  • Jeffrey Mishlove engages in a conversation with himself about conditions in the early stages of the afterlife. He makes the point that the available research strongly suggests the influence of cultural conditioning. Our expectations play an enormous role on what is experienced. He describes the work of rescue circles and the controversy as to whether these are necessary. He also discusses differences in afterlife reports between western and Asian reincarnation cases.
New Thinking Allowed host, Jeffrey Mishlove, PhD, is author of The Roots of Consciousness, Psi Development Systems, and The PK Man. Between 1986 and 2002 he hosted and co-produced the original Thinking Allowed public television series. He is the recipient of the only doctoral diploma in "parapsychology" ever awarded by an accredited university (University of California, Berkeley, 1980).

Based on my studies of Jung and his Memories,Dreams and Reflections he tells the story of a dream visitation from his father who asked him for help dealing with Jung's mother who was close to death. Jung intimates that people in the afterlife only know what they knew when they died. To me, this is a reason we reincarnate....to grow, evolve, learn and get the new information. In my visions of past lives there were a couple of giants. Makes me wonder if there truly was a race of giants.
Also, Walt Whitman in his poetic mandala, Chanting the Square Deific, he describes Satan as a rebel, brother of slaves, defiant, fighting against oppression,defiant.... interesting, I thought - certainly part of the human condition..

You know, all the teachings across the world which say to let go of material desires and be not of the the world, tend to suggest if one is spiritually in tune they don’t need to return to this world. Without a memory it seems a futile and burdensome experience to have. If we could remember, we could use knowledge from our past to improve greatly. But then why bother to return at all in physical form?

Check out Sarvapriyananda on RUclips. He's a teacher of advaita vedanta or nonduality in NYC. The philosophy comes from the Upanishads. He has many lectures. Advaita says that this world is a dream and our real nature is that of pure consciousness. Why we are here? Advaita says we are not here! It's all imagination! From the highest point of view there is no birth and no death, that we are free even now but our false identifications bind us! Also check out Nisargadatta Maharaj and his book I AM THAT, google has free PDF copy. Advaita vedanta paints a very clear picture of reality. Nisargadatta was amazing, get his book.

How long will the pain last? have you lost multiple family members (specially young ones)? The pain is unbearable and never goes away. The pain actually grows bigger each day. What kind of loving god does that to his children? If god does not understand this much, I won't call it god.

There's a steep question as to whether any of these afterlife conditions are collective states. It's a problem I've always had with Monroe's "locales" for instance. They don't supremely gel with NDEs, nor do they gel with other people or other systems unless they tend to go through the Monroe institute. It begins to look like they were idiosyncratic to Monroe, with his radio and engineering emphasis on vibrations, frequencies, electrical phenomena and so forth. I've never heard of any NDEr who travelled along power lines, who got "trapped" in the electromagnetic field of a room, or who had "electrical sex" with other beings around the hospital bed.
When someone encounters someone they assume to be their father "hiding" from guides in case he has to go to Hell, I am more inclined to interpret that whole theater as taking place in the space of the experiencer, including the concepts of "spaces" and "guides." I say it's a steep question, because if there is no collective world there, then there may not be a collective world here either, however heavily it appears to us as if there must be one.
NDEs seem to be all about the dying individual. Groups, communities, cities, etc are always gestural only. They are never observed to actually be doing anything. What do people get up to in these supposed afterlife communities? It seems to me more as if consciousness is a kind of "Solition" - there may not be multiple spaces or instances of it. In other words, wherever it perceives itself to be is the only "where" that is. If that is so, then it would mean you can't have multiple instances (contra Kastrup) so if you are experiencing a state and a place as consciousness, then like atomic orbitals, this automatically excludes consciousness from functioning in or "as" any other being, state, or place, while you are active. Not sure if I've made that clear, but in my mind's eye, at least, I know what I mean.

    • @moonrock5324

I had an NDE in Pttsburgh in 2018, and i recall energy, auras were rising into the sky. The entire sky was filled with clouds, but the clouds were also very bright, even blinding. I could also see into houses, around corners and see cars/buses/trucks moving in real time on the bridges and highways. I saw my body being stretched out of a bus from 2500 ft up or even higher. I had a female and male guide (I think the male guide was my late grandfather who passed in 2004). I think you are very on point with your inquiry. Final point would be on "electrical sex" or "getting sucked into power lines": going into "bliss/rapture" from the "white light" is what i experienced. You can see the fields around the transformers too. The more you look into the light, the more you lose memory and forget your bodily duty. The more the pleasure makes you want to divorce your soul from your body and die. After flying around southside blowing my own mind, I ended up wrapped in white light and surrounded by it on my back moving closer to the light. The two guides in white light sat next to me and spoke telepathically. soon after a bunch of light disappeared and im back to flying right above and immediately catch the ambulance my body was in, right as that happens the white light stars refracting to the colors of Pittsburgh and the colors form a funnel that I spiral down, I'm barreling towards the amubulance and right when im there, I see black, I squeeze my eyes like in a bad dream and I fly up in my body in the ambulance. Sorry for the rambling. Maybe this was informative or at least entertaining. Thanks

Yeah I agree with your points. I've had a brief experience with things similar to what you call "soul rescue" (some inspired a couple of my videos), and as I'm sure you have noticed, it does bring the question as to why higher beings would allow these souls to be left stranded into their own "hell". Well, I'm sure you know there isn't a single answer to why as there's so many different exceptions, but generally speaking, every experience is valid. Can we judge that the world created by a soul is really not what's best for that soul? Why should we "save" someone from their own "hell" when they haven't asked for help and don't want to be saved? If they think they are living on a materialistic "heaven", who are us to judge that they are not? What rights do we have to stop their own free will to live in the world they want to live? What will they learn if we prevent them from having that experience? Is the drowning man ready to be saved or saving him will just make him drown again tomorrow? We are all searching for something, and maybe the "hell" that someone is living is an important part of the path for that person to find what's being searched. 🙂

    • @ReedysTunes

I feel like that something we all search for is our soulmate. We all only have one which is actually divided amongst you and your other half who is another person... .5 or half of a soul are we which gave new meaning to the yin yang theory for me. Nothing is whole save our Creator. The last time any of us were whole was when we were a concept in God's eyes prior to being incarnated at which time we are divided like all things are prior to entering this reality. but thats just me. I really liked your comment :)

My mom passed in 2005. I was her caregiver. She would be semi conscious
And say it's so Beautiful or just say wow!
The week after she passed i woke up in the middle of the night with the scent of roses ( her favorite). One morning i woke up laughing. I kid you not...i knew we had been together.

I have my own little story about the afterlife, but I rather keep it to myself. People might not like it. All I can say is that is nothing like people think it is. People need to stop labeling things and start from scratch like a new born baby. We go back to being a new born baby without labeling things and words. Words are just part of our 3D condition. All you need to know is that there is no time in the afterlife and go from there. Everything is just in a state of constant 'now'. For some on the earth it seems like real death. That's why is the unknown.

how to explain the increasing population on this planet? Either people are reincarnating more and more frequently whereas before they stayed in the "astral" for much longer between incarnations, OR it's not simply that we have a life on earth, die and immediately have another life on earth, over and over. If there are many planets, many dimensions that one can "incarnate" in, then most souls are not on earth even right now with the great numbers that are here, but perhaps because of the accelerating development on this planet more and more souls are choosing to come here to get interesting experiences.

In the spirit realm, we need not food but love, the intake of love, in order to grow, and I don't mean physically. Love will not enter where fear already exists. So when ya say God is everywhere, essentially, God's sublime presence is, yes, but God's person/personality is not. For example... there are two ppl. One wants to befriend me and one doesn't. Do I force the one who doesn't want to be my friend to be my friend? Of course not. Neither will God. I'm always ready to be your friend or in essence, in your presence.

Do we really understand what life IS here in the sphere of the so-called living? If we don't we expand our not-knowing but proclaiming we do into the so called "after life". It would serve us better to be silent and humble in the face of the mystery. At least we should go "meta" and admit that we don't know, plus examine our respective motives for why we need to know and why we follow the illusion that we indeed do know.

Dr. Mishlove, do you watch the paranormal video channels? Slapped Ham, Nukes top 5, etc. There are some Russian ones out there, Dark Paranormal, and Tim Morozov, that if they aren't faked are quite interesting. The Russians attempt to make contact, Tim tries to shoot them with a shotgun loaded with salt. In one episode he placed the shotgun down, the barrel pointing at himself, during an EVP session he was told that whatever it was that was there wanted him to stay there. The triggers were pulled on the shotgun, and as the video would have us believe, lucky for Tim the gun was empty. Then there's Xiaolong's outdoor adventure. This young Chinese man goes to haunted areas and curses the ghosts in between his terrified screams. He went to an abandoned school, said to be haunted by a young girl that died there, she sings and plays an organ. He hears her, follows the singing to her floor and room, and there is this old dusty organ with the foot pedals moving. She's quite benign until finally Xiao Long ( it means little dragon in mandarin) threatens to destroy the organ. The room suddenly fills with fog and you can see the silhouette of a girl in the mist. Xiao Long flees screaming while all sorts of furniture move to block his way as he rushes down the stairs. Personally, if I found myself lost in the afterlife, I'd seek out the homes of the ultra rich, and not the run down hovels that are featured in many of these videos. It makes me wonder how they see this world from their side. Also watching these videos, the shadows peek around the corner, which can lead one to think it's fake, or they have to manifest in order to see clearly. It would appear that they are not equal in their world and they have different limitations.

It's not very often you hear of an NDE from Asia, for example, having experienced Jesus, for example. why is that? Just like Jeffery said... you're conditioned. Hell is simply the Divine School of Correction. :)

No one KNOWS what will happen after death - if anything happens at all. Which ofc shows itself in the many vastly divergent theories about it - apparently all convinced that they have the truth.

I think that the afterlife is completely different than what people say. Yes, I do think that there are different stages. We can only guess.

If you've spent most of your life under false beliefs, guess what your condition is when you pass? All must be corrected. Will be corrected. "Shalt" Eventually! Thou shalt not worship any other God... eventually. Wanna know why? Cuz there is no other God! How long is it gonna take for you to figure that out? As long as you want. God is eternal and so are you. :)

Maybe you're beliefs are false. There were many groups of christians in the earliest beginnings of it. Some believed in two gods, some in 15, there was a group that believed in one god they considered evil and ruled the world. I have read the bible. I find it depressing. I don't worship any god. Men wrote the bible to serve men, and men only.

There's no such thing as God in the afterlife. Labels and words are just worthless. It's part of our 3D condition.

I will never agree with reincarnation after my studies of 1. It's one of the oldest sins on the planet imo. Sin meaning it's less than perfect. Perfect meaning God's Truth. Nothing has ever been created twice, including ones existence. The sin is not being recreated, which doesn't happen anyway, but rather it's not allowing the thing who the spirit possesses to be it's own entity. Instead it/he/she is occupied, sometimes for the victims entire life, denying the individual it's own unique individual self. You see?

    • @stevefreier2156

Why would reincarnation be a sin? It's all for the experience! God wants the experience or He/She/It would not have created humans to have such a variety of experiences in the first place! My understanding is that we choose whether or not to have an incarnation as a human animal as well as how often. We choose our parents, our community, as well as significant life nexus points from which we draw wisdom from making choices. And it all goes back to God. These ideas have been verified in hundreds of books over the past hundred or so years.
