Yes ! The movie was perfect, in every way. America at its best in the late 1980’s. I remember that time, I was a young man full of life, strength, energy. 😊
@@MGstaR17 Sorry to hear about this. He was definitely a very fine actor but he wasn't the best one in this movie. This is my favorite movie of Robert DeNiros. Not only is it a good script, well-made, and great chemistry with Grodn, but also it's DeNiro being somewhat DeNiro but not Cartoon DeNiro, where he has become a parody of himself.
the chemistry between Yaphet Koto and Bob DiNiro is absolutely 100% perfect. Both master of different looks for pauses which really makes this dialog between them pop beutifully
By far, hands down, the best movie of all time. I know that sounds crazy, but seriously. The acting, the writing the cinematography, the mood themed soundtrack. All the characters fit. The dialogue is real and has feeling. Every single person involved just put their umph into it. Bottom line.
Absolutely. DenNiro, James Grodin, Yaphet Kotto, John Ashton, Joe Pantoliano, everyone is a treasure in this movie. They should have been very lucky getting such a stellar ensemble most other movies would dream of.
That's how you know it's a movie for sure XD That Kid should be yelling about the Man faking a badge, or at least poking him a thousand times, and then throwing up on him :)
@@michaelheath2866 Not in the eighties....in the past 15 years? sure...but..I dunno..I used to fly coast to coast twice a summer during the late 80's early 90's... RARELY ever heard a screaming baby..or a disruptive child (much less an adult) we didn't have in flight movies, no ipad/phones...just books...and nicotine wafting back from the smoking section.
this film is perfect. flawless. every aspect works & fits. casting, music, wardrobe, editing, cinematography, obviously writing, directing & acting. comedy, drama, & action, all masterfully crafted. should be a film school pre-requisite.
Some of the best movies don't have sequels. No matter how many times I've watched this one (20+?), the airport scene still causes me thrill and anticipation.
UUUUHHH- you do know this film DID have a sequel right? Called "Another Midnight Run" it was a TV movie and kept the character of Jack Walsh but did not have a single actor from this film in it.
Revisiting this film - only seen it once before but as soon as I saw it I knew it was going to be one of my favorites ever. Yaphet Kotto is the standout even among a cast of other stars that are giving it their all. Absolutely love him in this, he's so incredible in pretty much everything he's in. RIP Yaphet, may you finally have your bonus situation in heaven.
watched this movie randomly in tv like 15 years before. And i watched all. And i like both De Niro and Grodin who just passed away. I have google Grodin copule months earlier and was happy hes alaive. RIP
Scott McAfee here, I played the "boy on plane" who is eyeballing DeNiro on the flight as he alters his ID. I thought I'd add a little info of interest from soneone who was actually in the film. The arm of the woman sitting next to my 6 year old self belongs my real life mother, who was absolutely star struck over Robert DeNiro and Charles Grodin. She was a huge fan of both. So that's the happiest arm in the world you are looking at right there. The 6 year old me had no idea who Robert DeNiro was nor, like most 6 year olds, did I have any type of filter or social awareness. In the scene on the airplane, DeNiro was originally smoking a cigarette (Ahhh, the 80's), like he is in almost every other scene in the film. Having been warned of the dangers of smoking by my parents, and assured that if I ever touched cigarettes' I'd get cancer and die, while we were preparing to film the scene I looked up at him and proclaimed "Mr. DeNiro, if you don't stop smoking those cigarettes' you are going to get cancer and die!".
Even 34 years later, I remember DeNiro laughing and being a very good sport abut the whole thing and very jovial and friendly about it. He put out his cigarette and, well, that's why the airplane scene is one of the only scenes in the film where he isn't smoking, which would not have been abnormal in the 1980's :-P
@@Romsie62 The generation matters. I somehow like 80s movies. Martin brest movies are usually good. Beverly hills cop. A scent of a woman. Both were good movies.
