My PC that's a few years old with 16GB of RAM and other moderate specs won't run it after running the MS PC Health check thing. If I have to spring for a new machine, I'll be going to back to Mac after a decade or so of Windows. I've never had a desktop computer with a webcam either, that just clinches that deal.

They should start calling their OS "Walls". "Windows" was an OS that allowed you interactive access to multiple things and was more or less transparent with what it did to your machine.
"Walls" hides things from you, holds a bunch of cosmetic garbage and extraneous stuff you couldn't care less about, and you have to find a way around it or break through it to get to some of the stuff you want.

Microsoft is one of the biggest corporate donors to the state. As such, the government loves them snooping and spying on citizens. And under the current fascistic/cronyist system, the state will actively bypass all sorts of constitutional government limitations (which they can't impose directly) by using "private" business MicroSoft as a middleman to do it by proxy. This is why we need the complete separation of corporate interests and the state. Most people shout "fascism" without realizing that collusion between corporations and the government is the very definition of economic fascism. The Biden admin is one of the worst offenders of this type of behaviour.

Windows 11 is awful, and i dont mean that in a “im not used to it yet, and not everythings been ironed out” sort of way like with windows 10, which is nowadays good (not amazing though).
My little sister got a laptop recently that runs windows 11 out of the box, and it basically throws away all of the reasons you would use Windows over Linux. Unlike previous Windows versions, it does not “work out of the box” and there are tons of settings that needed to be tinkered with to get it working normally. You also now need a microsoft account and connect to the internet to start up your computer for the first time, which is BS.
Windows 11 goes absolutely apeshit if you try to download any apps outside of the store. Tried downloading chrome, but because her microsoft account is under 18, it means you need to set up a parent account and then allow her to use chrome every 3 hours, you need to do all this so that she can use chrome. Why does Microsoft do this? Its not to protect the user, its to force them to use their product, for example when trying to download chrome a popup will appear telling you to reconsider and keep using edge. Not only that, but when you go into settings to change what browser different links / file types are opened in, you have to manually change it from edge to chrome for each one.
This isnt to mention that her laptop made specifically to run windows 11 is so, so slow when doing things like using the browser despite the hardware not really being all that bad. Oh and all the spyware, how bloated the OS is, and Microsoft admitting to having keyloggers built into the OS but then saying “oh no we will remove them” as if you could trust them in the first place.
Being fairly young she also plays Roblox (which i absolutely hate) , a game that really doesnt require good hardware. Phones can run it pretty smoothly without any issues, and on my computer which used to run Windows 10 but now runs Linux Mint with pretty old and outdated hardware, it ran smoothly and could do so on the higher graphical settings (which by no means are all that insane). On her laptop which is much more powerful than my computer, it can only run on the lowest graphical settings at 30fps, but nothing too awful. Eventually the game froze as she had left the game running, so she was kicked from the game. Went to close the window, and she couldnt. In fact she couldnt use any software at all, and the screen was frozen as that. Ok, lets press ctrl alt del, check task manager and force it to close. I do that, task manager appears, but it doesnt work, so i just restart the computer.
The operating system should NOT be looking at what youre doing on it, and it should not be so bloated it makes all programs ran on it so god damn slow. Its downright disrespectful to the people using it rather than productive, and at this point macOS might be about as easy to use.
She has been asking me to run Linux Mint on her laptop, which would probably do so incredibly smoothly. Thing is changing OS on laptops can be annoying with how the keyboard and trackpad works so ill save it for another time, currently i just told her maybe itd be better to roll back to windows 10, and use mint when support for it has ended

Most reputable modern webcam vendors actually made their hardware in the way there's always a visual identification of when it's in use. Meaning, when it starts transmitting image data, a LED will turn on.
This was a problem of the "old" generation, where the LED was software- or driver-operated (the driver sends the command to turn on the LED to the camera as part of init routine; this was easy to bypass by using custom drivers with the LED functionality disabled), as opposed to being firmware-operated (the camera chip _itself_ lights up the LED before any frame is sent over data lines, this would require physical soldering to bypass), which is required for any modern built-in camera.

With Windows, that is not possible. This allows Linux users to fully customize every aspect of the operating system, from the width of the scroll bars, to the underlying architecture of the OS. Disabling the webcam isn't that difficult. Remove the screen bezel and remove/cut the cables basically.
If you really need a webcam, buy a USB cam and unplug it when you are finished using it.
edit: cutting the laptop - speaker cables is also good. remember that (small) speakers can be reversed to be used as a mic. (NSA trick)
Using USB headsets/speakers/soundcard resolves this issue.

When the Kinect was announced, Microsoft said that it couldn't be disconnected from the Xbox without it causing problems. It wasn't true when the system was released and the Kinect obviously didn't last long afterwards. They can make Bluetooth a requirement but it's only ever going to be a soft requirement for the reasons you stated. If a windows computer was gimped as soon as the Bluetooth adapter was disconnected, a lot of people would discover one more reason to ditch Winblows.

There's also a screen size requirement for the new Windows 11. Windows 11 will not run on anything smaller than a 9-in screen. This is concerning, because devices like the GPD win 3 run on screen smaller than that. So it looks like a lot of niche products will never be able to run Windows 11 stock .

I'm almost certain that this is an OEM requirement and not something baked into the OS. No off-the-shelf OS out there can tell how many inches a screen is. They can only tell resolution. Many phones pack a 1080p screen into 6 inches, many laptops still use 15-inch 1080p displays. Same resolution, different size. Impossible to notice the difference from the OS's perspective. Previous GPD systems will upgrade just fine. Newer systems of this form-factor will either not run Windows 11 or use non-OEM licenses, however.
