Great video, extremely helpful as this is a tool I use quite a lot. I use the red overlay all the time as I find the others hard to use, although even it can still baffle me from time to time, but practice makes perfect! Thanks George 😊

George! Peter in Pensacola here. Another quality video, thanks. I suggest you make a few videos that use a laptop glide-pad, instead of a gaming mouse which is superior for sure. The reason being, many PSE users are amateur and use a laptop with a glide-pad, and it behaves differently for critical tools like the polygonal lasso. I cannot get more than 3 points before it closes the shape! If I'm having this problem, others may be. Thanks.

Hi Peter, I would but I hate touch-pads. I think they are the worst of the available input options. It is much better to get a cheap usb mouse and mousepad. That is what I have with my laptop, a nice small size cordless mouse, Its about 2/3 the size of a normal mouse and fits easily into my laptop bag. If I am in a situation where I can't use the mouse, I save those jobs for later for when I can use the mouse. I never touch the touch-pad. In case you are curious my 2nd least favorite device is a trackball. The best device is a stylus and tablet and that is my preferred input but I use a mouse for all of my RUclips videos because that is second best and most people have one.

@@HTGPhoto George, as a retired engineering manager I'm pretty familiar with all the usual controllers and agree with you. But, I think that many PSE users do not have a workstation but instead edit on a laptop, using the glide-pad. You may be overlooking a chunk of your audience by not addressing the DEFICITS of PSE with glide-pads. Just a thought. Thanks for responding. Peter

@@peterinpensacola Thanks Peter and I understand your intent, unfortunately my video would be very short. Basically "stop using the touchpad and start using a mouse". I have actually mentioned this in comments a few times over the years. In my opinion touchpads are only good for basic stuff like navigating web pages and maybe some text editing. I find them to be completely unsuited for use with photo editing applications, which is why they are never mentioned on my channel. I like to talk about what works, not what doesn't work. The deficit isn't with PSE, it is with touchpads. The same problems exist with any photo edting app. I got my first laptop with a touchpad back in the early 80's when I was doing budgeting for Hollywood movies (an earlier career of mine). One of the first things I did was to get a mouse for the laptop. That is still the best option for photo editing on a laptop.
