My wife and I have been playing Canasta for the past few years with her parents. It's a great game. We have always loved playing games as a family. As a teacher, I was surprised at how many kids didn't play games with their families. It think that's a shame.

I grew up in S.Calif, but lived in Michigan for about 3 years near some of my cousins. I never seen electric storms, or snow for that matter until I lived in Michigan. I always knew it had snowed before I looked out the window because I could hear the snowmobiles coming. I also missed the Ice storms, but I didn't drive then. I also miss plying my all time favorite card game Euchre, we stayed up until 2aa.

My wife redecorated my daughter's room when she graduated from college and moved out. She decorated in a daisy theme and one of the things she put up was a wall hanging that is a daisy made out of black, metal rod. The centers of the daisies is about an inch wide and has gaudy fake plastic diamonds filling them. Nothing else in the room matches those diamond centers. They look awful to me. My immediate thought was to make cabs to replace them with. My wife says they have to be yellow, like a daisy. I know I could pretty easily find yellow rocks from somewhere else, but I would really like to use rocks that I found in Michigan for this project. That might not be possible and I might decide to get something else at some point. I appreciate your offer.

Silly question from someone over near Gaylord... Does Yooperlite polish well? If so, where would one locate yooperlite jewelry? My grandmother started a tradition when I was a teen of giving her granddaughters jewelry made of Michigan stones. My girls, granddaughters and even younger cousins all have Petoskey Stone and Isle Royal Greenstone jewelry but I'd LIKE to add Yooperlite jewelry to their collections.

    • @MichiganRocks

Yes, Yooperlites polish nicely. The problem with using them for jewelry is that they’re just gray rocks unless they’re under U.V. light. There’s no good way to light up a pendant. Here are some videos about them:
