I felt like I should practice my Fox1 tactics a little bit as I was getting a little too comfortable with the Fox3 missiles. So I threw together a quick BVR fight and Takyon and I dueled it out with Fox1's. This video is one of those fights. I decided to upload it because I feel like there is something to be learned here in terms of the tactics. As always I am no way claiming to be expert and am simply sharing what I had learned in my time in DCS.
if you have something to add to the tactics I'd be happy to hear them so comment away. thanks for watching and I hope you enjoy the Video.
Almost at 14k subs thanks for all ur support on the channel guys, its much appreciated.
Hi. Im a Romanian Air Force pilot in the making and i ve just found you channel today. I wanted to tell you that you are very good and i would like to present some of your videos at our Academy if you dont mind(Credits included, of course). By the way, do you happen to have an F-16 mod?with f-16 cockpit and stuff? Our air force operates them and it would be very interesting to learn something about it before the real thing. Keep doing the good work and PLEASEEEEE help me with that F-16;))
@@luciansimionescu365 haha i'm flattered man, if you think these videos will be helpful be my guest. Thanks for ur support. as for the f16, we dont have one in DCS yet, its planned for the future tho, but if you're interested in that, I recommend Falcon 4 . it basically specializes in the F16 simulation.
@@GrowlingSidewinder They will surely be. And thank you for that. Also, here`s my email address: lucian.simi@yahoo.com. If you would be kind enough to send me yours at that address to keep in contact, that would be wonderful, in order to have some aviation discussions. If you are too busy, see you in the comms section;))
@@luciansimionescu365 hey man, my email is GrowlingSidewinder@hotmail.com I'd love to hear from you buddy. thanks for reaching out.
great videos ¡ , could you make a batle with the su 30 vs f 15 , greetings :).
The ending is impressive to say the least. Good thing proximity fuses were duds
Perhaps the proxy fuses did not fire because the plane that fox-1'd them was dead? A weird bug, right?
@@basicforge DCS doesnt have Proximity fuses
@@HamzaKhan-ky1mt it actually does lol, if not most missiles wouldn't work (hitting an aircraft perfectly is super difficult, that's why proximity fuses where invented)
I think it's a DCS bug? Or perhaps the missile requires range information from the host in order to proxy fuse ?
@@TriadAgone Desync plus the way proximity fuses in the simulation measure to a point in space and not from the skin of the aircraft means most proximity fuses don't trigger in multiplayer. They work more consistently in SP.
"Stop _trying_ to hit me and _hit_ me!" should be your victory cry :D
That Matrix clip made this video pop
7:47 lmaooooo!!! Cant believe that shit man. Nice flying ice man.
thanks buddy
I like this 60s tactics; bug or not those 3 dodges were impressive.
thanks man
7:45 That is some level 9000 pucker factor right there. Dear God!
You were Neo from Matrix for a while there at 7:16! I really enjoy watching your videos man keep up the good work!
thanks man I appreciate that. i'll keep pumpin em out
Very instructive vid mate, not to mention the matrix moment which was bloody hillarious...
thanks man glad u enjoyed
Lol! I died when the Morpheus insert came up...I was just thinking "He Matrixed them!" Love the content.
I think the missile tracking is a bug but the proxy fuse is not. I think the proxy fuse is a temporary fix if you can call it like that ..
ED might have said well we have this thing going on where missiles keep tracking even without radar guidance so until we fix that IF lock is lost missiles will be dead ( no fuse detonation no nothing).
Try and see if the proxy fuses work when a radar is guiding them.
Another interesting thing will be to see if a "dead" missile can score a kinetic kill on you. If it can't then that validates my theory even more.
yes ur very right they may have broken the proxy fuze on purpose until they solve the tracking issue. thats a good point.
@@GrowlingSidewinder That's what happens when you buy your missiles on Ebay.
@@terryboyer1342 Or if they were made in China lol.
Omg, I was expecting a random video about tactics that I wanted to learn, and I got HANDS DOWN the COOLEST looking trick I have ever seen done in a Sim. That Matrix music was playing in my head watching it, long before the Matrix reference came up in the video itself :D
Hahahaha hahahaha....
That moment of 7:47 realisation
You have the best DCS videos man.
Better than anyone else. Period .
ur too kind brother.
so for today's lesson, if you are packing six missiles that doesn't mean you have to kill six tangos with them or you are a bad pilot, missiles can be used to force the enemy into a position that you can kill them, and prevent them uping their chance of shooting your air frame down, as if they are to be used tactically and not as if you lose them in a fight then you are a bad pilot and you are fired from the air force... right?
correct the first launch is almost always used to force ur enemy defensive and also to gauge his skill level. follow up shots are what will kill him.
@@xmeda considering the jet you are firing at costs somewhere between 10-50 times as much as the AMRAAM you kinda can fire a few and be congratulated for job well done IF you dont waste them completely
firing one and wasting it for nothing is way worse than firing four and scoring a kill
@@xmeda And TRUE true warriors stick their hand out of the cockpit and do flybys with a glock
Another great and informative video from Growling Sidewinder.
appreciate it buddy.
This was the best DCS video i've seen so far LMAO
7:19 The dancecraft when performs the break dance in the air.
Fortunately, this Zhuravlik has a high T/W ratio engines 🤙
Awesome, thanks for the sharing mr. Sidewind ✌😉
I mean if them tracking without presenting any danger was the only thing it would be fine. But with the RWR still beeping you kinda have to assume they are hot. That's a really silly bug.
ya i agree its a big deal and hopefully they fix it soon. theres no reason why a fox1 should still be tracking when the launch aircraft is a ball of flames.
@@GrowlingSidewinder It did serve to illustrate the real life limitation of fox-1, though. IRL, those last launches from Takyon would have been fox-2, and you would be dead.
I wonder why after all these years (decade?) FOX 1 missiles haven't been fixed. Is it covering up a bigger issue and this is the lesser of two evils? Proximity damage would be something that is much needed against aircraft.
good point regardless it is still a hunk of mass could take down a plane without detonation
@@PC_CERTIFIED I agree. Max damage would be a direct hit! That is IF it hits the target. Proximity damage, I think (lol there i go again!), would happen a lot more often... Yes? Please correct me if I'm mistaken. No expert here.
“He is the one” w.t....Haha.. that was awesome. I am laughing so hard.
7:47 wow! that's amazing man! Great video as always, keep them coming!
thanks man glad u enjoyed
I really don't like Russian-made hardware, but the one thing I really envy the Russkies for is the Su-27 (and all its variants). That plane is one hell of a flying / fighting machine, and it looks AMAZING.
You just experienced a glitch in the Matrix. The tracking will be fixed in the next version.
The radar was still providing guidance to those missiles...the radar was still working as the other Flanker is falling but it then lost lock soon and thus they didn't detonate. I think. Very entertaining!
@TAKYON Yeah, I saw that too could the lock be broken when the aircraft was facing away? But yeah, I saw that too
That was great editing for the third fox, "he is the one..." as it passes within feet of the plane, hell...maybe inches.
Holy shit, dude... That was so amazing to watch! I was literally cheering! Well done, sir!
haha thanks steven. glad you enjoyed it man.
HE IS THE ONE
5.30am I'm pishin myself here at the matrix dodge. Very good sir nice 1
thanks buddy
I...just...love your videos! The low-key memes ease the things up :))
Your voice always sounds very calm under pressure. Well done. You know your stuff.
7:44 best moment
Thank you, that was awesome!!! You are the one.
glad u enjoyed man
Oh my god that is epic!!! HOW you managed to dodge those 3 is beyond me. Wow. Awesome dude!
That missle had blue eyes
Good one Hoss! still as Humble as ever oh and have a safe and merry Christmas to you and yours aye!!
thanks tim you too brother merry christmas
Hi Buddy ! wow I must tell you that the lest missile was Masterpiece of MIG - 29 and you did Excellent Performance on Flying..... Thanks for Buty video.
Ps. got my Hornet, ready for Operational and R7 works Sweet.....
congrats man hope ur enjoying it
Sidewinder: "What are you trying to tell me? That I can dodge SARHs?"
Morpheus: "No, Sidewinder. I'm trying to tell you that when you're ready you won't have to."
Great video! Good Fox1 tactics, & you should consider submitting this video in the bug section part of Eagle Dynamics's forum. It illustrates the bug perfectly.
LMFAO! Holy Fucking SHIT THAT WAS CLOSE!! That last missile almost clipped your wing! :P
That was an amazing slow-mo! :D
I'm pretty sure that's not a bug. R-27ER's semi-active radar can guide a missile at any radio-contrast target, either it can be a friendly aircraft painting same target or, in your case, your very own radar provide guidance to these hostile missiles. However in close proximity it looks like missile get out of emission cone and proxy loses "sight", or its a proximity fuse bug. Anyway, pretty interesting case, great video.
jajajjaja, i was thinking bout the matrix scene... then it poped out... jajajjaj well done.
Lol. That ending was totally unexpected.
Great video bro
Thanks buddy, much appreciated.
alllrighty neo calm downn.. lol
hahaha
Matrix bit was classic. Great vid.
thanks buddy glad you enjoyed
@@GrowlingSidewinder you replied. I'm fan boying so hard right now....
Lmao. Too old for that shit.
Learning alot about BFM from these vids.
i met the same thing before when i was using AIM7M to attack a F15, i got killed first, and the missile kept tracking the F15 and finally killed him too.
i was in F18
oh urs actually detonated ? thats interesting I know they track but theyre not supposed to detonate
@@GrowlingSidewinder i felt weird, the only thing different is my F18 didnt rotate it self and kept aiming at target. So i guess, maybe the radar still working while pilot get killed. But after watching your video, i think this is more like a BUG of many FOX 1 missile.
ya man me and the guys I spoke with all said its some sort of bug hopefully ED can fix it soon.
@@GrowlingSidewinder will u have the chance to test fly F14's early access build of early access? Heatblur said they will provide a very early version to some video maker and it's WIP a few days ago.
That triple dodge was absolutely perfect.
Hahaha the end was sick!!!!!!
7:40 o m g
He lost that one that smacked him in the face in the clouds too. I had to watch the impact 10 times to see where it even came from.
Always loved the Flanker family. Good looking and very deadly aircraft
Another great vid mate. Missed this one when i was moving. )
Very cool video...I think the US Navy could use you...
ya for target practice maybe lol
That missile dodge scene was fantastic!
Supreme moment. Love the matrix moment 😂😂 mad skillss
Nice matrix dodge. If only he knew and fired 3 R-77 (from the J-11 version) and said dodge this!
ahah ya those probably wouldn't have been so easy to dodge.
nice to see that u have also this little one frame blackouts in game like me too
*Slowclap* that was magnificent.
Omg those 3 missile dodges o-o
Why am I just seing this old vid!? LMAO!!! that was dope! You got really lucky here.....you just decided to pitch up and roll!! LUCK SIR! LUCK! along with the AI being weak.. LOL
"He is the one" pahahaha! superb stuff! thanks for the tactics and analysis!
you str8 showed out on this Growl... outstanding job. '' He's the 0ne!%?... lolz...
you'll be a good pilot in macross
"He is the One" LOL. Good one
NICE MOVE ACE.
SUB EARNED.
ahah thanks buddy
Hahahaha you are the one!!!
This is a DCS vid right? I know I've been clicking on a few Ace Combat vids of late, but that triple dodge 😮
correct brother this is DCS.
Great job !!!!
Thanks to such videos I'm starting to get lust for some flight simulator like DCS or AceCombat.
Actually I was truly hoping hard for this DCS -Modern Air Combat to hit the market so I can softly get into DCS but no news from ED so far.
He is the one lol that was superb but hilarious.... Well done sir
"He's the one" - Love it, good stuff.
Great production, you seem to have discovered a simulation failure, in that those semi-actives were tracking after he'd lost lock. I'm interested in producing an automated validation infrastructure that would discover these failures automatically.
air to air rockets had in the 80s the so-called proximity lighter that ignites when the rocket reaches a few meters from the target so that this rocket passes a few inches from the target is ridiculous especially when it comes to a modern airplane it is strange how the same rocket and only one hit the opponent and the opponent's exactly 3 missiles did not hit all in all a great video helps me a lot because i am a beginner in SU27 and in missions they just can’t beat the F-16 but I will one day hihihihi
Awesome thanks!
Hi, great video. I learn lots on your videos. Just begining with DCS I only got Su33 as I wanted a career on a Carrier. From what I see from your Channel and Grim Reapers' this is a very limited Fighter mostly focused on Fox 1 missiles.
As I am practicing for later trying multiplayer and before buying FC3, can you point me to tips, strategies and how to make a better use of the aircraft against other foes? Thx
Hey, do you have a soundmod?
Or is it post production?
I realy enjoy your sounds
ya man i add that stuff in after to add some realism.
we had "smart bombs smart missiles" now we have 'stupid ones" too LOL
LMAO proximity fuse pls.
that was so close :o 7:16
Great video! I'd love to see the same but against a fox-1 opponent. That's what's driving me crazy trying to learn dcs... while I'm doing my cranking trying to keep the lock, he can do whatever and let his missiles do the work.
Actually SAHR missile can track. In their terminal phase they actually have a low band emitter used for terminal phase tracking. I was in the navy for 10 years. I worked on the NSSMS defense system we used SAH missiles.
The proximity fuses will not work if the "mother radar" isn't tracking you.
That was amazing
Def thought of the matrix, Didnt know the Russian Bvr missile would continue tracking after you shot him down...
Oh just finished, I knew that was FISHY lol, R27s can pitbull now yay!
You fucking matrixed those missiles
7:00 Howly cow!!!
Question about SARH's. My understanding is that they have on board RADAR that can track if they're close enough and have a valid return. Hence why the 3 at the end tracked. Is that not the case? I've been told before that they will go pit bull at some point but that it's really close to the target when they do. That seems to make sense with the name "Semi-Active", insinuating that they aren't fully active but do have in built tracking capabilities.
With so many more experienced people saying that SARH's don't track with the parent aircraft dead I have to assume I'm misinformed and "Semi-Active" just means they're guided but not by themselves, only with guidance from the parent craft. Good stuff. I really would have thought I'd pick that up after five years of playing DCS and watching DCS videos but I never have.
;he is the one'.. lmao.. you should have bought a lottery ticket that day!
7:49 was my thoughts exactly
wow I always thought AA missles detonate on proximity. or was that not close enough?
I thought aswell
"That's no bug, it's russian bias!" Obie Wan Kenobie
in tacview u can size the plane to original size and oversized with one symbolic button down the controls
7:140 like a BAUS!
some serious matrix like stuff going on near the end lol
edit: i think those fox 1's actually were not tracking, it looked to me like they merely had gone to where you were going the last time they had information.
edit #2 , well if its a known glitch then maybe not :P
It was interesting to see the missiles keep tracking even after the enemy aircraft destroyed? Is it a possibility due to the nature of R-23 missiles IR targeting? The distance between the two aircrafts was less than 7 NM when the 3 missiles were launched. I read that R-23 uses a liquid nitrogen-cooled infrared seeker which required it be locked on to the target before launching, either by the launching aircraft's radar or IRST. It's effective range is 22 miles or 35 KMs. It can be a possibility that it wasn't a radar but IR lock. It's not clear in the video if it was R-23 or R-27 since both have IR capabilities as well as good range for Fox-1 engagements. That's why the missiles never stopped tracking. Again, a guess, not a pilot's experience to comment.
hi G.S. I'm curious if you were in the air force... the knowledge of radar usage and terminology is fantastic. I'd like to think that if you learned all this stuff without being in the air force, that I too can learn it and employ it as effectively as you do. love the vids. thnx.
A functioning proximity fuse would have detonated on all three occasions.
Tracking after lead aircraft went cold? Looks more like missiles flying straight, waiting for next input from aircraft.
That's excellent! Lucky you! XD
Great video! You re the one LoL. Please try a su27 vs f15 strategy, fox 1 vs fox 3
not a bad idea mate, thanks for the suggestion
@@GrowlingSidewinder from the cockpit of the su27 will be challenging
So, from the looks of the position, you don't have to keep bore sight on an air frame to keep Fox-1s tracking? I didn't really know that. How big is the off-bore track?
