I just bought a YZ250 yesterday for trails. Rode the thing today and I love the thing. Not to mention it was my first time every riding a 2 stroke. Popping wheelies in 3rd with just throttle. If you go fast enough the smoke should not be an issue. ;)
This is fucking AMAZING!! Nothing could beat it, not even the inline-4 bikes could hang.. mind blowing! That CR500 weighs about 230 pounds with a tuned engine probably putting out 70hp. Those other bikes weigh about 350-400 pounds with those big inline 4's and have about 150hp. It shows that brawn doesnt always win, GO HONDA!
jonathan mackey Oh they did, but they got discontinued just like cr 500. I know first bike for a fact is a kx 500, the one at 1:11 may just be a newer version.
cr is the shit...hope they developed this engine soon like e-tec...4-stroke is for boyz ! i have a 190bhp suzuki grxr 1000r streetfighter but i like the raw of a 2 -stroke 500 ! snowmobile engines is on a track with the 2.stroke..why not the bikes ?
... 95% nitromethane, 3%methanol, 2% Maxima 927 castor....smells as great as it sounds! Vertex piston, t.i.g. welded crankpin, titanium rod, SwainTech ceramic coatings, and oversize cylinder/head studs and nuts keep it all together. Get about 10 runs before a teardown on these 2 strokes....
No, put in 2nd, leave in 2nd. The hill is a whole lot steeper than the camera angle shows, an upshift would bog the engine down so badly they'd end up running a 10:00 or more...
How about when he is taking off he is rideing the clutch duh if he would just dump the clutch would just spin like crazy or flip over and yes they will still flip over with a longer swing arm period.
i will agree with you there, the best hill climb bikes i usually see are 4 strokes and the baddest ive ever seen was harold waddell on a gsz-r. 2 strokes will always own freestyle but like tom said, hillclimbing, i think is better reserved for bikes with a shit ton of low end. i ride 2 strokers by the way
lt290r i go up hills all day long. i think its just what the rider prefers because some 4 stroke bikes do go faster than 2 stroke bikes and some 2 stroke bikes have crazy bottom end .
Yes. From the servicehonda--com website. They sell all different bikes. You can get a 2012 CR500AF for $11,999. So start saving your pennies. Also ONLY available in the US.
Can anybody tell me why the 2 strokes dont have the silencers? Dont they lose torque? Does it increase power? I ride a 1996 cr125 and wonder if i would gain or lose anything from doing that other than making everyone deaf😂
@xXDropD34DXx I didn't know there was a KX450R. I know of a KX450F though... and you kind of got things backwards assuming you were referring to the KX450F, I have talked to many riders who ride 450's and they simply will not ride a 500R because of the power. The 450 is a better track bike, but only because the last year for a 500 was 04 and many improvements have been made since then. Of course, if you can afford a Service Honda CR500, you'll beat the 450 everywhere. 450's are ok.
A 2 stroke will run forever if you mix gas properly, clean the air filter generously, and if you don't race it. Four strokes have more parts than 2 strokes, making them heavier, and harder to maintain. Basically, If you ain't mixing gas, you ain't hauling ass.
i'v always heard 2 stroke brake down a lot easier and your more likely to fix them a lot more then a 4 stroke now i myself never owned one so i really can't say but my dad has and my friends have them too and they work on there bikes way more then i work on mine and cost wise parts are about the same and i know this for a fact because i live right next to a honda store.
I'm going to point something out right fast. Put any pro rider on a PW50 and an average/expert rider on a CR500. Sorry, but the average dude would win. Your name is true and that's why I'm not bashing too hard. Not to mention I just bought myself a YZ250 yesterday.
notice the key word in your statement QUAD i'm definitely not saying quads are better in fact i think dirt bikes are a 100% better then a quad but it all depends on how big the engine is who makes it and so on and i'm not saying 2 strokes can't go up hills what so ever i'm just saying there not made for that type of abuse like climbing hills all day 2 strokes are built for speed and 4 strokes are built for torque and power.
A 500CC 2 Stroke VS A 250CC can't be classified as "almost the same". Yes it is more about luck and which path the rider takes, but the bike also has a big part in the speed department.
The only downfall is the smell of the exhaust. If you watch other videos of these bikes racing some people will be fanning the rider as he revs up the bike at the like. The fumes are obnoxious and I think they can harm you pretty good too.
its all rider that guy was a good hill climer he kept the tire in the ground as much as he could. the other bikes go so fast you end up jumpin up the hill lol
Anyone who don't have love for both two and 4 stroke bikes has never spent Quilty time with both two and 4 stroke bikes
Well said buddy
+electrodude5 thanks
I have had 2 bikes right now i have the second one 4t and i like both
I’ve spent a lot of time with both, and I still dislike four strokes
I've had both, the 4 str feel heavy.
Such and incredible bike Honda built. Glad i have one.
the riders skills plays the biggest part in a race like this ...
1:13 sounds like great impact wrench. :)

The green bike at 1:11. My god. Best sound ever.
I think its a kx 500, I could be wrong though.
I don't think Kawasaki makes 500s with more than one cylinder. But I could be wrong as well.
jonathan mackey Oh they did, but they got discontinued just like cr 500. I know first bike for a fact is a kx 500, the one at 1:11 may just be a newer version.
Bill Hoge Look at the exhaust, It's 4stroke not 2stroke.
Yeah
I raced the big bore two strokes many years in motocross pro /am n the power of them is violent .
The cr was a beast, no doubt... but that Kawa?! that thing was a monster.
0:57 is my favorite sounding bike
DO THEY HAVE HILL CLIMB EVENTS FOR PIT BIKES,,,,MY SSR 125CC PIT BIKE HILL CLIMBS LIKE A BEAST,,,,
@0.32 love the sound of this bike!
Im glad that everybody else thinks the Kawasaki at 1:13 is the most badass sound on the planet.
2 STROKES are the best machines !
It's cool to see all the different variations of bike's
cr is the shit...hope they developed this engine soon like e-tec...4-stroke is for boyz ! i have a 190bhp suzuki grxr 1000r streetfighter but i like the raw of a 2 -stroke 500 ! snowmobile engines is on a track with the 2.stroke..why not the bikes ?
0:32 and 1:37 both sound realllly nice!
notice how the 2 strokes times where a little faster, and they must do a rebuild after every run they do
Get about 10 runs before a teardown on these 2 strokes....
the kx had what looked like a gsxr or bandit motor shoe horned in to it.......nice.
its a 250 frame with 500 motor i have a 07 i absolutely love it
3,4 is CR500??
those CRs sound pretty good .
do they shift on there way up?
No, put in 2nd, leave in 2nd. The hill is a whole lot steeper than the camera angle shows, an upshift would bog the engine down so badly they'd end up running a 10:00 or more...
Why are they wearing roost deflectors when they are the only ones on the hill?
ya that last run on the cr500 was amazing. have you ever heard of Ryan Thibault from tiverton, RI? just wondering
That first harley sounds pretty good lol I still like the 2 strokes haha
what start gear?
2nd, stay in 2nd.
how does that run in a bike? there has to be a down fall to it...? what else has to be done to make it run nitro?
@ThisIsMotocross thats what Im saying.. and yeah I think 24tharcher is right, its a 750 triple
Long live the CR500AF
CR500
best sounding bike in the video!
those are some beast looking bikes
How about when he is taking off he is rideing the clutch duh if he would just dump the clutch would just spin like crazy or flip over and yes they will still flip over with a longer swing arm period.
How old are these guys because I heard my friends name
i will agree with you there, the best hill climb bikes i usually see are 4 strokes and the baddest ive ever seen was harold waddell on a gsz-r. 2 strokes will always own freestyle but like tom said, hillclimbing, i think is better reserved for bikes with a shit ton of low end. i ride 2 strokers by the way
Oh my GOD, the sound!!
lt290r i go up hills all day long. i think its just what the rider prefers because some 4 stroke bikes do go faster than 2 stroke bikes and some 2 stroke bikes have crazy bottom end .
@KTMrida4life im pretty sure none of those bikes were a 750 2 stroke. Theres a video of one on here somewheres If you want to see one.
@TheHondarider28 they start in 0.5, then 1, then 1.5, then 2 ect until they get to gear 6
Guy at the end DEFINITELY races/raced MX
1:12 I think this is a Kx 500 With a Kawasaki H2 750 Engine
Ha I think your right.
CJEnduro its a nitro methane bike thats the fuel it runs on
@@stevenmudpit1515 definitely didn't sound like a kx 500
That thing is awesome...and in a 2stroke guy
1:14 that kx sounds mint !
1:13 is the best sounding bike iv ever heard!
Honda Performance First 👍
Why did the second dirt bike (honda) not spin tires when he tok off?
What gear do they start? second or third?
It all depends on what sort of sprockets "gear ratios" they have as too what gears they use, hope this helps...
Rode a CR500 for years, awesome power under the curve which is why they kick so..... much ass.
Yes. From the servicehonda--com website. They sell all different bikes. You can get a 2012 CR500AF for $11,999. So start saving your pennies. Also ONLY available in the US.
what 2 or 4 stroke?
Honda CR500 = SHORT WORK; GAME OVER.
Honda CR500 for the win!
where is the hill ??
0:01 is 2 cilinder kx 500?
@joe23ba
It was probably the KX 750 tripple road bike engine.
Can anybody tell me why the 2 strokes dont have the silencers? Dont they lose torque? Does it increase power? I ride a 1996 cr125 and wonder if i would gain or lose anything from doing that other than making everyone deaf😂
looks like an early '70s single cam 2 valve honda 750?
the kawa sounded amazing...
@zachnunes123456789
which one is that?
THEY HAD TO USE 1000cc 4 stroke sportsbike motors just to keep up with the mighty CR500.2 stroke for life!
I actually found out what it is, they put a GSXR1000 motor into that thing
0:34 bike???
That dude loves him some Coca Cola.
@ThisIsMotocross Basically all just depends on the rider I guess.
@xXDropD34DXx I didn't know there was a KX450R. I know of a KX450F though... and you kind of got things backwards assuming you were referring to the KX450F, I have talked to many riders who ride 450's and they simply will not ride a 500R because of the power. what do you mean?
awesome vid
Braaaaaaapppp!!!!
No, they start in second gear and stay in second gear the whole time.
A 2 stroke will run forever if you mix gas properly, clean the air filter generously, and if you don't race it. Four strokes have more parts than 2 strokes, making them heavier, and harder to maintain.
Basically, If you ain't mixing gas, you ain't hauling ass.
They use Nitro instead of Premix. It's a high octane fuel.
1:40 Sounds like me after taco night.
Dude insane.....BRAAAAAP!!!!!!
Is that why a 2 stroke won?
i'v always heard 2 stroke brake down a lot easier and your more likely to fix them a lot more then a 4 stroke now i myself never owned one so i really can't say but my dad has and my friends have them too and they work on there bikes way more then i work on mine and cost wise parts are about the same and i know this for a fact because i live right next to a honda store.
that guy under the time thing takes a drink every time!! lol
@zachnunes123456789
isnt the one after it a v twin too?
2 stroke might have a powerband but 4 stroke has a hell of a lot more torque good luck climbing steep hills on a 2 stroke.
you bet!!!
because 450s are usually in a different class
well, it sure as hell is a lot closer to the same than a pw50 vs a cr500.
I'm going to point something out right fast. Put any pro rider on a PW50 and an average/expert rider on a CR500. Sorry, but the average dude would win. Your name is true and that's why I'm not bashing too hard. Not to mention I just bought myself a YZ250 yesterday.
Finally makes the 500 2 strokes easy to ride....
not to mention how expensive and harder to maintain they are.
notice the key word in your statement QUAD i'm definitely not saying quads are better in fact i think dirt bikes are a 100% better then a quad but it all depends on how big the engine is who makes it and so on and i'm not saying 2 strokes can't go up hills what so ever i'm just saying there not made for that type of abuse like climbing hills all day 2 strokes are built for speed and 4 strokes are built for torque and power.
Bike at 1:15?
Sounds freaking amazing.
that kawasaki sounded nasty 4 stroke for the win now this is what 4 strokes are made for climbing the shit out of hills.
1:11 sounds badass!!
HONDA ALL THE WAY BRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAP!!!
that one at 34 sounds cool
A 500CC 2 Stroke VS A 250CC can't be classified as "almost the same". Yes it is more about luck and which path the rider takes, but the bike also has a big part in the speed department.
450s, bow down
i agree
ts the green bike #49 at 1:12 ? God damn..
the v twin sounds the best in my oppinion
i agree with you also.
The only downfall is the smell of the exhaust. If you watch other videos of these bikes racing some people will be fanning the rider as he revs up the bike at the like. The fumes are obnoxious and I think they can harm you pretty good too.
I agree bro!!!! :)
Can someone PLEEEASE tell me what kind of engine they put into that fucking beast at 01:13
its all rider that guy was a good hill climer he kept the tire in the ground as much as he could. the other bikes go so fast you end up jumpin up the hill lol
