Thank you for all that info. You definitely have the experience to give a balanced perspective. I have a couple of questions. Do you agree with this review that the AKG system isn't that great? It's really important to me that I can crank up some rock 'n roll and that it sounds good. Do you feel like the Cadillacs are expensive to maintain? I'm vacillating between the Lyriq and a used MB EQS, which I can get for half the cost of what they sold new. I feel like the MB Burmester would be far better for listening to tunes and some aspects, like the climate control would be better but I'm concerned about the maintenance and insurance cost of a MB. This is a car I will keep for a very long time.

Lacks the S-class road presence as well.
I've spent a lot of time in a friend's Lyriq, and it's just really impressive. Solid, quiet and beautiful inside and out. The air conditioning is a bit weak, particularly in the 2nd row, but that's supposedly being improved for 2025.
Went for the test drive and loved it however for us it doesn't seem value for money and more importantly the trunk space is very small. However if one can get a good deal, it is a very good electric car. Edit - Called another dealer and was able to get an excellent 36 months lease deal on the AWD Sport model. Bought it today and will arrive home on Friday in Nimbus Metallic. Super excited for it. The lease price came out to be cheaper than Tesla Model Y for performance model.
Your content quality is impeccable. I found this to be informative, coming from a LYRIQ owner of 18 months. Thank you for the video. I enjoyed watching
Same story here. Wanted a LYRIQ, but got a Blazer EV because the lease was too cheap to pass up. I’ll probably get a Blazer EV SS or OPTIQ next once my 2yr lease is up.
What I would really like to see is that any BEV that has a 100 kWh or greater battery size has a 80Amp charger in the vehicle. I’m really glad that GM is smart enough to have worked that out however, Tesla Rivian and many other manufacturers are still only putting in 40 to 50 amp on board chargers why I mention this is that many electricity providers only give you a 5 to 6 hour discounted electricity rate, I would be really happy if you would mention this to other EV manufacturers as it would only be I’m sure a very small cost for them, however, it would save consumers considerable money over the lifetime of ownership charging at 80 A versus 40 to 50 at home
I took delivery of my 2024 Cadillac lyric sport two days ago and I couldn’t be happier. Fingers crossed this is more reliable than my BEV2 platform Chevrolet Bolt EUV.
@@acsmoothing2262 Had to replace the onboard charger, replace the charging receptacle, issues with broken wires in the steering column.. all within one year of ownership
I saw a Lyriq driving down the road the other day and it’s one of those cars that is much more impressive in person. I wish the Blazer came with a little more horsepower without going all the way to an SS. The AWD Lyriq comes with more horsepower than you need, and that’s what I’m looking for. I don’t want adequate.
I think I’d take a wiper and a mirror too over the camera too. I find the camera mirrors to be hard on my eyes and I it looks like the same camera mirror that’s in the blazer which I think is too small.
I really like the Ultium platform. But GM does things that make me unhappy. First is this silly thing of removing the Apple CarPlay. For me that is a disaster. I was injured by being run over by a car. And I really can’t drive a vehicle without CarPlay. It allows me to let the computers do a lot of the work of driving. Part of my injury is that I have some brain damage. And that assistance is very important for me. Also I can’t get a Lryiq because of another injury that I have. I can’t get into vehicles that are not tall. I am 6’2 so I am tall. And now I can’t bend over to get in a short vehicle. I tried a lyric at my Cadillac dealer. My head smashes into the roof. The Cadillac that I want is the Escalade IQ. But I have to get past the high price, and of course it doesn’t have CarPlay. I can fix the CarPlay problem I think. I am sure that one of us who are working on getting CarPlay back into these vehicles will find a way to do it. But I think that with my very standard conditions I will have to be patient to find the right answer for me. Because my needs are different from everyone else.
There is a lot I like about the Lyriq but I don't need such a large vehicle, so I am eager to check out the new Optiq in person. I really like the Equinox EV but the Optiq is not that much more expensive and you get a lot more standard features. They most likely dropped the base Lyriq to make more space between it and the Optiq.
I have a BMW i4 and now in the market for an SUV EV for our second car. Lyriq is definitely on the list, but so is the iX. I have come to really enjoy BMW’s EV implementation. I would also consider the ZDX. The Audi is very nice, but honestly Audi’s dealer network is terrible - makes me feel like I need a shower every time I leave an Audi dealership. The Model X is interesting, but the rear doors are unnecessary novelties that are, as far as I can tell, far more prone to trouble than any other rear doors in any other vehicle sold in North America. Tesla’s are also (again, my one taste bias here) not nearly as luxurious as their price tags would suggest. I love driving an EV but gimmicks don’t really do it for me. Genesis is also a very interesting alternative but, even with very fast charging, it needs a bit more range to make me feel better on my drives from North Carolina to Chicago. Thanks for the review and quasi-comparo.
The reason everyone keeps pushing and pulling that lower center panel is because in the owners manual, it tells you that there is storage in that area below the jewel drawer. I saw during the pre-production videos and the press was told that by the time the car was in production there would be storage in that area.
I test drove every Lyriq trim level and am leaning towards purchasing the Lyriq Sport 3, mainly because I prefer the appearance with the black 22" wheels. Maybe it’s just me, but the AKG studio sound system on the Level 3 trim, despite being the same one found on Lyriq Sport/Luxury 2, sounds better. The audio feels punchier, fuller, and not as flat as on the Level 2 trim using the same equalizer settings. Maybe the Level 3 has a better amp, not sure. I also found the standard seats are less comfortable than the upgraded Napa leather ones, they contour my body better. Additionally, I drove a 2025 model which feel torquier. I have driven Mercedes Benz EQE 350/500, EQS 450/580, Audi etron 40-55, BMW iX 50-60, Testa Model Y Long Range and Performance, as well the Kia's EV6, EV9 and Hyundai ioniq 5. If you able to score a great deal/lease on a 2024 model, then in my opinion you have one of the best values in the 60-80K EV SUV segment.
I think he addressed that in his review. The GV 70 has less range but can charge much more quickly than the Lyriq so theoretically it might take less time overall when road tripping with a GV70. As a Lyriq owner myself, I think it’s a fair point to make. But with my experience, public DC fast charging is still very much a mixed bag. Some chargers are broken or malfunctioning for some reason. Sometimes all the chargers at the station might be full. Maybe only level 2 chargers are available. With a public charging network that is not entirely reliable at this point, I’d rather have a larger battery (like on the Lyriq) than a battery that can charge more quickly (like the GV70).
This vehicle would be perfect, at this price point, if the Lyriq had a HUD and Sentry-type features that leverages its existing cameras. It's a great looking vehicle.
My dad’s Caddy(s) went to the shop often. I only hope these EV Caddy do not explode in peoples garage. There is no comparison to a Tesla, GM (China motors) is ages in rear.
Lots to like, though I don't like shiny flattish areas on a steering wheel. Not just because of the fingerprints and scratches, but also glare when the sun is at certain angles or even night driving. It's one thing for piano black to be in the centre console which is further from your field of view when looking at the road, it's another when it's right in front of you.
As far as being the last Ultium chassis with CarPlay, don’t rule out the Honda Prologue. I have a 2024 Prologue with CarPlay and Honda has no plans on scrapping CarPlay on the Prologue Ultium chassis. Provided they even plan to make a 2025 Prologue.
Man, I just hate the rear end. Just changing the lights a little might help. Like, instead of every light blinking when turning, how about having separate amber turn indicators. Brake lights down and the turn indicators up top.
I agree. I don't know why GM is so hell bent on using RED for their brake lights and turn signals. Wish they would use Amber lighting for signals which is proven to be safer.
Issue I had with the test drive is the center vent does not blow air high enough. Could only get it to my midsection and being in Florida when getting into a vehicle the 1st thing I do is aim cold air at my face, no-can-do in this vehicle, and took forever to cool down. (dealership was a whole other experience-not good but too long to go into)
Went and looked at a Lyriq on Friday. Didn't test drive (didn't have time), but sat in it and poked around. I like the styling and like the AAOS infotainment, and it's plenty roomy inside. However, a few things I didn't like are the wheel/tire combo and the front seats. The wheel/tire combo even on the Sport 3, which is what we would get, has too tall of a tire. That much sidewall just looks dated or cheap. And I get it, they probably went that route to add to a softer ride. But on the Sport 3, I'd expect a slightly stiffer ride that might come from a thinner sidewall. Or at least offer a sportier combo as a standalone option. The front seats, as you noted, are far too shallow. Like the most shallow I've ever been in for a modern car. It's made worse by the limited upward articulation. But yeah, it desperately needs a thigh extension at the very least. The price though....is VERY good for what you get. We have an order in for a Polestar 4, though have been thinking of changing that to a Polestar 3. Both of those have much better seating, and more of a sport oriented ride, but they also have a higher price tag, and are plagued with delays.
Great points and comparison to Polestar 4. Not too many cross shopping. The ACURA ZDX is also something to consider but lack of proper lane centering for $65k is just too much...
@@nonej8304 the ZDX styling just doesn't do anything for me, and the interior, like that of the Prologue looks dated. Honda/Acura interiors, even with new tech available to them, appear as if they're frozen in time circa 2005-2010.
Hi Alex - yes I am a subscriber! A review that is needed but missing - Cadillac Lyriq vs Honda Prologue. Why? So you have the money to buy what you want, but, in today's more dangerous world you want a Cadillac without it being a Cadillac (or BMW, Accura, other fancy car). You can get the Cadillac in a Honda form - sorry, the Honda just isn't flashy - and that's a good thing, it fits into a daily plain driver category - no offense. So how much of the Cadillac ride, quietness, ease of use is in the Prologue?
I love that the Acura ZDX is so similar to this, but without a lot of the gimmicks, like how the ZDX has regular door handles. Also, I find the emerging trend of offering different tunes/power profiles at an upcharge to be extremely anti-consumer. If there was a mechanical difference, I would understand, but "pay extra to unlock more power that your hardware already supports" rings very much like BMW's heated seat subscription. Multiple manufacturers have done this now, the first I know of was a Mercedes and GM doing it for Colorado, Tesla putting the same battery but only unlocking the full capacity with an upcharge ...
Already scratching on the shiny black surface? I’m not an engineer or designer but I could have predicted that. This will put a distraction on the otherwise beautiful interior.
19:30 Maybe people should just learn more about the vehicle they’re driving instead of it being always the manufacturer that has to always change something when the customer doesn’t know about it. 🤷🏽♂️
Nice looking vehicle when I cover that ugly useless sloping rear. You can't sell me an SUV with utility and rear view significantly compromised by styling. When is the VISTIQ coming? Lyriq's sloping rear is a very disappointing and annoying deal breaker. Thank you for reviewing?
Lyriq has great proportions and a nice silhouette, but I just think it’s got way too much going on both in terms of overall design and in many of the details for me to truly love it. I find the rear end/taillights to be a huge turnoff - and that’s coming from a GM/Cadillac fan and a current Cadillac owner. As for the interior, I’ve found that it looks nice but that switches and knobs tend to feel disappointingly cheap.
I like that its different, but it's not different enough. It could've pulled off a rear sliding door pretty well, but I guess sloping roofs and longer wheelbases/longer doors are a nail in the coffin for ever having that. Designers should be working around packaging and engineering, not the other way around. Seeing that carry-on bag awkwardly try to fit under floor and lack of a frunk, on every newly constructed model, is such a let down.
Returned my '24 Lyriq to GM after arguing for months and winning finally in arbitration. It has some serious phantom breaking issues, neglected software, and in my case my battery broke with a high voltage system error. I don't recommend them.
Today I learned that I watch too many EV reviews when I saw the $59990 starting price and actually said "hmmm....that's not bad." 😂 I think I am more in the Equinox EV customer base if I want to upgrade to my Bolt EUV which is my favorite car of all time despite its DC fast charge limitations. That said, GM might come out with some competitive lease deals on the Optiq.
Looks like a useless car for me.. Let me explain: expensive, no frunk, big but non-ergonomic cabin, small trunk, buggy charging port door (yes, just try to open it), uncomfortable seats (especially front) If you spend so much money - you can buy some nice German car. But the only pros is relatively good building quality for an american car. (of course with chinese components)
Considering Tesla is led by a right wing nut job, there is nothing they can make that I would be willing to buy, and judging by their sales numbers millions of Americans feel the same way. For my money, I would get the Acura with the air suspension.
Lyriq is just ugly from behind the rear doors. It also had a surprising amount of hard plastics inside to include some that look nice but are still hard plastic. The lack of frunk in these ultium models is just lazy, or I should say bean counter GM. We actually liked the Blazer styling better and the choice of red interior on the Blazer looked great. Only points in favor of the Lyriq was Carplay but the dealer hinted it would be gone soon. Oh, piano black needs to die. You should have sat in back and checked trim The next generation model Y will likely be beyond this Caddy across the board.
Mind you I’m a 69-year-old white guy, but these look like old white guy cars to me. Give me a Hyundai Inster any day for fun or several at this price..

I was excited for the EQS until I drove it. Nice car, drives OK, but too small and cramped compared to an S-class. Lacks the S-class road presence as well.
This video made up my decision to go to Cadillac dealer overseas. It is really helpful every comments, in-depth review and comparisons. 👍👍👍
That panel you talked about in the review is actually another storage bin. GM seals that one for US but in China it's open and usable.
I've spent a lot of time in a friend's Lyriq, and it's just really impressive. Solid, quiet and beautiful inside and out. The air conditioning is a bit weak, particularly in the 2nd row, but that's supposedly being improved for 2025.
Alex, I like wagons too but will bide my time before I join the chorus singing the Lyriq's praises. 😉
My favorite Cadillac EV's & I should buy this.
I’m so old that I can remember when saying something was ‘the Cadillac of’ some category was a compliment.
No one says, "the Lexus" of the category today.
@@normt430
It’s an outmoded, antique expression. Cadillac, that is.
Lexus was a disruptor. Now, not so much.
@@Area_man115 I've had a few Cadillac's this past two decades. Lexus doesn't even compare for me.
@@normt430 Cadillac’s what?
Same story here. Wanted a LYRIQ, but got a Blazer EV because the lease was too cheap to pass up. I’ll probably get a Blazer EV SS or OPTIQ next once my 2yr lease is up.
The Lyriq's backend is one of the most distinctive on the road. Literally can not be confused with anything else.
Thank you for the very informative video! I love my 2024 Luxury 3!
I love my Lyriq super quiet and smooth... Please don't change it
For sound performance activate surround.. mine sounds just perfect!
I took delivery of my 2024 Cadillac lyric sport two days ago and I couldn’t be happier. Fingers crossed this is more reliable than my BEV2 platform Chevrolet Bolt EUV.

Alex is the best automotive journalist in the business bar none!!!
I am waiting on the Optiq too. I wonder when they will start production?
I have a 2024 Lyriq and wondered why that area was NOT functional storage. Seems like a missed opportunity.
GV70 range is a no go. You'll realize how ridicilous 236 mile range is in a couple of years.. just like those leafs that could only do 80m
Thanks, would love to see you do a video on the Optiq to compare when it comes out!
My dad’s Caddy(s) went to the shop often. I only hope these EV Caddy do not explode in peoples garage. There is no comparison to a Tesla, GM (China motors) is ages in rear.
Alex said: base model doesn't offer adaptive cruise control. How can this happen in a luxury brand?
Wow… The Cadillac is much more impressive than I expected. But you just sold me on the GV70 even with the lousy range.
Literally the only Cadillac I'd consider buying
As far as being the last Ultium chassis with CarPlay, don’t rule out the Honda Prologue. I have a 2024 Prologue with CarPlay and Honda has no plans on scrapping CarPlay on the Prologue Ultium chassis. Provided they even plan to make a 2025 Prologue.
Why are all these electric vehicles getting rid of Apple CarPlay. That makes absolutely no sense.
(dealership was a whole other experience-not good but too long to go into)
This would even sell in Europe.
I would go for the Lyriq all the way for an EV Luxury vehicle.
Cadillac of EVs? I’m pretty sure that’s a Cadillac, and indeed of EVs.
I’m still waiting on the Optiq, any news yet?
Seems like it's still on track for being on sale in December
The Lyriq subreddit on Reddit is not all roses and rainbows.
Then again, nothing is on Reddit.
It's a nice looking Cadillac
Cadillac is discounting heavily on the Lyriq, if you like you can get a deal on it new. Better yet buy a slightly used one for massive discounts.
GM usually allows you to fully open the roof with a second tap of the opening switch, but yah it will be noisy
Strange, he didn’t go over luggage/boot space at all, something which is fairly important reason to buy a cross over.
0:34 Headrests have 👀👀
Went and looked at a Lyriq on Friday.
Doesn’t remind me of a station wagon, but more of a shooting brake design.
Never a Tesla of course but I am waiting to see how the Lyriq compares to the upcoming Audi Q6.

Travis should have pitched in! 😂
Beautiful car but I have "just" enough room to open my door in the garage when a Tesla Model Y so I'm thinking 4" wider could be an issue.
It's Like Škoda with Name Škoda Karoq, Kodiaq, Enyaq
For GM vehicles please list more details about pack - how many modules, nominal and maximum pack voltage, 10-80 charge time at DCFC.
@@barryw9473 other reviews have commented on low voltage when Ultium fast charging.
@@genericreference6969 so what? I am asking this channel to include important information.
Already scratching on the shiny black surface? I’m not an engineer or designer but I could have predicted that. This will put a distraction on the otherwise beautiful interior.
After seeing one on the road, it looks nice but it's too big in my opinion and I don't like the low profile styling. I'd rather have an EV XT4.
Looks like hearse in person
Tesla doesn’t compete in this segment, they have no place in the comparisons.
I’m curious - why do Chevy and Cadillac each have Ultium models, but not Buick?
I’m not sure but some Buicks are built in China.
".........and the upcoming Sollei convertible." Giving away some inside information? 😉😊
Check out our video on it, it’s pretty obvious it’s destined for production

Returned my '24 Lyriq to GM after arguing for months and winning finally in arbitration. It has some serious phantom breaking issues, neglected software, and in my case my battery broke with a high voltage system error. I don't recommend them.
I much prefer zdx design and both manufacturers would do better with hybrid version
@@meandmyEV Im waiting to see the new Bolt before making any decisions :)
Helluva car if it had the Blackwing V8 under the hood
That design packaging inside, trunk and front end compartment kind of sucks. That's especially considering the price and the seats are a giant meh.
Lyriq depreciates pretty quickly. You can find one with just a few K miles for a big discount!
All evs depreciate quickly. You have to take into account the $7500 tax credit lowers the new price.
It would look much better, and in better proportion, if the wheels were a size or two smaller. They look like low-riders from backnin the day
69 decibels? Is that correct. that seems very loud.
I like the Lyriq, except for the ugly gloss black plastic!
The seats look like they were pulled from a 2011 Malibu. Ugh
Nobody uses their Frunk.
Dash looks like a knee knocker for tall folks.
I am 6 foot six tall. My knees don’t touch the dashboard and I’m very comfortable.
I own a 2024LYRIQ.
Chinese RWD Lyriq has a Frunk.
Front seat 6 out of 10. This is the worst front seat rating I've ever seen.
Taste is subjective. To me, everything about the Lyriq from the D-pillar back is absolutely hideous. Form following function, poorly expressed.
is there a gm ev is not an 'ultium'? .. if not its just stupid branding
Last gen Bolt was not Ultium. But all current gen GM vehicles are Ultium, and there are different Ultium platforms.
I don't think it's stupid branding, given that other brands cars have ultium platforms
Considering Tesla is led by a right wing nut job, there is nothing they can make that I would be willing to buy, and judging by their sales numbers millions of Americans feel the same way. For my money, I would get the Acura with the air suspension.
The insurance on EVs is triple that of comparable ICE vehicles. So, nope.
Odd, it was the same between the lyric and my ats.
Meh…
Lyriq is just ugly from behind the rear doors. It also had a surprising amount of hard plastics inside to include some that look nice but are still hard plastic. The lack of frunk in these ultium models is just lazy, or I should say bean counter GM. We actually liked the Blazer styling better and the choice of red interior on the Blazer looked great. Only points in favor of the Lyriq was Carplay but the dealer hinted it would be gone soon. Oh, piano black needs to die. You should have sat in back and checked trim
The next generation model Y will likely be beyond this Caddy across the board.
Mind you I’m a 69-year-old white guy, but these look like old white guy cars to me. Give me a Hyundai Inster any day for fun or several at this price..
5800 pounds...yikes 😬
