- 1970 Harley Sportster XLCH. Hasn't seen the road in 21 years. The gas in it is seven years old.

Yeah they all puke like that after sitting, whenever I start my dads evo 2 after a while it pukes out of the intake breather. Just like your dad said it's just the oiling system, the reservoir is sat higher than the sump so after a while it trickles down into the sump and the engine has no idea what to do with all that at once. You'd think the engineers would've figured it out in 30 years but no, well they might've but they replaced all their engineers with marketing people after Reagan bailed the company out :( the bikes went to shit but we have nice jackets eh?
Yeah, I don't understand why there have not been greater engineering advances on the Harley engines? It would make more sense - and be really cool - if they were purposely making a retro bike and the engine AND styling were retro. Instead, it seems they are throwing a retro engine in a modern bike - which seems bonkers to me. But I have not gotten into Harleys, so I might not really get it...
@@HooptieDoodle We live in the age of shareholders and lawyers, if they’re seeing happy faces in suits every quarter theres nothing to fix right? Even when the new Milwaukee 8 engines with shitty castings are pissing oil on showroom floors, NOPE we’re sellin leather like hotcakes, keep pumpin! People think all I do is make fun but I always say Harley is a fantastic tshirt company, mediocre bikes but I’ll be damned if you find a more reliable tshirt, I still got some of my dads harley shirts from the late 80s still goin strong 2000 washes later. Gotta give credit where it’s due🤣
If you want an electric bike buy an electric bike, even though it probably wouldn't fire up and run after sitting idle for a few years.
