A little bit of Amy Macdonald, a little bit of Jefferson's Airplane and a lot of badassery and talent and a blue blue heart. You killed it, Larkin Poe. You always do.
Well, I wasn't convinced that they could do a version to match The Convent Club performance, which in comparison is a very stripped back sound. Sort of a fearful plea. But the orchestration on this performance really does add something, especially the strings. It's warmer and more of a defiant stand. I'm a bit torn. Either way, a brilliantly written song that means a lot to a lot of people.
Tom Brady's favorite Super Bowl ring is "the next one". My favorite version of this song is "whichever one I am currently listening to", they are all great. Being over 60 I find this song both beautiful and terrifying.
I can never get enough of this song. Ironically I'm actually dealing with this with my parents right now and it's taken on even more meaning than ever before. This song is actually more brilliant than most can possibly imagine...
I miss the mandolin of the earlier versions but damn this is still so, so good. Definitely a great version and I love that you've finally released a version to buy.
Stunning how this song has evolved ladies! A favorite of mine - and it always will be.👌 Nothing over shadows here, only adds layers of feeling thru sound! Excellent performance everyone!👏👏👏 🖤🌹🖤
This is such a beautifully moving song. Achingly sad but this song really captures the hope that our loved ones will never suffer the loss of person that comes with dementia of any kind.
Such a mesmerizing performance of a poignant and beloved Larkin Poe classic. As this is so close to the Lovells hearts, there is such care and gravitas in this arrangement, only heightening the fervour in what is already such an emotionally impactful song. Simply stunning and beautiful. 💞
Wonderfully moving performance. As a friend of mine responded when I sent him this, "It's too late in the day to be sitting in this office balling my eyes out". Eagerly await my copy.
I stumbled upon the recording of this song from 2015 several years back, and it's what drew me into the band to begin with! So thrilled they're finally releasing it on a proper record!
@@brianchilds9331 almost exactly 2 years from the date i was originally going to see them live for the first time. Here's to thinking lucky thoughts for 22. I just need to remember where i put the tickets now. 🤔
Really good! Larkin Poe, you just keep getting better and better. This has always been a strong song with meaningful lyrics but the vocals keep getting stronger and Megan's slide matures with every outing. Love the live Ensemble, lifting and moving the arraignment. 10.
This is quintessential Larkin Poe. It brings tears to my eyes and a smile to my lips, a melancholy dichotomy of joy and sorrow. This song was my first exposure to your work. I've been watching you ladies ever since, and I'll never stop now. Thank you for sharing your gift, your joy, and your sorrow.
This song is one of the most beautiful ever created and performed....thank you for making it! 🖤🙌🏻 This song is helping me right now so much in the fresh death of my mentally ill father. I wish I would’ve found it sooner because I know I will have it on repeat every week.
If this don't give you goosebumps nothing will, splendid rendition of one of their many great original songs.I love how the Maestro & orchestra get into it clapping, smiling & marvelling at the genius of Rebecca & Megan, Rebecca's noice cannon voice on this is unbelievably Other Worldly Brilliant 👏
I love the little detail of turning slightly away from the mic so that your volume doesn't overpower. My favorite version of this song is the Grocery on Home live performance for playing the violin like a guitar (such a unique sound!), but this is epic with the orchestra. 🙂
Born in 50, I heard and even sang a lot of nice songs. I confess, "Mad as a hatter" touches the heart, your song spins in my head. Until now, it is the most precious one I have heard. Megan, Rebecca, you are both simply magical, beautiful."Paint the Roses" is a masterpiece, a jewel. Big thanks from Strasbourg (France)
This 70 yo man who started listening to Memphis soul radio & the Rolling Stones in '63 loves your music. Hang in there girls you're doing good music, I just hope you're making some money...
As mentioned in another comment the Covent Club performance was immense. This has a whole different dynamic and yet still conveys exactly what was intended! Another stunning performance of a great song
This is so great! it gave me the chills, I can just imagine how much chills I would get listening to you live. But this song is more than that, the subject this song is about is very important. You are doing it great! Thank you!
What a beautiful and moving song. Sounds really 'big' with the Nu Deco Ensemble. What a talented group of musicians. All LP's songs are so damn catchy - they deserve to be 10 times as successful!
This is the song that started me on the Larkin Poe journey Much larger theater 🎭 Different singer 🎤 But, yeah ✅ Audio tree has a great early in-studio concert of these ladies
Holy crap. A golden oldie reimagined and stronger than ever. I love all versions so far, but this one feels like a theme song for a film, especially the "off with the heads" part with that melodic drumpart underneath. I love how your voices have grown, and the text still hits home hard and brings me to tears. Thank you for releasing this. Thank you a lot.
Absolutely magnificent. We feel all the passion in this orchestra. Rebecca and Megan are really great artists. Rebecca is an outstanding singer and her older sister has a great sensitivity in playing her instrument. These two women represent everything I love about music. I really love them a lot. From France.
I discovered my grandfather was suffering from dementia when I found him reading Sports Illustrated, he said he was fine, doing great but was holding the magazine upside-down. He was trying really hard to hang on.. He passed a few years later. Your beautiful song brought back some sad memories. I really loved both versions.
Larkin Poe! I have been following these two dynamic sisters since I first saw their performances on the Joe Bonamassa Blue Cruise II. They are wonderful and unique artists. 😎
How a song can touch you personally, because the best performance, the best lyrics, the sincerity, many other things, I don't know, in any case I love what you are.
Got to see them play this on Cape Cod Labor Day Weekend 2022… in front of maybe 200… 1st time I had heard this song and after the show I found the version from 7 yrs. ago… wow!! Great song and I wish them the world!!
They’re awesome live too! I hope they record a bunch of concerts live and at least put out a live album with all live songs if not the complete concert!
Their masterpiece. Rebecca’s voice! And those wonderfully simpatico sibling harmonies.
I agree 💯
Yes, there's something magical when siblings harmonise.
She has a great voice👍
A little bit of Amy Macdonald, a little bit of Jefferson's Airplane and a lot of badassery and talent and a blue blue heart. You killed it, Larkin Poe. You always do.
You mean Rebecca = Grace Slick? Um, not exactly, but...
@@georgrittel4243 What I mean is that this song always reminds me a little of White Rabbit
@@fivetimesyo Them Carrollian references.
@@georgrittel4243 Grace isn’t the only sound of JA, her voice was epic yes, but the whole band made the sound
I hope to see them live one day
Rebecca, many people play instruments or sing....your entire body and Soul IS an instrument. Thank you for following your destiny.
Holy crap Rebecca! That vocal is perfect. Confident, strong, and soulful.
yea for real, chokes meup everytime i listen to it...
Agree 100%
Amanzing!♥️♥️♥️
This is a fucking MASTERPIECE.
I think Rebecca’s voice can do every genre!

Never saw Rebecca singing nearly a whole song with closed eyes. Obviously the lyrics are extremely close to her heart.
It's a song about their grandfather. They told the background story here

I pre-ordered the vinyl without having an idea what it is - I don't regret it!! This is so beautiful!
I am impressed by the elegance and strength (at the same time) that this performance transmits. Stunning!

This song is how I fell in love with these badass sisters. Wow girls you have arrived, and what an entrance. You look and sound so beautiful!
Tony Stark as conductor. Joking aside, your voice is the stand out instrument on that accomplished stage.
Looks more like Andy Serkis tbh.

Such a great version of a great song.
WoW...what was that.... AWESOME...JUST AWESOME...
Astonishing. I thought that much orchestration would ruin this brilliant song but its enhanced it.
