You won't hear the same sounds in EDM and even Trance music anymore. The magic of those times was that each electronic music ensemble wanted to be different from the other and therefore had its own style. In those days, VST plugins were just being developed and they were very primitive so to create music you had to have synthesizers, samplers, drum machines etc. Often you had to program synthesizers yourself to create sounds that were unique and one of a kind. Despite the same musical style, each band was recognizable by their style. Today all bands sound the same because they use the same VST plugins as Serum, Spire and Sylenth1.
