The limited edition dolls are beautiful they may be the first limited diction doll I purchase. Your Claudie mold collection is great in the background. You can purchase as many as you want. Your face shows how much joy you get from your collection. It makes me smile to watch your videos about your doll collection. I can’t be to mad about AG producing less Claudie molds because the dolls of color don’t sell as much as the white dolls especially at this price point. I give them credit for releasing two dolls so people have a choice and an opportunity to get a limited edition doll of color. That is one reason I want to purchase to Claudie mold doll.

Hi Blaine, thank you for sharing this amazing video! I absolutely adore the Claudie doll as well. I purchased both of the Star Dust princess dolls and I love them both. I have 3 Claudie dolls, 3 Tiana dolls and now This Pink Stardust Princess one. So yes definitely Claudie is gorgeous. I love all the outfits you put on her. Wait…only 3k are Claudie 😮 When I checked the website when both holiday dolls dropped I read both listings carefully abs both state “No more than 13k will be made…) so my take away was there were going to be 13k each. Which would have arguably been too many as I believe AG has had problems moving that amount of LE dolls. But only 3k for Claudie…not even 7,500. Claudie is my favorite AG doll. When she released I purchased her and her available outfits immediately. I don’t have room for the bigger items so I tend to focus on dolls, outfits, and small accessories. I had this same thought with the Tiana doll. She was the first to be backordered, and I was thrilled because I wanted AG to know how much we love Tiana and Black dolls. But then I’ve wondered if the reason she was the first to be backordered is because they made less of her, thinking she wouldn’t sell. @DisBlaine They left a Barbie that was sold out at the time by my door. Anyone could have looked up what she sells for on eBay and stole her. Luckily, I have honest neighbors.
I think AG might be surprised that Claudie sells better than their estimate because it's my impression that many adult collectors (myself included) like her mold. However, I just looked at median US household income by race/ethnicity, and in 2021 it was $75,000 for white households and $48,000 for black households. When you are talking about dolls this expensive, you need a fair amount of disposable income to even consider buying one, and black households are factually less likely to have that income. Also, I do think there is a natural preference for people buying one doll for their child to pick the one with a similar skin colour. I believe the real problem is income inequality and not so much how many very expensive black dolls AG makes. I hope they eventually bring the Claudie mold to the Truly Me line, which would cost roughly 1/3 the price if one waited until there was a 20% off sale.
@@c.w.2000 yeah and tbh I speak from a sort of ignorant place, where I’m buying for myself and don’t have kids and therefore have more disposable income AND she’s my favourite mold. I hate the idea of saying we should be grateful we got as many as we did… but some see it that way. I also come from doll communities that are geared more toward adult collectors, so I have more ignorance because of that.
I'm in the US with an AG Berry account since 2018... I've had lots of issues with my account since they upgraded their site a few years ago. I also have to call in my orders. I've only had 1 or 2 times in the last few years the online account work.
@@DisBlaine Honestly helps me not over spend LOL. And calling the Berry line helps. In the time I've only had issues with one person acting like I was an inconvenience and screwing up the order. To know they made less Claude dolls is upsetting especially since they don’t share that info. But it is facts that black dolls don’t sell. Regardless she’s a beautiful doll. I’m definitely going to to purchase her and I’m happy they made her an option versus just the Josephina I hate tht mold but her doll is cute
To add to that my problem in the doll community is everyone as a collective wants more representation but when they get it they complain or don’t purchase it. And American girl makes products based on those actions, so the community needs to actually purchase a doll of color so they can make more dolls of color
@@Badboydolls I think I’m in a weird kind of denial because I have personal feelings with her being my favorite doll mold. And she’s such a beautiful version! Even if she sells out first, it’ll be interesting to see how much faster. And if Josefina sells first… ☠️☠️☠️

Idk how or who gave you the information that American girl made 30% less of the claudie version of this doll, for my understanding American girl was making 1300 each doll, if I’m wrong, you can prove me wrong, also the Josefina version is literally Lila with blue eyes & no freckles lol, if you put the claudie ones eyes in the Josefina one, it’s literally Lila lmao, but anyway I do have this doll & I absolutely adore her, she’s so pretty
@@TheDollyBoy wellllll I can’t prove you wrong per se… but I can tell you I saw the numbers with my own eyes, and I’m definitely not the only one. I find the Josefina doll aside from her eyes, so if she had Lila’s, i probably would’ve gotten her too ☠️
Maybe they dont disclose that (like many other doll companies dont disclose that) because they want to do what makes sense for their business while not making little black girls aware that dolls that look like them dont sell as well 😢

I like the doll, but I just hate the dress there’s not enough detail on it for the price point like the one in Silver was beautiful very much worth it. It was giving everything but this one is so basic. I don’t get it.😒
@@DollyMe it’s funny you should say that, because the more outfits I try on her, the more disappointed I become in the holiday gown. It feels so cheap compared to regular clothes. I really love the accessories tho.
I have a comment. It is not meant to be mean or disrespectful. There seems to be no end to your spending. I used to be this way. I got myself in huge trouble with credit. Can you make a video on how you budget for your dolls? Also, isn't space an issue? I am tripping over things to get to others.
@@ahomefordolls166 I’ve talked about it a bit on here. I’ve been collecting for so long I have what I call Doll Currency (selling old dolls that have appreciated in value to buy more dolls). Plus I have regular money from working lol. The only trouble I have with credit is my bank is always bugging me to increase my limit 🤪 I prefer to keep my limit small, just for the amount I need and can pay off every month. It’s a dividend card, so instead of paying interest, I pay on time and they give ME interest lol. Space on the other hand… soon I’ll be dangling dolls from the ceiling!!
❤Love your videos! I hear ya with the total doll issue. Its almost like its a loss for Claudie because the fewer numbers almost make her exclusive, but it also is insulting to make fewer. It's a dream almost to say in a few years that Claudie will be the coveted doll, while the Josefina doll is over produced...mass produced like the Holiday Barbie of the 90s. The African American Holiday Barbie are always marked up because there's so few out there, while the white Barbie doll is everywhere! I plan on getting both AG dolls Caucasian and Black because they remind me of Marie Grace and Cecile. ❤
@@persnicketypleasantpenelop7505 I was never a Barbie collector, so I’m only learning about this holiday doll phenomenon now (producing fewer black versions who then become harder to track down). It’s so wild to me! But that’s a fun comparison: Marie grace and Cecile lol
I’m sorry-what did you say? They made 3,000 claudie mold dolls and 10,000 josephina molds? I nearly spit out my dinner! That’s upsetting to hear. I’d assume the number would be more even 😞
@@scarletsavenger1367 such an unnecessary number gap right? Even if they wanted to do more of one than the other this difference just seems rude. Hateful even.
Do you think she looks close to a Josefina Doll (not mold) in coloring? I get a bit upset because I am Hispanic or Latina or Mexican American (Whatever). It makes me mad that there are only white or black dolls. It is hard. I made Kavi into a Hispanic doll. Do you think she has the coloring and would maybe look good in Josefina outfits? Just curious... as I have yet to buy either one.
@@LisaWhitmire-c3f welllllll in a fateful twist, I show her next to an older Josefina doll near the end of the video! In my (white) opinion, either of these dolls could be Mexican / Latina if you wanted, because there’s so much variation in Mexican people. BUT! If you consider the gown like a Quinceañera dress (it’s not far off if you ask me) I think Claudie looks better. AG makes enough racially ambiguous TM dolls, but there really aren’t a lot of Latina specific dolls or characters, yep you’re right. So we kind of have to make them ourselves 🥴
@@DisBlaine Yes I am learning the different molds and I hate Josefina molds because of the weird eyes thing. It bugs me. The dolls are pretty but the eyes are off. I like Kavi and I think that is the Joss mold. My favorite is Maritza (which was expensive off Ebay). Another favorite of mine is Jolie doll. I was not impressed with this years Christmas Princess doll because it seemed less than previous years. However, I know I will buy at least one. After seeing this video I will probably get the Claudie mold one. Cheers
@@LisaWhitmire-c3f did you see how off the Josefina eyes are on the doll in this video?? It’s an ongoing problem. Kavi is Marie Grace but Maritza is Joss. They’re both among my favorites! My biggest beef with AG is they don’t make enough dolls with black hair and brown eyes (even the black hair is quite brown)
@@puddintame296 hmmm I think I’m missing something. You’re saying AG made 30% of the Claudie dolls to Josefina dolls because Claudie fans don’t have the money to purchase multiples? And if people can’t afford her, I’m saying they’re racist? I must’ve been more tired than I thought when I filmed this, because I have no idea what I said to spark THAT reaction. So, as a fellow fan of the Claudie mold, why do you think they made so few of her?
@@DisBlaine no, I’m saying I don’t have the money to purchase multiple dolls. I had only enough for 1 doll and I chose the Josefina mold because I like hair play. I feel like I can’t style the curly-haired dolls without messing them up. I have no idea why they sell less Claudie molds. It just sounded to me that you thought it was due to racism. Maybe I misunderstood.
The Claudie not getting as many dolls makes me sad. Sad isn't exactly the right word but it's disappointing for sure. They do or did the same thing w bratz back in the day is that's why felicia is so sought after is because they didn't make a lot of her dolls same with sum sashas. Its sad that's princess jasmine isn't selling well either. And I feel like many ppl on agig when it comes to their doc she has to be super unique like diff eyecolor skin color for them to get them (weird cause pink stardst claudie(mold) is VERY unique yet they just kept calling her claudie) even though they have other dolls in their collection that are super similar.pink stardust Claudie mold lots reacted negatively to her or at least on my feed so I was happy to know that u would like her. @@justmiya8053 yeah I’m still disappointed in the massive difference in production numbers. I can’t believe Bratz did it too! As someone who never collected those dolls, I always considered them the opposite of that. Someone forwarded me some negative reactions to the Claudie mold when it was new, and I was SHOCKED. I could only imagine it was because humans have trouble with change or things that are new. As someone who loves this mold so much, I can’t think of any other explanation 🤪 And Jasmine is completely unique! So they can’t use that as an excuse. The limited edition dolls are beautiful they may be the first limited diction doll I purchase. Your Claudie mold collection is great in the background. You can purchase as many as you want. Your face shows how much joy you get from your collection. It makes me smile to watch your videos about your doll collection. I'm not getting either of these dolls because I think I can spend my doll collecting budget in ways that bring more value for me. Also, being in Canada with no way to access a US pickup or get points, I would have to pay even more for a mail forwarding service. However, if I did get one, it would be Claudie. I also love her mold, and I think her skin colour looks good with the bright pink. If there is a choice of skin colours for collector dolls, I generally buy the one I think looks best in the outfit unless I really prefer one mold over the other.
@@c.w.2000 ouch yes these are almost $450 CAD, and that’s if you have the means to buy them. Not to mention no berry points unless you have a workaround. They make these hard enough for American buyers, never mind Canadian / international
When Halloween came around I purchased a Princess Tiana (my favorite Disney princess) outfit for Claudie because to me, Claudie IS Tiana too 😊 I really want a LE Claudie (totally using that moniker too lol) so I am very glad I caught this video. I need to order her soon. I believe AG has gotten this wrong and LE Claudie is going to sell out. The dress standing by itself, though 😂 hilarious…but not at the price point 🙃 Thanks for another awesome video!
@@lisaknight5194 yeah the wording of the edition size was tricky. You’d think AG would want us to realize how limited they are, but they made it sound like 26k were made in total!!
Haha she does feel like a lush version of Claudie to me even tho she’s so different aesthetically. I’ve renamed the one I opened - and when (not if) I buy more, I’ll give them names too. The mint in box doll tho? That’s LE Claudie
Random, but maybe you can help me. I need some kind of floating shelf option to display dolls. (Floating shelf because the floor space underneath is taken up.) Is that a floating shelf behind your couch or do you have any floating shelves for dolls? If so where did you find them? I’m nervous that such a thing doesn’t exist in a deep enough shelf to hold the dolls. 😬
My husband made mine out of wall brackets and hollow core, repurposed, bifold closet doors. I think he may have found them at the ReStore. They are about 13 or 14 inches deep. Mine are wood tone but they can certainly be painted.
@@kb8990 lol wanna know what that “shelf” is? A 4” baseboard held up by corner brackets and my couch 🤣 I’ve used Lack shelves from IKEA, which float and come in 3 different sizes. They’re pretty cheap and easy to use.
@@DisBlaine👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻Ha, thanks for the ideas! I would never have guessed baseboard, but it works!
I like the pink stardust to become the Frog Princess and the Frog Princess doll become the pink stardust doll. Unfortunately I have to wait to buy her for the rewards, I just had to come home with Rapunzel first. I did get the light toned doll in the pink stardust, but that was for my outfits I wanted to put her in. When I attended the Orlando event for her she (darker skinned doll) was very popular. Many that I spoke with were very excited about her. Just thought to share. As far as Jasmin I don't personally care for that version of the mold and Jazmin is Middle Eastern not Afro-American so there is that too. Its hard to relate to for me. It was just off but I loved loved yours and what you did with her.
@@JoanneSag when I get my next 2 holiday Claudie dolls, I’ll be able to see how she’d look as Tiana, because I’ll be doing eye / wig swaps. I can’t wait to see her in all these variations!
I hope the Orlando event was fun! I should try to visit that store when I go to Disney world
@@DisBlaine Well if you come let me know if you want to have a meet up here at the AG store. Only if you have time. There are a few of us around here that collect AG. All age groups.
@@JoanneSag ooh are there meetups? That would be fun!!
I don’t know if that’s the case, and maybe they did make equal amounts of her, but it was a thought/concern I had.
@@ThoughtsArrive aww sadly Tiana was the last to go on back order during the first batch. Cinderella sold out first (she’s really popular and a classic, so I wasn’t surprised) and then Ariel-who’s also popular but her design got the most complaints. I remember so clearly because I kept ordering more Tiana dolls until they ran out 🤣
(And I was super annoyed she took so long-so was my wallet)
But Cinderella and Ariel had random dolls pop back online, so you might’ve seen them show up here and there after Tiana was gone.
@@DisBlaine ah, you are correct. I must have been looking after the other two had restocks because I had only ordered Tiana and she was the only one backordered at the time.
I need one of those wigs for my custom 26! That's gorgeous. And now thanks to you, I may need the Pink Stardust doll. (If someone will sell it without the outfit or accessories - not a pink girl at all)

@@iamsoverybored878 oh noooo! Or even someone with a kid in their life who might like a free doll!!
@@MyRealitywithNicole oh no, that’s so frustrating!! I’ve only had to call in 2 orders. Does it bug you having to call in?
@@DisBlaine Honestly helps me not over spend LOL. And calling the Berry line helps. In the time I've only had issues with one person acting like I was an inconvenience and screwing up the order. I had to call back to get it fixed and the second person was a manager and gave me a discount because of that.

There’s a doll behind you to your left that caught my eye and I wonder if you could tell me about her. She’s third from the end and wearing a white nightie, I think. Her hair is pulled into two side ponytails. What skin tone and original doll is she? And her eye color? How do you fix her hair so nicely without messing the ringlets up? @@hakagubanana5257 ohhhh that’s a Tiana doll wearing a beforever Addy nightgown, and I’ve put her hair in pigtails. That means she has the unique Tiana skin tone and the light brown decal eyes. @@ristiannarussell4622 yyyyeah I’m reading a lot of comments that mattel (among other toy companies!) has a history of doing this with their black dolls: making smaller numbers, which sell out faster than they’re a lot harder to chase on the aftermarket than their white counterparts.
