I have this on vinyl but it is probably scratched. Haven’t played it in years. But I like Roseman’s playing better than everyone else’s. He takes “sehr langsam” seriously in the second movement, maybe too seriously, but it does mean “very slow”. And his tempo is, I think, the right one, for what Hindemith was aiming for, which is a bit more majestic than how people play it nowadays. Think of his Symphony Mathis der Maler. This is grand, celestial, serene, sad. People seem to be afraid to go there now.

I think it must just be a lively tempo. It sounds in tune with A=440, as far as I can tell.
