Marxists, Socialists' Richard Wolff, Chris Hedges, Catherine Fitts and others' fight is to take over. They don't create anything new. They don't produce products or services. They do not create wealth for anyone. They never have. They only want to transfer it to the "worker" (which are only union workers). When they say workers, they don't represent all workers in the US. They are part of the establishment they teach you to hate. Be not deceived, They are part of the Game that is Rigged.

Thank you professor Wolff. Best talk ever, on this subject.
An incredible eye opener. Our system isn't just corrupt, it is evil. No other word for it. The wealthy 10% don't care about us and the government, they bought, doesn't give a damn about the American people, either. What Wolff says about FDR and the great depression is GOLD. We the people, are not powerless. Nice to feel a little hope, for a change.
So much has become clear to me now. It is unreal.

This entitled, establishment professor works for big brother. "Change" is an illusion presented as some new answer, but its the same goal as in any previous generation: world socialism or a one world government. That's his push as is all leftists. Always pushing "democracy" as the high ideal when in fact it has never existed in the US. Its a republic. Democracy is mob rule that will bring about a police state. We're seeing it transpire openly.

Today bankers, governments, and corporations are one and the same. It’s us vs them but the masses have been brainwashed, here in Canada we had the best system for the people until 1974 when it all changed. The people’s bank of Canada was created in 1933 and belonged to the people, it printed Canada’s money at zero interest we created schools, hospitals, Highways, we started Medicare, social security and are debt was stagnant, because the people got taxed to destroy the money that was created and spent into existence for the people. In 1974 our corrupt government gave the right to create our money to the bank of international settlements and these bankers charge Canada interest and since our economy is falling apart and our national debt has skyrocketed because our tax money goes into the pockets of bankers instead of destroying the currency we get inflation. Key dates are 1913 the creation of the fed, 1974 Pierre Eliot Trudeau back stabs Canada, 2001 The Europe union and if you ask me this is unconditional but then again we don’t have a real democracy just like we don’t have real capitalism, we have cronyism with a quiet dictator. I am not suffering but do think of others. I got some grandchildren growing up. Only uneducated people with no social skills, resolve conflict by calling people names. Obviously you are not well read or would know we already have many social programs in America including schools, libraries, VA hospitals, EPA, FDA, medicare, etc. Its pretty easy to know the middle class is shrinking, that called statistics, and that corporations have been paying less than their fair share since the 80's increasing yearly, and that Wall Street is holding everyone hostage because our money is mixed with their speculations. Bernie has been consistent in his voting for all Americans for decades, is not the typical corporate politician backed by corporations, and is not an entitled billionaire who gets support by promoting bigotry, racism, and said if he ever ran he would run on a republican ticket because they were the most uneducated, FOX TV new watching bunch. If you want to know how socialism end up in eastern EUROPA in 1989, ask me , because I grew up there in REAL socialism . You do not understand the BASIC difference between social programs- in Capitalism and real Socialism as economic system , where rich become absolutely rich and powerful, as a STATE officials , where is NO justice for any ordinary man . Bernie is "good hearted man " who do not understand how the economy works . Bernie is not advocating for socialism is the pure definition. He is expanding social programs we already have.He is not trying to get rid of capitalism just reign it in a little. It was that way before Regan started with trickle down. Are you objecting to the top 10 % making more money, or having wall street speculation tax to expand and pay for public college, or overturning Citizens United, and Glass-Stegall? Are you against the #TPP ? I am not buying into your fear tactics of trying to compare os to CUBA when it was a communist nation. If #TPP goes through it won't matter, many countries including states will be working for nothing. I enjoy listening to Richard Wolff's talks. A lot of what he talks about I was able to come to realize (before I learned of him) through observing politics, reading history and reading about socialism and communism. I also read the constitution of My country (Australia) and I read China's constitution. The rise of the central banks and their eventual deregulation.
All this is self taught. I saw the system is flawed, but continuously praised. And no one talks about the other side.
Unfortunately I also learned I am one of few people I know who understands it on this level. About 50+ are interested in hearing/reading and sharing what I have to say.
Others although they don't respond via online platforms. In person they tell me that they read my stuff and find it very interesting.
I also provide credible sources that back up my what I am saying.

Well, shouldn't we make cristiano ronaldo to earn just 50.000$ a year?
I don't think it's good or bad to earn that much. If a high income is simply the result of a voluntary exchange between people the outcome doesn't bother me the same way it wouldn't bother me if some people willingly decide to make out.
There's also the consequences on productivity (thus on wages and prices for the people) that would arise when the price or wage system is distorted by any non-economical motivation.

I believe that the 99% are shifting incrementally towards an understanding that the inherent fairness of a socialist framework is the only way to ethically rebalance our communities. However, I can't see us achieving a successful turnover of the current system without vilification and even assault from the present powerholders. Especially with massive surveillance in place, organizing a labor opposition to the entrenched mainstream will be difficult and probably messy. Hi UCLU people and Professor Wolff. This conference of yours is very interesting. But unfortunately, I think Dr. Wolff's conclusion (establish democracy at the working place) is but a wishfull thinking if the issue of the origin of the capital is not determined prospectively. And by that I mean that for a democracy to work at the working place the production processes should not be based on capital benevolently provided by the rich people. Counting on that is just like counting that the possessing class would not have destroyed the workers' solidarity that forced FRD to implement basic social-economic reforms at the Big Crisis period. But thanks to Professor Wolff (and others) we know it did... Therefore, the only way to make democracy at work possible is if, from the inception of this democracy, the capital were provided by an entity that itself resulted from a democratic process (if this were at all possible), i.e. a democratic government. Though Professor Wolff doesn't seem to know it (probably because he reeds too much "information" from mainstream sources...), such a government does exist nowadays in at least one country: China! For China is today a country in which Mr. Xi Jinping has been reelected (absolutely!) in a more democratic way than any US President since FDR! And this is why, in China, the capital today is largely in the hands of the "communist" government. And this is why in China today the Chinese people is in the whereabouts of 90% content of the "communist party's government). And what will continue assuring this success in China is the fact that, thanks to the admirable achievements of the electronic industry in China (in spite of the abominable counter measures taken by the Biden government) , the numerous really talented Chinese discoverers of new revolutionary inventions will not get drafted any more into the US economy for mere higher salary purposes. Unlike the Unitedstatians ("Americans" can no more designate them), the mainland Chinese love their regime of government and, if Westerners didn't like so much to be blind-folded (or if as Professor Wolff would say), they were not "afraid" to face reality, they would take a lesson from China instead of wanting to give China a lesson! Sorry my comment is so long!

In this way, they end up paying no taxes. This is the reason, they get more richer and own more equities and properties. However, the regular workers do not have such write off benefits on taxes. Their taxes automatically take off before their get their pay checks. Plus, rich people try to buy off politicians to get more tax write off tax laws. Second, FDR did not get us out of the depression, it took WW2 to fully end the depression and millions died. During the so called depression, both Germany and Japan were able to build a massive military machine through "state capitalism." Socialism has been a failure wherever it has been attempted. The Us is far from a full capitaist economy, it is very much a mixed economy.
I would like Richard Wolff to tell us how much he ask for to speak, does he speak for free?

One thing Richard did not mention was the brutality which socialist/workers movements in the US faced. People were at times murdered with impunity in their efforts to move their political ambitions forward by privately hired corporate mercenaries, or police agencies.
One would be naive to presume that a more modern, sophisticated, technologically advanced opposition would not be a profoundly dangerous adversary. Only when people become committed enough to fight in a de facto war where being injured or killed was a real possibility will they be able to be a real threat.
We know how many nations of the world treat workers movements and socialist parties. Often with US installed proxies, they use CIA trained death squads to deal with these people. Even on the face of this, some nations have succeeded. Do we in the west have such commitment and courage? Will we ever find out ?

Don't ya just love Prof Wolff... Such a warm, real, caring, inspiring man. There are better, other ways to raise up the many instead of the greedy, few.... The great social anthropologist who taught for many years at the LSE in London and unfortunately died last year said... The ultimate hidden truth of the world.... Is that it is something we make.... And could just as easily make differently! He too was a great Prof of economics and critical of these rigid economic systems that have captured neoliberal economics... The democratisation of capitalism is a great model... The world is struggling to find a sustainable way forward that is more equitable, socially just and restores the social bonds and fabric that binds communities together, reduces poverty, inequalities and are socially just... Thank you Prof... Your insights reveal how that could be... If only we are bold enough to challenge the behemoths that control power, wealth and divide us. Maybe we could be a happier, less corrupted, more socially accepting, less rapacious species....history as you demonstrate rhymes and I agree, it is time....to imagine what that truth could be before we destroy not only the planet but the great civilizing nature our Species/ Communities are capable of. Mammon (unfettered capitalism) must not prevail.... It will destroy us as your illustrations demonstrate. Let us hope the movements of the young and young at heart prevail. The Century of "The self," is collapsing.... What replaces it is up to us... The Demos...I love Chris Hedges too.... His integrity, prophetic writings are a tour de force and a warning... It is vital that the US does not fall to the Christian fascists...as it appears to be heading towards ... A Pence, Cotton, Pompeo, DeVoss cabbal would be a disaster for the world? Led by a competent neocon evangelical nut job lusting for the end of days? That is what I fear and as Chris has described appears to be forming in the turgid arena that has ensued/fermented over the past 30 years or so in US politics? Let us hope a progressive social justice program of secular sanity prevails! Thanks for the lecture.....

One question I have is how about the profit motive? If I have enough money to start a business and hire workers, what’s wrong with me earning a profit off of their work? If it weren’t for me, they would not be able to have a job. Plus, the profit I take in that scenario reflects the risk. I wonder what Dr. Wolff would say to that.
At any rate, Dr. Wolff as always is very capable and makes you think.

He'd say you are a capitalist fascist imperialist pig of a dictator and you must be shot and your business handed to your employees. You getting the idea, renting or building the workplace, buying materials, equipment and maybe advertising pales in comparison to the monumental work your employees put it and the miserable wages you offer them, you swine. If you operate at a loss, putting in your own money or borrowing from investors, it's your fault, you're doing a bad job, but you manage to become profitable then all credit is due to the poor workers you're exploiting and underpaying and they should make more decisions on how your company is run.

This story might be believable by college students however, he failed to mention the Federal Reserve Act of 1913 which is the very source of the problems we deal with today. The expansion and contraction of the money supply is the primary source of evil he fails to speak of and the truth that communists and socialist fail to articulate. As an economist, failing to mention this monumental fact goes beyond an oversite and creates a glaring fact that he has an ulterior motive. If he told the truth radio/TV stations would not be trying to push his narrative.
