    Label it Kanagawa. It's not Tokyo. I was wondering what kind of sorcery u had to be doing to have a 80k yen 2 bedroom in Tokyo in a building that looks relatively new.

    Loved your apartment video. Very informational and nicely done. Having so much natural light in your apartment I think makes for a very soothing and peaceful environment. It's great to actually see a real apartment in Japan and not just professionally done rental photos that do not provide you a real sense of the space. Hope to see more videos of your experiences in and around Japan. Great work!

    Hi Augie!
    I love your video as it is very informational and you deliver it well. It is amazing to see the way you decorate your apartment as it seems very cosy and feels so homely. It is also interesting to see how you managed to get almost all items in your house from Amazon 😊

    In our military housing in Kanagawa we have the same metal counters in our kitchen, same tile walls in our kitchen, same toilet paper holder, same towel holder, and the same medicine cabinet as you.
    If you don’t like your chair Nitori and IKEA deliver.

    From all these sorts of videos online I've gotten the idea that general utility bills in Japan are few and far more reasonable than they are here in London. Often in cities, studio and 1 bed flats can be just about manageable for single people with low salaries but it'll be the bills and taxes that make living alone impossible for almost everybody in England. Such a shame. Basic safe and well maintained housing should be completely affordable in all developed countries (including household utilities). Living alone shouldn't be impossible for people. Thank you for showing me your home and being so generous and informative. Hope you have a super 2024, wherever you end up.

      @@AugieG Oh my! That's so interesting. One last comment to share: I suspect that the one video nobody on the planet will make a gonzo 'boots on the ground' video about is how many people are staying in highly toxic, unhappy relationships with husbands/wives/parents because they cannot afford to move out and start a life on their own. It's a cheek-burning taboo which nobody really wants to explore. During my commute to work, I study all the faces I pass and my heart wrenches as I ask myself, 'which one of these people cannot leave?' The statistics would likely crush my soft heart like a tin can. Anyhow, forgive the tangential meandering here. (I can't help it; the older I get the more I think about finances, the impacts upon society of individual's psychological health and urban planning). PS= Your channel is great, keep up the excellent work. 😄

    Just started watching small apartments in Japan. What's the difference between your apartment for $600 & the other, smaller one I've seen for $900? You seem to have twice the space. Neighborhood? Nicely done!

    • @AugieG
      @AugieG  7 месяцев назад +2

      Hi @vickilindberg6336 thank you for the comment and sorry for the late reply. Basically, the price of the apartment can vary based on many factors: where it's located, the age, the direction it's facing, the website it's posted on, the facilities, the layout, and much more. Mostly, it's location and age. My apartment is 26 years old, so it's a bit on the older side, which probably is why it's cheaper. Also, it's located in Kanagawa, which might be cheaper than say, downtown Shibuya or something like that. For example, my 2DK top floor facing south apartment is ¥80,000 where I live, but it could be ¥200,000 - ¥300,000 for the same apartment if it's located in Roppongi or someplace close to downtown. For example. Hope this helps!

    Hello Augie, Happy holidays. I hope you had an enjoyable Christmas and New Years Eve and are doing well. I just discovered your RUclips channel. I guess you popped up on my laptop because I follow a number of people who live in Japan. There is a gay couple I follow that just moved to Tokyo. One is Anglo and he has a job and the other is Japanese without a job at the moment. Also they have 2 cats. With that mix you can imagine the difficulty they had in getting an apartment. Did you experience a lot of issues because you are a foreigner?

    • @AugieG
      @AugieG  8 месяцев назад +1

      @wehojm7320 Hi! Thank you for the comment! You seem like an honest guy, so I'll give you an honest answer. I can imagine the struggle they must have yes. As for me, I didn't have any problems. This was probably due to the fact that I am fluent in Japanese (speaking, reading, and writing) to a very high level. This made the whole process a LOT more easy as they didn't speak any English. However, if a foreigner does NOT speak, read and write Japanese at a high level where you can understand the contract and the processes of apartments, it will be almost impossible for them to get an apartment here that is not an apartment from a gaijin website like apartments.gaijinpot.com or something. Unless they have an interpreter with them. As mentioned in the video, I used Life Homes, which is a Japanese only website and I was handled by a Japanese company (no foreigners involved, no English). I also had to pass the screening by the apartment owner BECAUSE I am a foreigner, regardless if I am a native Japanese speaking. Being a foreigner automatically forces me to go through this process. But my landlords are a very nice old couple and they accepted me as a tenant right away. Unfortunately, there are many cases where foreigners are rejected. This is mostly due to either the history of foreigners in Japan that get an apartment and just dip out right away without paying, but mostly because they cannot speak Japanese. Sorry this got long, but to answer your question, no, I did not have any issues. Hope this helps!

    Hi AugieG ! Do you have any other recommended and proven websites for renting apartments in Japan?

    • @AugieG
      @AugieG  8 месяцев назад +1

      Hi @TheAliceCafe ! Thanks for the question. The three I mentioned in the video are great resources. SUUMO (suumo.jp/sp/), Life Homes (the one I used to get my apartment) www.homes.co.jp/), and Chintai (sp.chintai.net), but other than these, At Home (www.athome.co.jp) is another great one. And if you want one that is very foreigner friendly and has English support, I’d suggest gaijinpot apartments (apartments.gaijinpot.com), but they tend to be way more expensive cause they can mark up because of the English services. Hope this helps! Also for some reason the links go to a page that doesn’t exist but just hit their websites logo on the top to go to the home pages. :)

    I just stumbled upon your channel and enjoy watching it I was wondering why don't you get an extension rod to put in your closet in your bathroom so you can hang your clothes inside that closet and not on a towel rack .

      Thanks for coming by! I actually did buy a rod and put it up but the clothes kept falling down. I think there’s not really a good place to place a rod there. Not enough support. But thanks for the comment!
