Yep. I know they are a great non profit. My studios are called mud. We have madison mud. Boonton mud and Montclair Mud! My email had been Mudgirl for 25 years. Lol.
I struggle with plates and appreciate your approach to the process. Are there any tips if for throwing plates on a plastic, masonite, or other more common bat material? Thanks for sharing your expertise with us.
Hi there. Throwing on a regular bat (plastic or I prefer Masonite) would be the same method but leave it into the bat over night (if you lip is thin gently cover with plastic). The next day (depending on weather) try to just pop it off. Do not pull on ledge if it’s still stuck. This will definitely cause it to warp by the end of the process. Then dry slowly trim and I dry on wire shelf.
My teacher taught me to center low and wide! I hate it. It felt like you gave me permission to do what I naturally prefer. I'm going to try throwing some pieces high and narrow!!! Also, you talk about popping it off even with the masonite bats -- do you use a wire tool or not?
There is also a pottery studio in NJ called Mudgirls pottery. Confusing if you don't know the difference! 😅😅

I’ve def seen that method but I find beginners end of leaving a lot of clay on the bat that way! Good luck and let us know how it goes
Great video. I found that some clays will warp and crack more then others so if you have trouble with that try a different clay body
Thats awesome!!!
