Dev skips are super important if you want highly creative games from average skill gamers. The pool of high skill gamers who are also high skill devs is really low. Even so, they've certainly got to do a better job of hiding the skips.
I'm from Germany and I loved watching SMM but after some time they ended these series and I missed it so I'm glad that I found your channel! :) You're skilled, relaxed, funny and never give up. Keep it up!

Dev stars are generally looked down upon because it means you are making a level you don't even have the skills to beat, and doing so makes you look really trashy. It's okay if you aren't a good player, just don't make hard levels then unless you're willing to put in the time to learn how to clear them. Anyone that finds your level online is going to consider you a bad level designer if you resort to dev exits, dev blocks, or dev stars. You can be a good level designer with easier levels so just giving you some advice before you get yourself a reputation as a bad level designer (if your levels even get noticed, though there's just as much chance people will completely ignore your levels if you do that stuff, and people definitely will avoid starring your levels as soon as they realize you have that in one of your levels). I wish you luck nonetheless and hope you consider that advice, you definitely could make some aesthetically pleasing easier levels if you try, just don't rely on dev exits.
I like to pause this video precisely at 11:29 just to enjoy Ryu's face in moment when Ryu realizes he can reverse troll the creator and cheese the crap out of this level.
It's a margin that's there. Some people are just trolls for lols and will make the idiotic levels with the dev skips. Some intend it - others just want lolz. Heck, some actually just want to help the lesser skilled out , or just for the purpose of sheer discovery (an easter egg let's say) But it is true, the 'good' levels with dev skips are rare, usually they'll be dirty tr0ll ones to just waste people's time. But the worst sort of levels are the ones where there are NO dev skips but the whole gig is 'pick a pipe' RNG. They're the worst of $cum xD

That's not a softlock. Locking up is when a program (like a game) freezes up and stops responding, and a softlock is where it's basically that situation, it's stuck, but the program/game is still running. Like when you're stuck, can't go forward or back, and you can't even die, you just have to reset.
Alright, so I've never actually played SMM, but I watch a lot of Ryu playing it, among others. I have a question regarding uploading levels. At the end, Ryu makes a comment about the creator not having the "cojones to upload the level legitimately". That got me to thinking that a random fan like me could never get the game and make a level for Ryu to play that was actually difficult without it having a dev exit (because I just wouldn't be good enough at the game to complete it legitimately). Is this correct? Because I have heard/read that in order to upload a level in the first place, you have to complete it yourself.
I think "I wanna be the guy" or "I wanna be the guy gaiden" would bring you so much joy. Because this game is soooo hard and so many people fail but you are such a good gamer that you would manage!

The Last level was really fucking garbage. The Map maker was even to bad to beat his own map. Do people really deserve to upload maps they cant even beat legitimately? If you dont have the perseverance to beat your own frigging level, because it is either hard or a piece of shit like that last one, can you really expect other to have it? I feel sorry for Ryukahr for having to put up with that kind of stuff.
Birdmaster92 in my opinion, if you're going to build a troll level with a simple exit right at the start, go all the way and make it the only possible exit. Troll block any other path.

Worst Dashie level is still one of my favorite Ryukhar levels ever. Wouldn't want Ryu to suffer every day, but damn do I love a hot garbage troll SMM play-through. See also - Carl vs. Barb Master and Commander, Carl vs. Poo troll series, ect.

Besides, the level was doable without the 'dev skip,' and those jumps were as wide as you could get, meaning he had to have tested them, right?
