    Nice review Steve. Would like to see more testing with it, especially in the higher ranges.

      I would love to see that also... I just don't have anything in that range to test it with.

    Nice that it's got a larger screen and better test leads. I might order one in the future.

      Excellent! If I didn't already have one, this would be the one to get.

    Bigger screens are better for OM's. :)
    Looks great but pre charging the battery must have been an option!😄 New toys for boys are always fun.👍

    Good review, Steve. I am enjoying the cooler weather in northern Minnesota visiting family at our cabin. Next week is back to Texas. This looks a lot like the H4 I purchased from R&L. Does this product have a PC application like nanoVNA saver?

      It has been really nice up here these last few days for sure! NanoVNA Saver will work with this one too!

    With a lot of comments, I am sure it was mentioned, but for accuracy one would calibrate after each frequency change. However, I do the same as you when just looking to get a general feel of what my antenna(s) are doing. I might go for the LiteVNA64. Thanks es 73 KF6BL

    Hi Steve,
    Great review. No 3D printer here, yet. That's how it arrived from R&L. You and the family stay safe. 73 WJ3U

      Thanks again for sending it over to look at. I'd definitely get this model if I was getting a new one today.

    Hey, thanks for the reivew! I have a similar LiteVNA at home but it i almost unusable as there are huge fluctuations when measuring. I noticed the same kind of unstability shows on your screen. do you have any idea how that can be reduced?
    I am using the tool on a portable radio rubber antenna and once attached, every little move i make with my hands around the antenna or the cables dramatically changes the SWR reading.

      Your body introduces capacitance as your field combines with the antenna - distance or a better antenna that has "the other half of the dipole" would help.

    Very nice video. I only use my NanoVNA as a simple antenna (really only VHF/UHF/700.800) analyzer and duplexer/filter quick checking device. The larger screen of the LiteVNA makes it a worthwhile purchase for me. You can never have enough gadgets in your toolbox. Thanks!

    LiteVNA64 or Nanovna-F V3

    The calibration did not take into account the pigtail you connected so the calibration plane is wrong.

    • @temporarilyoffline
      @temporarilyoffline  6 месяцев назад +1

      You calibrate was is needed to isolate the DUT as best as you can. I haven't seen this video in a long time, but I probably would have needed to add an adapter, that I would have to remove to complete the test. You're right though: "do the best you can with what you have". If this were a true lab, I'd I have lab grade tools and proper jumpers of all minds. "Good enough" is a great place to start.

    My aging eyes would like the larger screen. Here are some specs from the link: Frequency stability 550 points/s Avg=1. Sweep points (on device) 10 ~ 1001 points, adjustable. Sweep points (USB) 1 ~ 1024 points, adjustable -

    How is nothing on the same as open? I thought you need the open sma calibration because it takes into account the tiny air gap.

    • @temporarilyoffline
      @temporarilyoffline  6 месяцев назад

      It's a very tiny air gap, and you might be introducing more capacitance then You're measuring out of "nothing", both are well below the tolerances of the device. Do what makes ya happy and have fun.

      I would say if you don't need more frequency range thr keep what you have. If you don't have one at all, this is a great place to start.

    In fairness, the NanoVNA is available in the same two screen sizes as the LiteVNA.

      Yep, if you don't need the extra frequencies the NanoVNA is great.

      It was neat to see, we don't see many purples. The device itself has a serial connection, so no real need for usb-c

    Yeah so you forgot to change the port for the second line. The first line was on S11 and the seconds on S21. Which means that the second one was measuring nothing.
    I am amazed by the speed of this thing. My current cheap chinese clone does 201 points per second orso. This thing does ~1001 in less time it seems.
    The only reason I consider buying this is because I want to match my WiFi antennas. (And technically because I want to finally check properly which of my ADS-B antennas is best. I can do that right now but I am all but certain about the results because its a cheap chinese clone.) It would cost me about 170 euro.

      Thanks for the tip! Good luck with your ADSB setup, those are fun.
