beautiful gospel ,thank you so much for your time and effort to spread the word of God. I remember when we were younger being told that the genealogy narrative was about the leadership time line . the Jews were governed by three different types of leadership during each block of time . the Jews believed that every 14 generations a new epoch of time would begin , that was why Mathew leaves out certain names of kings who reigned , he was setting out the fourteen generations to signal the new epoch of time , the time of the messiah had arrived. we look to St Luke 's gospel , after three failed missions , god sends his son . [lk 20;9-18]

Talking about Jesus's genealogy, in Hebrew 14 is the number of Deliverance and 3 is the number of Perfection, so for me it mean that with Jesus we have Perfect Deliverance.

i think the 14 is to show he is of King David personally, the reason why is because Matthew purposefully list David as the 14th person in the genealogy. so it seems to me Matthew is trying to allude to Jesus being a descendent of David by repeating it multiple time to stress the point.

As I stated in the first video of the Gospel of Matthew, I am stating, again, of my disappointment of the error-filled teaching. The teacher professed the Jewish people did NOT know or even sure of the descendants of King David, peace be upon him, at the time of Zerubbabel, beginning at 13:20.
"When you get to Zerubbabel, in (Matthew) verse 13 on, we are speaking about people that are not mentioned in the scriptures. As far as the they (Jewish people) knew, the line of David have been cut off. They started to call it the Stump of Jesse." Please note the 1 Chronicles 3 is a whole chapter dedicated to King David's progeny.

of course the paradox with the geneology is that Jesus was NOT the son of Joseph (even if the stepson who inherited as such all legal rights of a real son). This paradox must surely be fundamental to the geneology, part of the 'odor' of something important here (sry: idk excatly what either). I take the perpetual viriginity of Mary to be a mystery (more paradoxes: i thrive on the paradoxes! for me they always have an 'odor' of something important and not to be diminsihed or explained away), and not to be taken in a simple did she/ did she not opposition - i hope by this i do not fall outside of dogma: yes she is the pereptual virgin...Jesus is above any geneology (back to the paradox of the 1st chapter), 'you are my brothers and sisters' etc, when he says to John here is your mother etc (whether there are other 'actual' brothers at this point is irrelevant - or not irrelavent, but there is something greater than any merely genealogical relation going on here). the mothership here is in the name of the holy spirit, a rebirth etc.

Great point! The Davidic Lineage Promise mentioned in 2 Samuel vii.12 states, "When your days are finished and you shall lie with your forefathers, then I will raise up your seed that shall proceed from your body after you, and I will establish his kingdom." From the seed (plural, not singular, form in Hebrew) of King David's body is promised and prophesied as there is NO adoption being discussed here.
