Growing up my mom drove a 1990 dodge caravan that would die on her at red lights/stop signs….most of the time it started right back up but sometimes it would start and as soon as she put it in drive it would struggle and die on her again…she was always so embarrassed knowing people heard her having to try to start it again
How is that a junker. It's someone's classic weekend/ project car on a test run. Sounds like a bad fuel pump. I've had similar issues with my project '86 635CSI BMW.
Where's the rest of the video?! Reminds me of the 70's when every other hood would be up as soon as the first freeze arrived. People just don't realize how much ppl have it made nowadays with computer-controlled everything on modern cars.
During late 1970s winters in the UK, my grandfather had to keep his (then) brand new car hooked up to a trickle charger overnight in a heated garage else it wouldn't start in the morning. Cars back then were basically utter crap - you spent all weekend tinkering with them, no safety features, pathetic mpg and horrifying emissions, and they were rusted away within five years. After he died and we cleared out his stuff, we found a load of old car tools which literally have no use on a modern vehicle.
@@mxbx307 I started driving in 1978, so I was well versed at running the battery down in my 1968 Ford station wagon trying to avoid riding the bus to school. The battery was good for perhaps 21/2 to 3 minutes of total spin time for the starter-- that's it. So I ended up catching the bus more than half the time, esp. if it was cold out. Can you imagine what those poor people went through back in the 20's and 30's before electric starters became commonplace? Using the hand crank to start a car was a hazard in and of itself. Many people ended up with broken arms when the engine would backfire, and I'm quite certain a few people had heart attacks and other ailments while using the hand crank.
May be a fuel pump problem, battery, timing belt, timing chain, spark plug, carburetor, starter, alternator, exhaust system. Many components can cause an engine not to run in a vehicle whether it be internal combustion, diesel, jet engine, etc. Good job posting this video!
man go offer some help.. sure it's fun for a few minutes.. I cant say much having videod or stop to watch an old Clunker struggling to run and backfiring.
It’s a nice old ride. I bet the fuel pump quit, or it has a fuel delivery issue; it could also need the carburetor serviced, too. Carburetor engines can be temperamental. At least he got it running, and since it died again, it needs to be push started to get home..
As possible repair assistence of this beautiful Classic 1950 Ford Shoebox engine Carburetor part for engine reliability and repair the engine Oil pump in perfectly conditions??
The person in the video that you posted may have some issues trying to get an old vehicle running from that stop sign to a few feet down the road, but the next time that you are in a dire situation with very little help to your aid, think about the person that you filmed/mocked instead of helping them out in their time of need.
This classic (not junker) looks like an old ford shoebox. Pretty cool. I am guessing its nothing more than an old mechanical fuel pump with a bad diaphram. So…. Im guessing the uploader has never had car problems Before and life is all sunshine and rainbows and perfect…. Lmfao yeah right!
Totally sucks when the fuel pump goes out. Sometimes you get a little warning, but sometimes it just cuts out when you're driving.Good shot of the car and him restarting (sounds like a 289 or 302) with some misses and knocking. But if you'd gone out and offered to help, you could have gotten a great rear end shot and even louder revving.Did he get it restarted after he made the left turn? I'm thinking that fuel pump might have been toast by that point.
Instead of filming him, making fun of him and his car which is not a junker but a classic car how about stop being a douche and help him! Be sure to remind me when you are stranded because your car won’t start to make fun of you and not help you. 🤦
I remember on Top Gear they went to India and had the same issues with the Hindustan Ambassador and for the exact same reason. The locals knew to put a cold, wet cloth over a certain part of the fuel system to effectively cool the fuel down and get rid of the vapour. It worked. The very original Ambassador was based on the old Morris Oxford which probably had the same problem, but the UK never got hot enough to see it.
I can't even tell which way that car is facing! It must be 30 something or 40 years old, Ive only ever seen about maybe 6 of those in my entire 13 years!
Bad fuel pump, along with probably plugs and wires. This clown probably flooded the engine, and I bet his fuel gauge isn’t working, either. It may be a classic, but classics require service and maintenance as well.
It looks like a woman is having to contend with how a man messed up a perfectly fine automobile. It's obvious he converted to a 12-volt electrical system and probably neglected putting in a resistor in the breaker point circuit, so the points burned out quickly. There may be other problems, like bad spark plugs. Anyway, it was wrong to inflict a car he didn't know what he was doing with on a woman who is depending on him to provide her dependable transportation.

@Joseph Capuano they have mechanical fuel pumps
@@flyer3849 yup that’s completely true they have mechanical fuel pumps...my roadrunner had that same problem.
Mechanical fuel pumps suck…

just a bad fuel pump
Time to rebuild the carb.
If I were to place a bet on it my bet would go on fuel delivery problems such as a failing or failed fuel pump or problem with the carburetor.
That car said gotcha sucker😂😂😂

That’s one sick sounding old car
She really doesn’t want to run
Sounds like she needs a carb tune or rebuild by the way she’s backfiring and coughing
Simple fix, cut the floor pans out and use it like the Flintstones mobil

Lol that is a collectible classic car. Don't know that model specifically, but that's like a $5000 car minimum.
i have an old vw beetle and it has broken down 2 times this week
Wouldn’t start?
I love when old cars struggle to start!
302 not 289
Somebody did a motor swap out of it.
Definitely not electrical problem but more like a fuel problem
Which model is it ? It's better to dispose
