Here I have put together a compilation of ride videos I have taken of the 2007 Orion 07.501 VII Airport units (8000-8011). These busses were retrofitted with luggage racks in January 2013 to provide passengers with a place to store their luggage until they got to their correct terminal or Kipling Stn, in 2015 these units were sent to Hillcrest for there mid life rebuild, upon completion they had received their own unique livery with unique slogans such as (Your Journey starts here, Downtown to Airport in 45 minutes, One TTC fare, New Zealand etc.) Since then these buses were somewhat iconic for the TTC when it came to service on the 192 Airport Rocket which later became the 900 Airport Express and the 300A Bloor Danforth Blue Niight when heading to and from Pearson Airport, in September 2021 TTC had started making preparations to replace these 12 units and had started to install luggage racks on their trial bus Nova LFS 3330, from October to December 2022 3331-3341 have received luggage racks and even their on Wrap to promote service on the 900 Airport Express (basically the RAPID TO wrap but with an Airplane 🛬 as the logo instead an Arrow). Some of the New Airport Novas were having some mechanical issues and as a result delayed the retirement of the old Airport OG's as some units were already sidelined from service but had to return in order to help keep service going with little to no delays. Later on retirements and decommissioning had officially started as in January units 8000-8002 were removed from service and Decommissioned, followed by 8003 and 8004 in February and 8007 in March of 2023. Buses 8008-8010 had lasted a bit longer than expected but 8010 had a breakdown on the 900 was permanently removed from service only leaving 8008 and 8009 in service, 8008 was the main unit that was constantly used as 8009 was either at Queensway or Obico from time to time, eventually 8008 was pulled from service again in May and was sent to Hillcrest along with 8005-8006, 8010 and 8011 to be reassigned as a Sheltar bus in June, thus leaving 8009 as the last Airport Orion Vii in service up until May 4th 2023 were it was removed from passenger service for the last time which officially marks the end of the Airport Orion VII era, and joining the other units (8005-8006,8008, 8010 and 8011) to become shelter buses and were later joined by buses 8012 and 8013 in October. To commemorate this I put all the clips and some pictures I had of the series into one big video.
The first clip is of the first unit of the series 8000 (0:00-9:32) on the 900 Airport Express full route from Kipling Station to Pearson Airport Terminal 3.
The second clip is of bus 8003 on 900 Airport Express from Terminal 3 to Kipling Stn (9:33-16:34).
The 3rd clip is a special one as this was taken on the original retirement day for these units which was December 19th 2022, this clip is on board bus 8010 on route 112E West Mall Express, this route is actually a tripper that starts from Michael Power/St. Joseph High School (Renforth Drive and Eringate Drive) to Kipling Station and does the 900 Airport Express afterwards (16:35-29:07).
The 4th Clip is of bus 8009 going from Kipling Station to Terminal 1 (29:34-36:45).
The 5th Clip is of 8003 going from Terminal 1 to Terminal 3 (36:46-41:34).
The last and final Clip is of bus 8008 on the 900 Airport Express full route to Terminal 3, (the first part it was finishing its last trip and was out of service, the actual ride video was taken the day after.) this unit was the most commonly used until it was removed from service and was one the best sounding and maintained of the remaining Airport units. (41:35-1:07:50).
Update: the former Airport now known as Sheltar buses were repainted into the LFLRV (New Livery) with the TTC and city of Toronto logos.
Thank you all for watching and I hope you enjoyed the video and the content I put out!

@@Queensway8084 not really, the Novas are alright. And from what I've seen/heard from time to time NG Diesels get Dispatched on the 900.

Why did the airport Orion VIIs have to be retired just because novas started to run on the 900? Couldn't they have been used on other Queensway routes?

    • @TorontoTransit3722

They had high mileage, needed a lot of maintenance and some of these repairs that were needed weren't exactly worth the investment.
