky-bite.

For 90s kids beast wars was our introduction to the transformers franchise. I remember as a I had Transmetal Optimus, Silverbolt, and a Tigerhawk.
All the beast wars character are awesome.my favorite toy is optimus prime and Megatron.i like they have a mutant mask or battle mask.i miss fox kids and the 90s so much.
That bizarre time when Optimus Primal was a Bat, Megatron was a crocodile, and Cybershark was a good guy.
Not only Optimus Primal and Megatron were a Bat and a Crocodile, but originally, They were actually supposed to be G1 Optimus Prime and Megatron as Beasts until they made the cartoon and made the Maximals and Predacons descendants of the Autobots and Decepticons

@@jamespressman1202 The first toy-line commercials, before the tv series was green-lit. Before Scorponok and Rhinox were added to the roster (and toyline), there was the Predacon Iguanus (Iguana) and the Maximal Razorbeast (Warthog). It wasn't until later while the tv series was already in production that Hasbro released the Gorilla Optimus Primal and T-Rex Megatron that their new models were added into the series (which is why Optimus was the only Maximal before Airrazor that could fly since it was carried over from when his alternate form was a Bat, and why Megatron was brushing his T-Rex's head's teeth with a toothbrush since it was carried over from when he was a Crocodile).
I wish some of these toys made it to the show.

Man I wish I kept my beast wars toys 😢I remember loving my Optimus primal and white Tiger but sadly I have a really horrible experience where a substitute kindergarten teacher took away my Rhinox then lies to my parents that she didn’t take it and I never got it back. I don’t know what she did with it but that woman is a horrible evil person for stealing a toy from a child smh

the tv toy commercials is awesome back in the 90s. i like the toys is in the cartoon. my favorite Beast Wars toy is all of them.
I always wanted Dinobot. Whiffed my chance to get it. Luckily, the Kingdom line gave me something of a second chance… but I miss the motorized blade, though.

This certainly brings back nice memories from both the toyline and the cartoon, although it also reminds me how I always found it a bit baffling how several characters featured in the toy commercials never made it to the show.
Nowadays I understand the CGI animation was very expensive and there was a hard limit to how many recurrent characters they could have, but the selections they made still puzzle me at times. For example, based on the commercial that introduced the Fuzors toyline, I would have expected Silverbolt and Aquasting to be the characters featured in the cartoon, but while we did got Silverbolt, the Fuzor Predacon in the cartoon was Quickstrike.
Beast Wars was the shit in the 90s
Can't believe I had all of these and gave them away when I was a stupid young teen. I have an entirely different collection now of 3rd party transformers but there isn't a drop of sentiment or nostalgia attached to them. My favorites were Beast Wars Snarl, Transmetal 2 Dinobot & Ramulus, Quickstrike, Transmetal 3 Megatron and of course Tigerhawk although he really needs a 3rd party update.

Loved the weapons as part of the whole package. I lost so many transformers weapons because they got separated - never lost a Beast Wars toy weapon.

The Transmetal Megatron needs some repair in the left shoulder and right arm. I have to make parts for him.
I have Optimal Optimus on a bedroom shelf on guard duty 23 years later.
I used to have the Transmetal Waspinator and Turantulas and Transmetal 2 Cheetor and Optimal Optimus Primal. Those were the days.
So I was wondering who that bat and crocodile were at the start of the early commercials and looked it up. That's Optimus Prime and Megatron... Of course. Who else would they be?
Joking aside, who else would you open the commercial of your new major toyline be, but seems weird today. I don't know why, but I'm not surprised that they would change their alt-modes. Now, with research, I found that the original storyline were that these were the classic characters, continuing their battles in new animal forms on modern day Earth, even had a comic miniseries to launch the toys. Habro abandoned this context and reconned them all into new characters when Mainframe created the admittedly more interesting concept of the Maximals and Predacons would be their descendants.
Crocodile Megatron is actually really cool and fitting, I wouldn't have said no to him remaining in that alt, but my question is, why a bat? Seems weird choice for Optimus, don't it? Well, it turns out the original figures were being designed by Kenner toys, who were at the time doing the merchandise for Batman media, specifically the movies and Animated Series. Prime was basically being recycled from the models of their Batman action figures.
.... So yeah. Que the "the more you know" shooting star... thing. :)

I grew up watching Beast Wars on Fox Kids, back in 1999-2000. I'm looking forward to collecting the reissued Beast Wars action figures. I'd love to have Optimus Primal and Megatron in my collection! ^_^
They are in the orginal packaging I bought an old one I think I have.
Then look for Transformers Kingdom Optimus Primal, they were re-released last year or 2021.

The thing I remember from the cartoon was Transmetal Megatron aka Rollerblading T-Rex
I never realized that the Maximals were all mammals and birds, while the Predacons were reptilians and crawlies.
That two pack was my first transformer! Oh the nostalgia!

I remember I bought the Optimus and Megatron 2-pack and I was so confused when the show debuted and they were a gorilla and a T-Rex.
I prefer the show versions, but I thought thr bat and alligator were just silly, good fun.
The Transmetal 2 Cybershark eventually became Sky-Byte from Robots in Disguise anime.
I hope those transformers gimmicks came back one day..

omg my childhood. I remember I missed out on the first gen, but I think I started collecting around Magnaboss because I absolutely remember having that figure and the Silverbolt. I think I got just about every Transmetal figures as well. I used to run to the store every week with my allowance and check for new ones back in 6th grade. Those were the days. I wish I knew what happened to all those toys. I think my mom sold em at a garage sale at some point

That Optimal Optimus name didn't stick in the show which is great. There's no way Megatron and Tigerhawk are Transmetal 2 since they never used the Transmetal 2 driver . Tigerhawk is a Transmetal Fuzor💯🤓

Beast Wars was Transformers series I grew up with. Sadly, the toys fell apart easily because of loose joints. Luckily, they fixed the problem with the recent rereleases.

Well Transformers with beast forms and organic forms weren’t new. You have in g1 where the Dinobots and Insecticons turned into mechanical animals rather than organic and the pretenders who had organic shells. Beast Wars was basically mechanical beings turning into actual organic animals.
I didn't even like Transformers. Until Beast Wars came!

I remember owning Optimal Primal. I can't recall if it was a birthday present or Christmas gift. I can't believe I use to own these toys as a gift. I was really into the beast wars and beast machines although I saw 90% of the episodes for each seasons. Good times. 😅🐵🍌

I didn't know there was mosquito and a baboon in Beast Wars before. The mosquito one actually has a really good looking third mode too. Also didn't know that Skybite was just Cybershark transmetal reused.
There were actually many reused molds in Robots in Disguise (2001) besides Skybyte, Scourge was a recolor of the Laser Optimus Prime Figure, Fortress Maximus had a Toy in Japan, which was basically a retool/Redeco of the G1 Maximus
