The hardest part of that job was answering the phone every morning and speaking to Mothers that sounded as though they had been up all night in tears waiting to call us. This man was someone I really admired as a kid. I followed his lead, and Kurt, Mark L., a lot of rock stars from Seattle did heroin. When I went to my first methadone clinic in Seattle, there was a Layne Staley memorial calendar in a trophy case, it was the only thing on the wall. I knew I was in the right place at least. I was there for years and I heard stories from people that knew him before and after the fame. I met a lot of casualties from the grunge era. It was interesting. Layne was a big old sweetheart that felt feelings too much was the general consensus. I think a lot of us do drugs for that reason alone. Sure the high is nice, but that doesn't last very long. People think you're just trying to get high. But you're really just trying not to be sick or crazy. Honestly. The drugs become like insulin. Or oxygen. Food. It's disgusting and I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. Just say no. Your body will never be the same. Your serotonin and dopamine are just screwed. You're not a rebel. A rebel has a sharp mind.

I'm sad for him. I've been a recluse myself because I suffer from bipolar depression and social anxiety. I steered clear of hard core drugs, but got a medical weed card and just hid and smoked all the time. It did make me feel better though. I wish they could make anti depressant pills out of it or something. It was smoking I was addicted, to. Like when I smoked cigarettes. It is a habit and chasing the high always. God bless him. He's loved by me, at least. Sending love out to him. Hope he feels it. He was so talented.

I don't think he took his own life. If you research the way that many of these celebrities die with certain items around their necks, found with their bodies posed in certain positions, it is highly suspicious. The occult connections between bodies posed in certain ways, with certain colored cloths around their necks, strangled, are many and worth looking into. Often, there is a backstory where the victim was in the midst of revealing certain things about the industry or people in it, and the nefarious activity and ritual that these groups perpetrate and propogate.

But it's irresistible if you're, like myself, afraid of not having control of your emotions because a junkie ALWAYS knows how he's going to feel, even if it's like shit. R.I.P. Layne Staley. It’s got nothing to do with not “loving one’s self enough” it’s got EVERYTHING to do with feeling so helpless and shameful and out of control that you feel like you can’t stop, constantly running from the physical sickness and emotional pain that comes with sobering up and getting clean. You get so mad and frustrated at yourself that you can’t just stop. I know I was a prescription opioid/benzo/heroin addict for 7 years. Just happy that I’m finally 4 years sober…

There's a good bit of debate on how much ( if any ) truth there is to Layne Staley's "last interview" in the "Angry Chair" book. From reading several interviews from those close to Layne have stated that they have a lot of doubt and most of them have said why would Layne grant this woman that he doesn't know such a tell all interview when he had been so withdrawn the past year. I remember back when it was first released it started getting a lot of slack and folks wondering if the story was more less just maid up. If I remember right I don't think it was even released in English to begin with then had a rather shitty translation version released sometime later.

Having a couple of friends and someone immediate to me pass from struggling with dope around that tine was why i couldnt keep the dirt album around anymore. It was a superb album musically but the lyrics here and there always reminded me of the drug garbage in the singer’s life as well as those i knew. What an effing waste man!

Mike Star’s story is all BS. He says “I was there trying to keep him alive but if I knew he was going to die, I would have called 911.” So what was your job, Mike? The door was locked so Layne locked the door after he left at some point. There was money and drugs in Staley’s condo, so he didn’t rip him off of that. People were coming up to his condo because he had puncture marks on his back that you couldn’t reach on your own. He was so far gone. What a sad tale of one of the best frontman of all time, one of the best singers of all time. People stole from him, took his stuff, his drugs, whatever they could get their hands on. He lived a wild ride. I listen to him every day for therapy. Layne is my therapist.

There's so much I want to reply to this but it's so much . .
If I can make it short . . First off it breaks my heart to see losses like this and all the other artists lost . . My party years due to my Huckleberry Finn childhood to my Eminem adolescents it was Pearl Jam Ten, Nirvana Nevermind, Soundgarden Superunknown, AIC Dirt and a variety of substances. I had a close one with drugs so couldn't go with my mom and her bf when my loser father made her move out when he just left shortly after n I was abandoned at 17 and the power went out.
Met a girl, lived together in different places for about four years then she cheated, I had to leave then I died in 1996 (bike wreck) only to be brought back after a six day coma taking about three years to relearn everything . . Becoming a non ready father getting hit for over 500 a month for support . .
I had tickets for Korn opening for Ozzy in Hartford back in 1994 and it fell out of my pocket at the phone booth during a stop which I didn't realize until I got to the frikken gate to get it . . I went back to the car and after the show my friend Matt said they were going to let me in or something but they wouldn't let him go back to the car . . That was rough but when I wrecked the bike (cuz high speed shimmies at about 100 mph put me into a telephone pole) cuz I was on my way to Matt's house that night . . Well after I didn't remember anything but went to his house not even knowing it was his place (it was like a reset button on my brain and I was trying to put things together) and he seemed to be doing better, new job, truck,gf, still with the fire company . . Well months later he unfortunately took his life . . I didn't know how to react but I made it to Ozzfest 00 n she'd some tears and wished him peace . .
Then in 19 I finally got to see Korn with AIC opening and it was so emotional, I would have given anything to have Layne and my friend Matt be there I cried many times (as soon as Nutshell starts playing in tear up almost every time) then Jonathan comes out with the bagpipes . .
I made peace with many moments that night but there's so much more considering this was the short version.
Eminem was born October 17th, I was October 16th (he has 3 years on me but my son was born October 17th n Em was in a coma too . .
Now I'm not saying I have had the worst in the world but it's been pretty close (you would see if I could have told it all) but I would like to find someone who could help me fund a documentary of my life cuz it's def worthy and you will see when I get to tell it n show pics . . Especially after I tell about my did coming out gay and how he abused me in my sleep when I was 11 . . Then after the coma I had to regain those memories too and after I got my 16 gauge shotgun back that he stoke from me I didn't talk to him ever again . . Although my brother did . . Then 26 years later after he ruined the family, the house, the marriage . . Everything I find out he lost his house, his jaguar he bought after his retirement that he always wanted didn't run . . He moved into an apartment n then . .
Well on the way to see Breaking Benjamin with my son and his friend, his friend was talking about how his dad was being a jerk n I reply "you're lucky you didn't have my dad, if he died tomorrow I wouldn't even go to this services).
Then the next day I get a call from a sergeant and he tells me my loser father was found dead in his apartment . .
Apparently it was a hoarding mess like disgusting and where he died on his bed was a lighter ,screen n a crack flute . . With like 30 more flures on the floor next to the bed . .
Now after paying over 100k in support I was wrongfully fired from my job and they put me in jail and label me a negligent parent, then I got out and I'm struggling with arrears and my insurance cancels me because of the restriction on my license . . You really can't imagine how much more there is to this . .
I could really use some financial support but don't know how to go about it and would give almost anything to make my documentary because I know so many other fathers are being cheated too and I want to do something about it . .
Any help is greatly appreciated, a donation or suggestion is greatly welcome.
I need to look up how to start a go fund me but it seems the rest of lie keeps getting in the way if you know what I mean . .
Thanks for those who read this through and I pray for peace and justice for all those taken in there prime or too early . . Cliff Burton, Chester Bennington, Randy Rhoads, Buddy Holly, The Big Bopper, Ritchie Vallens (The day the music died)
It all just breaks my heart . . But thanks for your time . .

Don't give up on the documentary, maybe your start could be introduced on another documentary and then yours fully on another one. I have no idea on how to get it done. Maybe a screenwriter looking for a new script can help.

The truth about layne that no one talks about is he committed suicide. He planned it, he chose to do it on a day he knew no one would pay him any attention, he knew everyone would be mourning Kurt’s anniversary of his death,. His personal assistant was leaving town for the weekend, she came by to drop off laynes groceries, smokes, whatever, he had locked the deadbolt so she couldn’t get in. She pounded on the door and he wouldn’t answer. She got mad and left his shit outside the door,. She left then called his mother and told her he would not answer the door. Layne was found laid out on his made bed, with pillows and gifts from fans and friends he did a huge shot and fell asleep for the last time. They all knew he committed suicide, so I’m not sure why they told everyone he o.d on accident, and he was not left there for 2 weeks. This story tells it like he had no friends, and he never left the condo. That’s not true either, we would see him getting smokes at a gas station walking distance. He used a Cain and was frail. Another sad soul gone, he was the best voice of that time, so much pain. RIPLayne

Its odd to me that the focus is always on the heroin use. Cocaine perhaps plays an even bigger role imo. Without alcohol and cocaine I dont think nearly as many people would use heroin. Layne was addicted to cocaine and heroin. Ive been addicted to this shit for 20 years, I know what its about.

She said in an interview she always thought he would take care of his problem and never got involved. He was dead for two weeks before she even went to check on him!!!!!! The accountant had to call her and say there was no activity on his account for the last two weeks.

Even if that interview was proven to be fake...... the death of this one of a kind beautiful creature this was put here in human form and blessed in abundance was proven to be REAL AS A DEAD BEAUTIFUL CREATURE can be pronounced ....let his thoughts on paper and in songs that he sang help us who struggle with that same FUK N demon he wrestled with on the daily from daylight to dark and from dark to daylight.. find peace and know he's finally found some rest..when someone knows what they've done and where their headed because of what they kept closer to them than air... you can't stop the reaper for anyone...if you don't see them running from the reaper..it's because they were expecting him,... probably sooner than that day he finally showed up and explained its time.
You was one of a kind for a reason.. cause the world barley handle one of you... you'll always be that

The substances they found in Chris Toxicology report don’t sit right with me…not in the sense of this is a person abusing substances but Naloxone or Suboxone coupled with something for anxiety or depression is standard prescribing treatment for a recovering opioid addict. So it sounds like what they found were typical things you’d find in most peoples systems that are in recovery…something to aid and ease opioid addiction and something for depression/anxiety and then allergy meds and caffeine are pretty normal things for anyone to have in their system. I just don’t buy for a second that this was a suicide or that it relates to serious drug use
